She stared at him in horror. His eyes were sparkling mischievously.
"I don't like what you're thinking" she said, taking a step back.
"And what am I thinking?" he rose a brow.
"Something I'm not going to like" she huffed.
He chuckled. "Let's seal the deal with a kiss, shall we?"
"No. Obviously there's no reason for us to kiss" she narrowed her eyes.
"None at all?" he took a step towards her.
"None" she said, moving backwards.
"Not even if I say that the flat is now yours?"
She blinked. "Is it?"
He nodded. "You'll have to sign the papers of course for official purposes. The papers are right there" he pointed to the bedside table.
She picked up the papers and read through them. "Wow, you have really gone far to get me this time" she turned around.
"Aren't you happy?"
"For what?" she put the papers down. "That you got me fired? Bought the apartment?"
Well, though she was going to quit, there was no reason he had to know about.
"I didn't get you fired" he muttered.
"Oh right. And the pigs can fly" she scoffed.
"I'm telling you, the project deal you were trying to get me to agree to, was not at all okay. Any fool would know he was trying to rob me blind. 40-60 even though the resources are mine, build area is mine, he gets 60 and I 40? How did you even think I'd agree to that?"
She sighed. "You could have simply told him you weren't interested. You didn't have to get me fired."
"I did not get you fired. I only told him I wouldn't go through with the deal."
She slightly shook her head.
"You don't believe me, do you?" he crossed his arms.
"After you tild me yesterday that you'd get me fired? Is it that much of a surprise?"
"Believe what you want."
There was a pregnant silence.
"Is it a deal?" she asked after long. "You ensure that the flat is in Emily's name and I'll stay here with you."
He stared at her in amusement and shook his head.
"No?" she asked.
"I'm good with that. I just didn't think you'd agree" he shrugged.
She flashed him a fake smile. "But I'm going to stay here for five months only and after that, I'll be free to go if I want to."
More than enough time for him. He nodded. He walked towards her. "Yes.. Okay! But you don't have to come close. I'll just get my stuff here. Don't take another step forward" she muttered and ran to the door.
"Not necessary" he said. She looked back. "Your stuff is going to be moved in" he stated. "Excuse me?!" she said loudly. She felt better that her voice had returned.
"Who gave you the permission to do this?" she looked at him angrily. "I don't need permission to move my wife's things into my house" he replied. He emphasised on 'wife'.
"I am not your WIFE" she shouted.
"Alright alright. I was confident I'd charm you into staying with me" he smiled. "And anyway.." he continued. "I don't remember signing divorce papers. Do you?" he asked harshly. He didn't get a reply.
"I am going to the flat" she said turning. Before he could open his mouth she said, "I have to talk to Emily and explain why I'm moving out. You don't boss around me!" she told and walked off.
"What?" said Emily. "I mean I know coz I can see that your stuff is being taken to the cars that are down there. They're handling it with extreme care. What is happening? Where were you?" she asked.
"Breathe Emily" said Honey. "Right!" she said. Honey sat down in the sofa. "The man who bought this flat is ready to give it to you. Free of cost. You're now the owner of this flat, I'll bring the papers for you to sign later alright? I just have to do a job that he wants."
"And what's that?" asked Emily narrowing her eyes. "Umm.. Personal secretary" she made up, well it was true kind of, he did want her to work for him. "You don't have to if you don't want to. We'll find another place to live" she told Honey. Honey let out a sigh.
"I'm fine with it. You have to trust me when I say I'm happy with this, you know no one can bully me into doing things. I'll miss you so much Emily. Thanks a ton for all your help. If you weren't there five years ago I don't know what I would have done." and she hugged her.
"I'll miss you too. Take care. And yeah.. You still didn't tell me anything about what happened five years ago." Honey smiled as she got up.
"Let's talk when I bring the papers, we'll have some time then. Call me if you need anything..anything at all" and she left.
She took a cab and went back to his house. She stood outside and wondered whether to ring the bell or just go off. Before she could decide she heard the door open. She lifted her eyes up and saw Nick standing in front of her. She almost jumped out of her skin. He led her inside and straight to his room. She felt nervous and excited at the same time. How many times had she imagined Nick coming to her and taking her back to their house. But she had to be careful, she wasn't the naive girl she was back then. Yes she loved him now too, but she wouldn't let his actions hurt her. And she got the opportunity of staying with him, she jumped at it.
She couldn't believe this was happening. She entered and saw suitcases and bags. Her stuff from her flat. One last bag was brought up.
"Excuse me"she called the person who kept her bag down. He turned around. "Yes ma'am?" She smiled. "You have brought the bags to the wrong room. It is that room around the corner."
He didn't say anything, only looked at Nick. Nick shook his head. The guard went down. "What was that?" she asked annoyed.
"I'm not staying in here with you. I'm shifting to the guest room."
He smiled.
Was she dreaming or was she actually melting.
"Fine then.." he said. "So..." she asked.
"So.. What?" he asked pretending to know nothing.
"Who is going to move my stuff there?" she asked. "You" he said and walked away.
"This is ridiculous" she said as he was climbing down the stairs. He waved and walked off. "Ughh..I hate you" she screamed. He turned around and winked. She was furious.
