Slone’s POV
“Why did you go to see her?” I asked, anger getting the best of me. The men in the room shook at my tone but didn’t dare look at us.
Stella sighed and placed her fork on the plate before looking up at me. “I had to see her lying face and call her bluff.”
I clenched my fists and stared down at my plate. “What did she say?” Some part of me still hoped that Blair was innocent. I wanted so desperately to cling to that shred of hope.
She scoffed and picked up the cutlery again, ignoring me. I slammed my fists on the table in anger, my wolf completely dissatisfied with her show of blatant disrespect. She shivered and bowed her head.
I calmed down again and sighed, running my hands through my hair. “Please, Stella,”
Stella sighed and looked at me. “She confessed to everything and promised to show up here and steal the baby from you, then she’d run away.”
I clenched my fists, and, in a flash, turned the table upside down.
“Slone! I was still eating,” Stella scolded, disapproval in her tone, but I ignored her as her words played over and over in my mind. “You can’t just… you need to calm down.”
“Guards,” I screamed, and about 20 men appeared in front of me, including the ones who had been standing in the room already. “Tighten security, and when you spot my mate, bring her to the dungeon.”
Stella stared at me in surprise, but then her eyes smiled, and I calmed down a little. The men walked out of the room to do what I had asked, and I rose up from my seat, marching towards my room where my son was sleeping soundly. I hadn’t named him yet; I just couldn’t. I couldn’t even look at him for too long because of how much he looked like Blair.
I picked him up from the bed and held him in my arms, pacing around the room uneasily.
“She’s not going to be able to take him away, Slone; I will make sure of it,” Stella said as she came up behind me, and I grunted but only tightened my hold on him.
“What do I call him?” I asked her, and she was silent for a moment.
“How about James, after your father?” she asked, her eyes clouded with tears, and I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat.
“It’s perfect.”

Blair’s POV
I tiptoed around the house, wincing as the pain in my leg intensified. I hadn’t taken the gate for fear that the guards would capture me. I was no longer their Luna but a murderer, so their loyalty lay only with their Alpha. I had climbed in through the wall at the back of the house, which only I and Slone knew about. I had been shocked he didn’t put men there, but I was soon grateful.
I had made it into the house undetected, which in itself was a miracle. I made it to our bedroom and paused at the open door, my eyes welling up when I saw Nikolai lying in the bed, sleeping soundly.
I brushed the tears away and limped into the room, ignoring the discomfort caused by my injury. I sat down and reached for one of his legs, smiling through my tears when he made a small sound but went right back to sleep. With my heart beating wildly in my chest, I reached for him and placed him against my chest.
Lydia was waiting for me at her house, and I knew I didn’t have much time left, so I didn’t sit there for too long. A few minutes later, I rose to my feet and started to make my way out of the room.
“You are quite bold, I must give you that,” I heard, and froze, my heart sinking to the pit of my stomach when I saw Stella standing in front of me.
“Get out of my way; I need to take my son. I can’t let you harm him in any way.”
Stella laughed and clapped her hands. Immediately two of the guards walked into the room and came to stand behind me. “You made a stupid mistake by showing your face here. Slone already ordered for you to be thrown in the dungeon once you showed your face here.”
I shook, struggling against the men, but they were stronger, and soon I was being dragged out of the room after Stella had taken my child away from me. I sniffed as I was tossed in the dungeon and banged the bars, screaming to be released. Stella needed to be stopped, and maybe Lydia was right; I had to tell Slone the truth.
“I need to speak with the Alpha,” I screamed, my voice coming out hoarse, but I didn’t care.
“Why do you think I’d want to speak to you, Blair?”
I shook as he suddenly appeared in front of me. “Slone,”
“You have no shame, showing your face here again after everything you have done.”
I shook my head, my eyes pleading with him to believe me. “Please, Slone, you have to believe me. I loved James like a father. I would never try to kill him.” I sobbed and reached for him through the holes. “Why would I want to kill him?”
He went silent, and I decided to capitalize on it. “I loved James, Slone, and I love you too. Please, you have to believe me.”
He stared at me for a long time, and just when I thought he was willing to listen, he sneered and spat on the ground. “You are disgusting, Blair. I will make you pay for everything you did to my father. You are the only one to blame for the death of our other child, so I promise to get justice for him too. His death won’t go unpunished.”
He spat on the ground again and walked away from me, taking what was left of my heart with him.
“I didn’t do it, Slone, please believe me.”
“You will face execution tomorrow for all your crimes, and then my father will be buried.” His voice rang through the entire dungeon, and my heart stopped.
I slumped to the ground and gave in to the tears.
