Sawyer stared at the empty plate in front of her as Quinn finished retelling the nightmare they endured these last few days. The white plates had a red line circling the rim. The contents had been greatly enjoyed and the remnants of meat and potatoes were small, none big enough to be consumed. Quinn rested his hands on the wooden counter before Sawyer looked up at Adrian. Sawyer vaguely remembered seeing her around town when her parents were alive, but her hair wasn’t silvery white then. Her deep brown eyes never left Quinn’s face and silence lingered in the air.
