~Evan~ Getting out of the castle to relax was next to impossible as head chef. I had been working in the castle from the time I was born and I had risen from trash boy to head chef at the young age of 18. I loved my job and now that I was 21 I felt like I had control of my domain. However, one of my favorite things was my daily visits with princess London. I don't know how the girl pulled it off, but she always managed to spend a little over an hour with me every day. The little girl brightened my day as she rambled on and on about her family, whom I have never met, and tonight was no different. "I just don't get it Evan. Why does daddy have to be such a stick in the mud? I mean my sister only wants to get out of the house for like an hour. What is the big deal?" London huffed as she sat on the island countertop and ate yet another one of the cream puffs I had made. "You are going to make yourself sick," I reminded her, raising my eyebrow towards her. "No I'm not. I have a whole desert stomach for these. Plus, don't you make enough to give me like half?" "Yes," I laughed softly, moving 5 trays to the other counter where she couldn't reach them. "I figured out that I needed to do that when you ate all of the cupcakes for your brother's birthday." "You left them out in the open!" She huffed, looking crestfallen. However, that didn't last long when I handed her another cream puff. "Anyways, why is my father so hard on her? I mean we had to use all of my cousins and uncles to get him to let her out tonight." "Wasn't she kidnapped when your mother was still pregnant with her? I can understand why the king is so cautious towards all of you." "That was years ago and the bastard is dead," London groaned, lying down on the counter. SOOOOOOOOOO many health codes are being violated right now. "He needs to let her be free!" "Well, she is out tonight, so is that not enough for now? I mean it is a baby step, but it is a step none the less." Smiling softly, I finished decorating the cream puffs for the ball tomorrow and placed them carefully in the fridge. "I better not find any of these missing when I start preparing for the ball tomorrow night." London threw her hands up in surrender as she giggled happily, "relax Evan. I know the deal. I cannot touch your food once it has been decorated." "Good girl. Now get off of my cabinet and get out of here. If anyone walks in, I'm going to get in trouble." "Isn't this your kitchen?" London asked, confused, as she jumped off the counter. "Yes, but there are still health concerns that come to light when someone lays down on a counter used for prepping and cooking food." "Fine," London huffed, going into the pantry and coming out with cleaning supplies. "You know you pick the weirdest times to be all macho head chef." "Only when it is time to go home," I laughed, happily taking some of the supplies so we could start cleaning. Unlike her brothers, I was grateful that London actually helped me clean up. "So what are you going to do tonight, princess?" "Don't call me that," London growled, making me laugh. "Sorry your royal highness," Laughing, I ducked behind the counter, dodging the Windex she threw at my head. "I really hate you!" she whined with a childish huff. "No you don't, I make the food that you like." London sighed sadly but nodded as she finished cleaning, "You're right. I cannot hate you." "See. So again, I ask what are you doing tonight?" "I think I am just going to hang out with my cousin. She didn't go out with the others because she's pregnant, so I'm gonna take up some snacks and watch some shows with her. I don't see a reason for her to be alone just because she's tired. Carrying an Alpha's baby is taking a toll on her body." "Thats nice of you," I smiled softly at her and grabbed my wallet and keys from the drawers. "I put extra popcorn in the pantry and ice cream in the freezer." "You're the best!" London squealed, grabbing a basket so she could load up snacks. "What are you doing tonight?" "We have the royal ball tomorrow, so I was thinking about getting some sleep and possibly writing down some new recipes. Just have a quiet night in my room." "Dude, you turned 21 last week and you have yet to go out and enjoy yourself! You should get out of the castle and blow off some steam before the ball tomorrow." "Can you imagine what would happen if I was hung over tomorrow?" I groaned, thinking about it. London whined, trying to get the marshmallows from the top shelf, "Don't drink to that degree then. Just go have fun." "I have things to do London," I sighed, as I handed her the marshmallows. "And you already did everything you can for tomorrow, otherwise your butt would not be leaving the kitchen." London said smugly as she lifted up her basket of food. "I'm going to eat the cream puffs if I see you in this castle before midnight!" She called as she left the kitchen. I know I shouldn't be letting a small child boss me around... but something about London made me think that she would actually go through with her threat. What the hell?!? Am I seriously being threatened by a little girl.... YEP! Growling in aggravation, I left the kitchen and headed for my room. If I was going to go out tonight, then I was going to call my brothers and get changed. No way was I going to go out in my outfit covered in flour! After an hour, I met my brothers outside of the castle and headed for the closest bar in town. Because I worked in the castle and they didn't, I didn't get to see them often, but when I did, I never stopped laughing. The four of us made our way in quickly... considering the bouncer is currently sleeping with my eldest brother. I couldn't give River many things, but he had a decent taste in men. The bouncer was ripped but not in the typical bouncer style, and his red hair practically glowed under the street lights. 'She's here...' a growl sounded in my head the second we entered the bar. Frowning, I closed my eyes to enter my mind space, 'I'm guessing you are my wolf. Shouldn't you have appeared last week when I turned 18?' 'There has not been a full moon yet, so I did not see a point in telling you that I was here,' he grumbled as he moved about in the shadows. Suddenly, a pair of bright red eyes stared down at me. 'Our mate is near. I can sense her.' 'There are about 100 people out there. How do you expect me to pin point one? Could you be a little more specific?' 'She has the scent of another around her!' He snapped, growling in anger, 'Find her and remove it! She is ours, no one else is allowed to claim her.' 'She isn't property,' I sighed, softly shaking my head. 'If you are going to act like an entitled douche bag, then I am going to ignore you until the full moon.' My wolf growled and tried to say something, but I ignored him and opened my eyes slowly. Since I had four older brothers, I knew what happened when you entered and exited the mindspace too quickly and I didn't feel like dealing with the headache. "You okay?" River asked, placing his hand on my shoulder. Smiling softly, I nodded happily. "I just met my wolf!" "Really!" They all grinned excitedly, "what is he like?" "I... he is pushy," Frowning, I took a deep breath to compose myself when the smell of Forget-me-not's hit my nose. It smelled like home on a small farm with all of my favorite people. Looking around, I tried to find the source of the scent when my eyes met with another. She was beautiful with flowing blonde hair and hypnotizing eyes. Thunder struck me as I looked at her and my nerves lit on fire. However, when she looked at me, I saw fear in her eyes, and when the man next to her wrapped his arm around her I felt nothing but rage and blood lust. "Bro, what is going on?" River asked, shaking me slightly. "Mate..."
