Noticing the annoyance on Nathan's face, I object, “No, no. It's fine. Thanks for your help today and sorry Little boy for breaking your phone screen.“ I said with a little giggle. “I think I will do fine on my own.“
Natalie smiled nicely at me, keeping the same smile on her lips when she stared at Nathan but it looked sinister when it was at him.
“Marie, you are my friend now and seriously my cousin knows better than not to be nice with my friends. Nathan will show you around, I insist and I will join you guys in no time.“
I look at Nathan who still has a look of displeasure on his face. “It's no problem, I am fine on my own.“ Why do I feel she might look my age but way older because she sounds too confident if she is younger than him?
“Nathan has no problem with it, I swear. His default face is always a look of annoyance.“ She turns to leave.
“I will be back.“ She waves us bye. Nathan, the instant she's gone, walks forward leaving me behind. I knew this wasn't going to work out, clueless as to where he was going I decided to take right.
I was following the map, but it wasn't working. I heard a familiar voice with a little treble to its depth.
He seethed before he walked to me. “It's this way, four eyes.“
I stood reluctant to follow him when I felt his large hand encircle mine, my skin burning with odd instant sparks travelling between us.
“I don't want my cousin to have me slain in my sleep because of you. Don't feel flattered.“ He pulls me closer to his side.
We walked to the office I was searching for, and I was actually surprised he stood by the side waiting for me. I entered and submitted my files and answered a few questions and more questions as to why I wanted to stay in a hostel. My last name was the reason for such questions.
I smiled in response, aware if I told them my family issues wouldn't solve any problems in my life right now.
Promised communication back to me, I exited anticipating going home when my phone rang.
It was Micheal. I closed the door of the office and saw Nathaniel spring to his feet as soon as he saw me. We started a walk out of the building.
“Hi Michael.” I greeted him. “I was just about coming out. I am done with my work here.“
“Er- Marie, I was just about to inform you I wouldn't be around for a second. Ms Clarrisa needs me to take her and her friends to the shopping mall. I told her about you and she…” He didn't need to complete his sentence for me to understand.
“It's fine Micheal. I will come home myself.“ I noticed Nathan's eyes were on me. I probably shouldn't be talking about my family issues around strangers.
“No, once I am done with her, I will come back to get you.” He said, and I ended the call.
Nathan eyeballed me for a second. It made me anxious, so I decided to initiate a conversation.
“When is Natalie coming back?” I asked, clearing my throat.
“Why are you asking about her? I am keeping you company. That should be enough.“
“You make me nervous,” I blurted out, regretting it instantly. I didn't mean it that way…
I looked at him, and he had a smirk on his face.
“It's not what you think, don't think ahead of yourself little boy.” I palm faced myself.
“Just admit you have a crush on me, earth won't flip over.” He said, too cocky.
“I don't and earth for sure will, eww! You were staring too much earlier, and it made me anxious.“ I said.
“You had me wondering how you are Romano Keith's daughter.” He said. My eyeballs widened.
