ijele became an important part of her father cabinet because she helped the king solve a murder of a kid about a year after joining the king cabinet it all happened like.

the families of madu and nedu has been friends for generations dating back to the days of their grandparents and the madu,s has always been wealthier family because they trade in gold and bronze but the nedu family were framers madu family being the wealthiest family in the villages had a lot of lands and madu father gave out on piece of his land to nedu father with the promise to return it whenever he was in need of the land so nedu family farmed on the land till the both man passed away and the children nedu and madu knew about this arrangement and they have no problem with it till ten years after the passing of madu father gold was found in the land in large quantity nedu became greedy and started making plans to start mining the gold when madu found out about it and he confronted nedu to give him back his land but nedu refused so madu took the matter to the chiefs in his village and got back the land after the judgement nedu promised to hurt madu so they both were no longer friends few months later nedu went with kegs of palm wine and kola nuts to beg madu and at first madu was hesitant but his wife told him to forgive and forget and move on with his life soon they became friends again time pasted and all was forgotten one evening madu was relaxing out in his compound when nedu and his first son visited madu the two friends greeted and chairs was brought for nedu and his son and madu offered them dried meat and Palm wine and while they were discussing madu first son you just finished eating came out to thank his father and saw nedu and greeted him "mazi good evening sir" and nedu replied "good evening my son look how big you have grown what kind of food are you giving this boy madu he is already a man in his age come my son come and take some dried meat" madu son refused saying thank you sir but I'm full already I just finished eating sir" and nedu replied "is this what you are teaching your son to now reject things from me" and madu replied "son come and take the meat" and the boy came and took the meat and left for his hut nedu son followed him when they got into the hut nedu son asked for the meat and madu gave him the meat and nedu son ate the meat one hour later the two men was outside still discussing when they heard a loud screaming from madu son's hut they both ran there on getting there they saw the nedu son on the floor of the hut with white foam coming from his mouth nedu shouted "what's wrong with him" muda son was standing by the wall of the hut crying with his hands on his head nedu rushed and tried to lift his son and saw he was cold and shouted at madu son "what happened to my son I ask you" and the boy replied "I gave him the meat you gave me" and he shouted "so you and your father tried to kill me you couldn't so you killed my son" and nedu started shouting calling on all the villagers people came and madu and nedu and the dead boy was taken to the palace but the matter couldn't be deliberated on that day because it was dark already and the king has retired for the day madu was put in the prison pending the trials the next day the next came people was gathered in palace because the matter has travelled far and near nedu gave his side of the story so did madu after the king and the chiefs were deliberating on the matter when ijele came in with a piece of back stone in her hands and said "this is the stone from amadioha shrine" took it to where madu was being held gave it to madu and said "swear that you didn't poison the meat or gave the order for the meat to be poisoned" and madu took the stone and swear and she took same stone to nedu and gave it to him and told him to do same nedu said "but your majesty why would you think I would kill the first fruit of my loins" ijele replied "since you have nothing to fear then swear" and the people around shouted swear!!! the king spoke silence! everywhere was quite again and he continued "since you know you have nothing to fear then swear because if you refuse then that means you are guilty and you know what is done to those who are found guilty of murder" fear overtook nedu he was visibly shaking and he didn't know when words left his mouth "I didn't mean to kill my son the meat was meant for madu son" everyone shouted in surprise he continued "madu has not just one land but three land laden with gold which he mine why can't he leaves the land my fathers farm on all these years for me when gold was found on it that's why I decided to deal with him but my son ate the meat instead of his son your majesty please have mercy" he said crying then the king said "guards! take this murder away from my sight and behead him immediately so this serves as lesson to all greedy men"
