A Frozen Heart

    Snow oh how cold it is, yet despite the discomfort it brings it is still lovely to look at. When it falls and covers everything with its beautiful crystal like appearance, it's like being in a new magical land. Snow is smooth and graceful like a ballroom fool of dancing strangers. I watched the snow fall and blow around me and I can't help but close my eyes and listen to the winter music it created. I smile at the thought “maybe if I dance with them I can escape from the real world, and be free.” Raising my arms to a motion as if I had a dance partner. I stood up onto my toes and began to dance to the cold waltz. As my feet stepped into new snow with every movement I became more relaxed. I could feel the snow wrapping itself around me as if it wanted to lead me. The music was so beautiful that I didn't even realize that the storm had lifted me from the ground and was spinning me around in its icey ballroom. I started to hear a man's voice singing light words I couldn't make out. “ but how? We are in the sky.” I thought to myself. I was nervous thinking if i have died in the storm or if i have finally gone crazy. I was so in my own mind I didn't notice that I had stopped dancing. I felt a cold hand grab my left hand and pulled me closer to a hard frozen muscular body. He gently laid my other hand on his shoulder that was quite large as he grasped me by my back and took a step that led me to follow him. He started to move us around the blizzard with ease. He spun me around to the music as he sang to the instruments. We danced that way so long I didn't realize that my body started to feel heavy. I opened my eyes to see who this angel of a man I had come in contact with. I looked up to only see long black hair that framed the iceyest blue eyes I had ever seen. I reached up to touch the face I couldn't make out. As I touched his face I noticed that my skin was purple. I gasped and his eyes looked sad as he stared at me. He grabbed me and picked me up into his arms. I leaned against his chest wondering what was happening to me. I didn't notice till I looked up that we had started to slowly float downward. When I heard his feet touch the snow covered ground I looked around. We were surrounded by a frozen forest. He started to walk with me in his arms, but only a few steps from where we landed. He gently sat me down on my feet and whistled. I wondered what he was doing when I heard commotion coming from the forest. I looked up and saw the biggest horse I had ever seen, but looking closer at this beast it was like no other. He was white with vein like purple marks all over its body. His hair was like millions of snowflakes had gathered to create strands. His eyes were not like its masters, they were more like a black pit. Before I could think he threw himself onto this massive creature. He reached down and picked me up and sat me in front of him. He kept me against him and strolled us through the frozen forest. I didn't know where we were going but I didn't care. When I looked around I recognized where we were at. Before long we walked into the opening near my family's home. He jumped off the beast and gently pulled me into his arms and carried me towards the old cottage. He walked so gracefully to the front door it was like we were levitating just barely off the ground. . when we entered it was dark and gloomy. as we passed through the house it seemed everyone was asleep. He made it to my room so quietly it was like he had done this before. He gently laid me down on my bed as if I was the most fragile thing in the world, and from the way I could barely move I could believe it. He covered me up and softly touched my face with his hand, and without a word stood to leave. I reached out without thinking and grabbed his arm. “Please stay” i said with a shaky voice ”even if only till sunrise” he turned and stared at me with those piercing eyes. He then clasped my hand in his and nodded. He laid down in my bed and turned to face me. We stared at each other and it seemed like forever. I watched as his eyes started to close, then I too could feel myself falling asleep. I closed my eyes, and for a moment it seemed like time had stopped. I felt the bed move as he got up but I dared not open my eyes. He gently brushed my hair out of my face and like a fairy tale I felt his cold lips press a kiss to mine. “ I will come back for you, wait for the fern ice to reappear and I will return'' he whispered and just like thin air he was gone. I laid in my bed feeling the warmth coming back to my body and when I opened my eyes all that was left in his place was a blue rose and frostbite that had nipped at its edges.
