CHAPTER 39 Brad walked into the kitchen where his mom was sweeping the floor. “Grandma Lucy’s down for the night.” She smiled. “Good. It’s been quite the adventurous day for you, hasn’t it?” “Something like that,” he replied. “Would you like some iced tea?” She held out a glass. Brad pulled out a chair. “Need a hand with anything?” he asked before he sat down. “No, just finishing up in here. Why don’t you keep me company for a little bit, and when I’m done we can go tuck the animals in for the night.” “Okay.” Brad knew he could never move back to Orchard Grove long-term, but there was something comforting about the thought of a nice, relaxing summer here.
