My Love Story

Riya POV: Life is never easy; it is always hard!!!                 I chant this line as a mantra whenever something bad happens. And I chant this on daily basis. Today is a very important day and my alarm didn’t ring to wake me up because of which I am late. Damn it!! Why me? I am working as a Sr. Financial analyst in Sigma statistics for the past 5 years. Truthfully, I am very good at my job. Our company has acquired by a new organization and today we have a meeting with the C.E.O. of the company which decides about my promotion. I want it very badly. My dad always thought being a girl makes me an ultimate failure. I want to show him that I am not a failure, I want to show him I can achieve several things and being a girl doesn’t stop me. This is the feeling which always kept me motivated. And now I am being seriously late because of this damn traffic.                 I reached my office 20 mins late and I see no one is in the reception area except Maria our receptionist. She is a sweet lady around 40 years always smiling. I ran to my room to get all the reports for the meeting and was about to run for the meeting BUT I stumbled and fell on my face. WHY? WHY ME?... I tried to stand up, but my foot is aching so badly that I ended up in tears. I was so busy cursing my life that I didn’t notice someone came into my room until I have seen their hand in front of me. SHAAN… my angel!!! Shaan and me started working for the past 2 years. Initially, we didn’t get along that well because of his insane flirting skills… but things changed, and we have become good friends of course he is continued to be a flirt. When I starred from his hand to his face from the smile he is giving me I know some insane lines are going to come out, “Honey, If you love me that much all you have to do is say, not to hurt yourself and roll on the floor and cry for me” SEE!! Self-centered man!!! “You wish Shaan! Help me, my leg is aching like hell” I said while clearing my tears. He laughed and carried me to first aid room.                 While he was doing the medication, he wontedly pressed my heel due to which I shrieked in pain and pressed his bicep. Here you go! “Honey, I know you love to touch my body, but don’t do it while you are hurt, and we are in workspace” like seriously?? I just started hitting him and he was laughing out loud, that’s when I heard someone clearing their throat and I looked up at them…. OH MY GOD!!!! AM I DREAMING!!! “How... what… you” I was stuttering and unable to get a sentence out of me due to the shock. How can he be here?? This must be a nightmare…. Oh my god, please make it a dream. While I was starring at him in shock, Shaan went to him and started talking to him. Even though he is nodding to Shaan his eyes are on me. I felt myself go pale and my heart started beating faster. When I started limping to run away from him Shaan caught by my waist and stopped me. I noticed that his eyes are intently on Shaan’s arms on my waist. “RIYAAAA…” Shaan shouted in my ears making me flinch and getting me out of my zombie state and the next words out of his mouth made my world upside down. “Meet Vivian Malhotra! Our new CEO”  WHAT THE HELL!!! I was gaping at Vivian in shock while he is looking at me angrily…. Once again, WHAT THE HELL!!! When there is no response from me, he said in a cold angry voice “Meet me in my office now” with that he left. I was starring at the same place where he stood when Shaan poked me and said “Is he that handsome that you forgot me just like that” How can I explain you “Please not now, I need to meet him we shall talk later” with that I limped out of the room. Why on the earth he thinks it is ok for him to be angry with me. If anything, it should be other way around. “Don’t let him win this time” I whispered to myself and went to his room.
