CHAPTER 60 Megan sat with her head in her hands, resting her elbows on the cafeteria table. She wondered how Scott and Susannah could stand the stress of Kitty’s hospital stay without turning into horrible, irritable people. By their third day at the Seattle hospital, Megan found herself in such a surly mood she came here to the cafeteria so she wouldn’t end up lashing out at anyone. Kitty’s condition hadn’t worsened. That was the one blessing, but any improvements were progressing at about the rate of a snail inching its way along a garden gate. It wasn’t right.
