**Benjamin's POV**
My official visit to the Golden Moon Pack was scheduled for noon.
I arrived at nine.
I had always preferred seeing a pack as it truly was rather than the polished version they presented to royalty.
As our convoy crossed into the pack territory, I observed everything carefully.
The pack was larger than most I had visited, yet something felt off.
The roads were poorly maintained.
Several buildings showed signs of neglect.
The territory lacked the development one would expect from a pack of this size.
Yet in the distance stood the Alpha's residence.
Large.
Elegant.
Well-maintained.
The contrast immediately bothered me.
A pack reflected its leadership.
And from what I could already see, something wasn't right.
I stepped out of the vehicle as my security team took their positions around me.
The morning air was cool and calm.
Then it happened.
A scent drifted toward me.
Sweet.
Warm.
Intoxicating.
Cinnamon.
Peach.
My entire body froze.
For a moment, the world around me ceased to exist.
My heart slammed against my ribs.
My Lycan surged forward violently.
**Mate.**
The word echoed through my mind.
Every instinct inside me came alive.
After years of waiting...
After years of wondering if fate had forgotten me...
She was here.
My mate.
In this pack.
So close that I could practically feel her.
I closed my eyes briefly and inhaled again.
The scent wrapped around me like a drug.
Beautiful.
Pure.
Perfect.
Mine.
My Lycan growled possessively.
He wanted control.
Wanted to find her.
Wanted to claim her.
I was struggling to maintain control when a scream shattered the morning.
"HELP ME!"
My eyes snapped open.
The sound struck me like a physical blow.
Fear.
Pain.
Desperation.
I felt every ounce of it.
Not because I heard it.
Because I felt it.
Through the bond.
My mate was terrified.
My Lycan roared.
A dangerous growl escaped my throat.
The guards surrounding me immediately became alert.
"Your Highness?"
I ignored them.
Another scream echoed through the air.
Louder.
More desperate.
More broken.
Something dark awakened inside me.
Someone was hurting her.
Someone was making my mate cry.
The protective instincts of both man and Lycan exploded to life.
Without another word, I took off running.
The scent guided me.
Every hallway I crossed carried traces of her.
Fear.
Tears.
Panic.
And beneath it all...
Her scent.
The sweetest thing I had ever encountered.
Behind me, my security team struggled to keep up.
I didn't care.
Nothing mattered except reaching her.
Another scent suddenly reached me.
Male.
Alpha.
Aggressive.
My vision darkened.
Rage flooded my veins.
I followed the scents down a long hallway until I reached a closed door.
My mate was inside.
I could feel it.
Her fear was overwhelming.
So was my fury.
My Lycan pushed forward.
No longer asking permission.
Demanding blood.
I welcomed it.
Whoever was inside that room was about to learn why Lycans ruled above wolves.
Without hesitation, I slammed the door open.
The bedroom was empty.
My growl deepened.
The scent trail continued.
Bathroom.
The bathroom door was shut.
Then I heard movement inside.
And a male voice.
"Stop struggling!"
The sound of her whimper followed.
That was all it took.
The last thread of my control snapped.
Using both my strength and my Lycan's, I drove my shoulder into the bathroom door.
The wood exploded inward.
The sight that greeted me nearly drove me insane.
An Alpha stood inside.
Half-dressed.
Furious.
And beneath the running shower...
Curled against the wall...
Was my mate.
Her clothes were torn.
Her body trembled violently.
Tears mixed with the water streaming down her face.
Fear filled her scent.
The sight unleashed something savage inside me.
My Lycan erupted.
Before the Alpha could react, I grabbed him by the throat and hurled him across the room.
His body crashed into the wall with enough force to c***k it.
I didn't care whether he lived or died.
The only thing that mattered was her.
My mate.
She looked up.
For one brief second, our eyes met.
Beautiful silver eyes widened in shock.
Relief flickered across her face.
Then her body went limp.
"No!"
I caught her before she could hit the floor.
She weighed almost nothing in my arms.
Far too light.
Far too fragile.
A fresh wave of fury swept through me.
What kind of pack allowed one of their own to live like this?
Carefully, I wrapped my jacket around her trembling body and lifted her into my arms.
My security team arrived moments later.
Every one of them froze at the scene.
"Get the pack doctor," I ordered coldly.
"Now."
No one hesitated.
I carried my mate from the room without another glance at the Alpha lying unconscious on the floor.
If he survived, I would deal with him later.
For now, my mate came first.
Only after the doctor had examined her and assured me she would recover did I finally allow myself to think.
Questions flooded my mind.
Why had my mate been in that room?
Why had she been terrified?
Why had no one answered her cries for help?
And most importantly...
Where were the Alpha and Luna of this pack while all of this was happening?
Something was very wrong in the Golden Moon Pack.
And I intended to uncover every ugly secret they were hiding.
