There was pure panic as all the members scrambled around the arena. Alpha Stone had his guards rounding up members of the River Pack and I hoped that Simon would escape. I couldn’t explain why but I felt an urge to protect him and run after him.
I shifted back to my human form and saw my chance to slip through the gate and took it. Knowing Simon he would head through the forest to the river. His pack had a special connection to the water and I was sure they would meet up there. I made my way through the trees until heard the river flowing ahead. I decided to shift and smell around looking for signs of Simon. I was walking along the shore when the salty smell of the ocean and rustic driftwood hit my nose. I knew I was close and it was getting dark. These wolf eyes were the best!
I rounded a bend in the river when I saw him. He was pleading to the Moon Goddess and I hide behind a Boulder. All of the sudden Simon started to glow and I saw him shifting.
Then before me stood a stunning silver wolf that glowed by the rivers edge. My heart started pounding and I felt the need to wrap my arms around him. I wasn’t going to show myself just yet but decided to follow him when he suddenly bolted into the woods.
I soon realized we were almost to River Pack lands and it was probably best for me to stay back. There was a chill in the air and I knew I should head back to our pack house. I’m sure everyone left the arena and departed quickly. Mother and Father would be worried and I wasn’t sure what would happen next. Alpha Stone declared war with the River Pack and our pack would need to take a side.
I turned and headed for home still in my wolf form. I wanted to see what all I could do.

Doc James took care of my fathers body and I made my way to his office. I hadn’t been there in months and I knew plans would need to be made.
As I sat there I got a link from Tyler.
“Where are you? Did you make it out? I am back in pack lands with the few who escaped.”
“ Yes, I am in my fathers office, don’t tell the others just yet but the Alpha is gone.”
Tyler didn’t respond and I knew he was processing all that was about to take place.
It was roughly thirty minutes later when Tyler finally made his way to my fathers office, or my office I guess. We discussed funeral arrangements and having my Alpha ceremony. There was going to be a war and we were heavily out numbered.
As I walked down the hall I ran into Minerva, our packs oldest living member.
“Hello Minerva, do you need me to walk you home? It’s getting late.”
“No son I need to speak with you. There is much you don’t know about our history. It’s time you knew, normally your father and mother would’ve had this talk with you but sadly that is not an option.”
I was sure that I looked confused. I knew much about our history. The three Packs were the last remaining in the world who had the old magic. Many packs across the world had become domesticated by moving closer into the human populations. All of our magic was very much intertwined with nature.
“ There is more going on then you know. I will be here to guide you but you must trust your wolf. The Moon Goddess has found your mate and you must seek her out. Without her we will never be strong enough to stand in the war to come. There are evils at play and we must get ready.” Minerva said.
She turned and walked away from me leaving me speechless. I felt a growl in my chest as I thought about finding my mate. Maybe I should travel to the Forest Pack and speak with Alpha Cole.
I decided to head back to my office and make plans. I linked Tyler “We are leaving at dawn for Forest Pack, get what warriors we have left ready to leave.”
“Yes Alpha, but may I suggest we leave a few here in case Alpha Stone attacks while we travel?”
I agreed and finalized our plans for traveling. It would only take a day to get there and I knew I must become Alpha tonight if I ever stood a chance.
After gathering what was left of our pack Minerva spoke on my behalf. She cut the palm of my hand poured some of my blood into the fire she had started. There was a growl making it’s way to my lips and I shifted before I could stop myself. Everyone gasped when they saw the glow of my silver fur. Rajat came to the front of my mind and spoke to the pack.
“As your Alpha I promise to protect our pack and get us the respect we deserve.” His deep voice boomed.
Everyone cheered as I walked back to the pack house. Once at the door I shifted back and headed for my room.
The next evening we arrived at Forest Pack and we headed for the front door. The closer we got I started to notice an enticing fragrance. It smelt like sweat sage and berries and I could feel Rajat trying to take control. Suddenly I noticed her. Her long blonde hair flowed in the wind and the setting sun made her brown eyes sparkle. I felt a deep desire for her in my groin and every inch of me wanted to wrap her up in my arms.
“MATE!” Rajat hollered at me “Mate is here go to mate!”

I stood in front of the pack house watching the sun set when I smelt it again, the salty ocean and drift wood. I turned around to to see Simon standing there with his beta Tyler. I could feel Aelia dancing in my soul as she giggled “ Mate! Our mate is here!”
Then like a ton of bricks my father slammed the door behind me!
“What do you think you are doing here you piece of trash! How dare you come to my door step after Alpha Stone declared war on you!”
I saw Simon’s eyes burn with rage as he glared at my father.
“I am Simon Alpha of The River Pack and you will NOT speak to me that way. I came to seek peace with you and your pack but I am seeing that is not an option.”
The look on my fathers face told me that things were about to get ugly and I felt the need to be by Simons side. I started to walk towards him when my father grabbed my arm.
“Where do you think you are going?” He hissed at me.
“To my my mate.”
He looked dumb founded. Just then mother came around the corner and her face was full of dread. “ you can’t be mated to him! I won’t allow it! You will reject him immediately!”
The thought of rejecting him made my heart ache! I couldn’t and wouldn’t do it!
My father yelled for his guards to take me to my room and told Simon to leave our lands.
“No I want to be with my mate! You can’t do this!” I yelled as the guards grabbed my arms.
They yanked me in to the pack house and slammed the door behind us.
