Chapter 8: Give me what I want or regret it

It was a working hour so I knew he was going to be at his company. So I drove my car to the famous DIPO OIL ENTERPRISE (DOE) and parked in the parking lot. I got down and since this was the first time I was coming to Dave's office, I was a bit nervous. I didn't want him to shout at me after I left his car that day without saying goodbye and didn't call him after that. Before I got to the reception I was searched and scanned by the security men who were all dressed in black with communicating devices on their ear, before I was allowed to pass. I was expecting that kind of search protocol considering who Dave was. I was shown the elevator and what floor after they called to confirm from his office. I got to his office and as soon as I opened the door, Dave grabbed me to kiss me. "Dave what is this". He didn't even answer me and just continued forcefully kissing me. I gathered all the strength I had and immediately pushed him. "Babe I missed you" he said. You didn't, because if you did, you would have called me.

"I did babe, it's just that I missed you soo much". He said. "He kissed me all over my body and wanted to zip down my gown, when I pushed him again. "Dave I've already told you, that I am not going to have any s****l contact with you, until we get married, I want to give that to you on our wedding night". I said. All of a sudden, Dave dragged me and held my hair roughly, making me face him and our lips almost touching. It's either you give me what I want or I get it from someone else. He said. I looked at him shocked about the fact that he could say that out loud without even batting his eyelids. "You wouldn't dare!!". I told him half screaming. "Try me. I'll give you time to think about whether you will fulfill your duty as my woman and have me to yourself or whether you will keep on holding unto a useless believe and loose me". "Now get out, I don't want to see you anywhere near me until you decide what you want". I left Dave's office to my office practically broken. I couldn't concentrate anymore on anything, so I had to take permission to go home under the excuse that I was not feeling to well. I went home and soaked my pillow with tears, I didn't understand why God kept making me fall into this kind of relationships. I needed someone to talk to, and Racheal had gone out of the country for work, I didn't want to disturb her so I decided to call Marie instead. Now don't get me wrong, they are both my best friends but I felt like Racheal would have understood me better since she wasn't married like me. Marie picked up the phone after the first ring. "Marie please can you come see me, I need you now". I said. "Okay where are you". Clara said."I am at home" I answered. Okay I am almost there. Within 10 minutes I heard the doorbell ring and immediately I stood up to get it. I opened it and saw marie, when she saw how swollen my eyes were and how low my voice sounded she hugged me. "Uhhn Clara what's wrong this time, why are your eyes swollen like this?". "Marie I don't know what to do" I answered. "Tell me what happened from the start" she said. We sat down and I told her what Dave said. "What in God's name was he thinking when he said that?". I don't know marie, I don't know.

"Clara what ever this is, you need to stop it right now". "I can't stop Marie, I am running out of time". I said. I couldn't just let Dave go like my past relationships, especially now that he proposed to me. "What do you mean you can't Clara, oh so you think sleeping with him is going to make him stay and love you?". "It won't but at least he won't go around chasing other women". I answered. "Marie a man that loves you will wait for you, just like my husband Eddie, he waited for me until we got married. Clara Dave doesn't love you, if he does he will respect your decision". Marie said. Not every one is like your husband Marie, I just need to hold on till we get married". I said. "Clara if he treats you like this before marriage, what do you think he will do after you marry him?, you can't tie a man down with s*x, not can you make him love you by giving your body to him".arie said. "I have to try at least Marie and I hope you respect my decision, I need a friend right now, not a parent". "Alright I am sorry, I'm just looking out for you, that all". "I know and I appreciate that". "Why don't you get ready so that we can go out and play some games". I put on a blue jean with a black tank top and white sneakers. Since we were going to play games, I figured I put on something casual. We went to play some fun games and later had dinner in a Chinese restaurant. I came back home a lot better and decided to call Racheal. "Hi babe, thought you didn't miss me that much to call me" Racheal said. So sorry Rach, I didn't want to disturb you, so how are you?. I asked. "I am cool, just from one business to the other".

"Don't worry it will soon be over". I said. "I can't wait to come back home Clara". She said "I know right, hope you've been hearing from Ted". I asked. "Yes I have, I miss him as well". Uhhn don't worry few more weeks and you will be back". "Anyway how are you and Dave doing?". "We're fine". I lied, I didn't want her to worry about me. "You sure, no more problems?". She asked further. "Yes we are now cool". "Okay I hope so, good to know you guys are doing fine, Clara I have to go now, I will talk to you some other time alright". "Okay take care bye". I ended the call. I wasn't happy that I lied to Racheal, but I didn't have a choice, if I had told her about what Dave asked, I am very sure she will be on the next plane back to Nigeria. I freshened up and prepared to sleep when my phone started ringing. I saw that the caller was my sister and I picked it up. "Hi sis" she said. "Hi priscy, how are you doing". That was a nick name I gave her. "I am cool, how have you been?". "I've been good Clara, how is work going?". "Well work is hectic but we thank God". I answered. "When we're you going to tell us that you were now engaged". "How did you know, I can't remember telling any of you. I said. Well I found out through your i********: page, you posted it you know.". She said ."Oh right, it was suppose to be a surprise, but since you found out it's no longer a surprise". "Congrats sis!!!!!". She screamed. "Priscy please do me a favour, don't tell mom yet. I want it to be a surprise". "I won't, besides I am not with mom now". Priscilla said. "Where are you". I asked. "Since I was on break Eric took me for a vacation in S.A(south Africa)". She said. Eric was her boyfriend who was also doing well for himself. "Nice enjoy yourself then and be safe". I said."I will, by the way my convocation is in two weeks time, so when are you coming home?". She asked. "Next week priscy". I answered slowly. "Okay....... Oh and one more thing, please send me your fiance picture so I can see him at least. Please". "Alright I will. Bye". I said already tired from her talks. I immediately sent Dave's picture to her through w******p and prepared to sleep, when her call came in. "Clara!!!!!!!! She shouted. I can't believe that you are engaged to David dipo the son of Frank dipo, the former owner of DIPO OIL ENTERPRISE!!!.she screamed. "Don't make it sound like a big deal priscy". "It is a big deal". "Alright that's it, bye priscy". I ended the call and switched off my phone. I didn't want any calls again. The next morning I headed to work and cleared out all the files I left unfinished the previous day. I didn't call or text Dave for days, because I wanted to clear my head and he didn't call me too. It continued for two weeks until a particular Tuesday. Racheal was coming back today so I decided to go on a short leave for one week, so that I could spend time with Racheal. I cooked Racheal's favourite meal which was jollof rice and chicken and dishes it into a food flask to keep it warm. Few minutes later I was on my way to pick Racheal from the airport, when a message came in. I opened my phone and saw that it was my sister that sent a message to me. So I opened it. It was a picture of Dave with another woman kissing and holding hands like a couple. "Clara I don't know if this is your fiance, but from the picture you showed me, I think this is him. Just see the pictures. Priscilla wrote under the pictures. This was definitely Dave, but when did he go to S.A, because Priscilla is in south Africa and she saw him there. How?. I was so engrossed in looking at the pictures that I didn't notice that I was at a u-turn and a truck was coming in front of me. The truck horned and I raised my head, on seeing it, I tried to divert, but it was already too late as all I heard was a crashing sound and I blacked out.
