LOSER LOVER

1083 Words
May pulled the sleeves of her shirt up and folded them around her elbow because of how hot it was outside. She was waiting for Jamie to finish off practice while doing her homework on the bleachers for the past two hours but he just kept on jumping around with the basketball. "Let's go home you loser!", she yelled only to get a grin from the boy. He wiped the sweat off himself with the towel that was placed next to his bag by May and walked up to her, immediately collapsing when his body wore out the adrenaline. "Here," she mumbled shoving a sippy cup of the chocolate smoothie into his arms without even looking at him. "Thanks, you're the best," he grinned widely at her when she arranged her books into her backpack. The boy's eyes shined with utmost adoration for her and he leaned in to peck her cheek with a cheeky smile. May gasped and punched his arm before waltzing away from him. "Hey wait," he yelled jogging to stay by her side even though she didn't listen to whatever he was saying. "Aren't you hungry?", he asked subtly brushing his thumb past her hand and she immediately held onto it with a dismissive shake of her head. "Come over, I'll make you something quickly," Jamie mockingly cooed at her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders still waddling along, and let his weight onto her. "Jamie! You're heavy and sticky," she groaned trying her best to cope with so much weight altogether. "Okay, okay, let's get more cupcakes from the pink bakery, and then we'll be at your place in a few minutes," He knew May had been avoiding the shop and more specifically the baker who worked in it since she absolutely refused to go back or even eat the cupcakes. Fortunately, those ten had landed in Timmy and Jamie's stomachs. "No, I don't want cupcakes," she frowned, unconsciously holding onto his forearms that he had around her which made Jamie's cheeks flush red but he tried to take his mind off it. "Is it because of the baker there-" "Babies!", Tim laughed running up to the other two who smiled warmly in response. He had a boxy smile lighting up his features and as soon as he was just a few steps away, he tossed a paper into May's hands. Jamie peeked at the paper almost placing his chin on her bare shoulder since the shirt had slid down and immediately gasped. "What the f**k Tim?!" "You got into Yale?!", both May and Jamie yelled at the same time, their jaws hanging open in surprise before Minjae jumped in Tim's arms who immediately accepted her in. She placed her chin on his shoulder and he hunched down picking the girl up by the waist. "Congratulations! I'm proud of you!" The acceptance letter fell from her hands when he twirled around, landing in front of Jamie's feet whose smile faltered slightly at the realization that his best friend was about to take off to a whole new college away from them and also because he wasn't a part of the hug. Shaking his head slightly, Jamie tried to dive into the hug but Tim held up a finger. "One minute," he mouthed and the latter immediately stepped back with a sad smile as Tim's head nuzzled into her neck for the first time in weeks. May couldn't stop smiling and slowly pulled away, secretly rubbing her watery eyes. "My hug?", Jungkook's voice was almost inaudible and she could barely recognize it either but the smile that came back on her lips when Tim and Jamie lunged at each other was worth all the things she had in her life. "Congratulations! I'm going to miss you but that means I get to spend more time with May," he smirked enticing a roar of laughter from Tim. "You both are disgusting," she faked a gag and turned on her heel to Jamie's bike deciding it was her day to drive. The boys only laughed more and started walking behind her. She swung her leg over the motorcycle and put the helmet on while the other two struggled to find more space. This time too, like always Tim chose the last position and Jamie placed his hands on her waist just to test if she going to yell again or not but when she didn't he took it as a go-ahead to get comfortable. "Timmy, shouldn't we go to that new bakery by the strip club to get more of those cupcakes?", he teased again but opposite to his plan, Tim agreed so here they were again, standing across the bakery with May refusing to get down. "May! It's just a bakery, come on in please!" "I don't like the baker here," she whined crossing her arms. The two looked at each other with a sigh and held onto her arms and legs, quickly placing her on her feet despite all the whining. "That's better now," May's palms started to sweat at the idea of coming face to face with him again because it scared her how beautiful he was. Her belly was full of giddiness and butterflies but she didn't have a good feeling about any of it. "Oh look, it's Han! May? Why don't you go talk to him?", the two mumbled something to each other before running off to a group of grandmas that were sitting by the window seats. "Hello there," Han whispered in her ear for fun since he was walking past her back and she jumped up, dropping her phone in surprise. He immediately dropped to his feet, picking it up for her but she bumped her head against his chest out of nervousness. "Well it's an amazing evening I'm having now," he mumbled to himself with a slight playfulness to it as his hand was enclosed around her wrist, merely a few centimeters between their bodies. "It's not my fault, you're the one who made me fall," she blurted out and Han laughed softly, letting go of her wrist to hand her phone back. She was about to push it into her pocket when she realized he had placed another one of his cards too. "Do you always have these up your sleeve? What are you, some trickster?", she laughed with a scoff. "I'm a baker and a magician darling. Also, you didn't call or text me as I had expected you to."
