CHAPTER 8-THE KIDNAPPING (PART 2)

Meanwhile, Haruto has got another idea by investing another beggar kid to lure them in, which means the fake father has 2 fake kids right now. Maybe this can lure those masked men to target them faster. In short, the constables separate their plan into two. As usual, the fake father brought his children to the Taoist temple for study in the morning, but this time he brought two of them. Surely, one of the Taoist priests noticed it. So the priest grew curious and asked him about the other one. The fake father told them it was his older brother's kid. His older brother lived in another town near the capital city. He and his brother will join an escort caravan team to escort something. Since wages were quite high, he and his brother enrolled so they could meet the caravan team later, as it would depart at night. On the other hand, his sister-in-law will stay at his house for a couple of days to watch the kids until he and his brother come back. So, from tomorrow, it will be his sister-in-law who brings these two kids to the temple here. Then the fake father went back to his house until his departure with his brother. Surely the Taoist priests send their men to watch if it's true. The constable also realized they were being followed. So they decided to play-act with the fake father and his fake brother coming out of the house, which was sent by the brother's wife and two of those kids, as they were acting to bid farewell to those 2 brothers who were going to join the caravan team. After seeing that, the Taoist men quickly went home and informed the Taoist priest of what they had both seen. It seemed to be true. Since the king gave the priest a deadline to create the pill, they had to get more children sooner to hasten the process. Finally, they started targeting the fake children from the constable side. One night, three masked men came in quietly at midnight, as they thought only a woman would stay in the house with two kids, so it would be easy. As usual, they drugged the people inside the house with their anesthetic powder. Then they broke into the house to get those two kids. One of them remembered that their comrades said the brother's wife was quite beautiful. So he planned to take the woman as well, as he wanted to channel his lust through that woman. However, they were wrong. The woman on the bed was actually Haruto in disguise, and he had already covered his breath by stuffing his nose. When one of them was going to touch him, Haruto quickly got up and grabbed that man's hand to get closer and used his other hand to point a short dagger at that man’s neck. Then the other two masked men realized they were ambushed, so they immediately took those two kids by running away and left their comrade there. The one that was held by Haruto quickly resisted and tried to fight Haruto so he could run away, since he knew Haruto wouldn't kill him. Soon, a fight broke out between the masked men and Haruto inside the house. Meanwhile, the other two masked men who brought the kids were also trying to fight their way out when they were surrounded by the constables' team. They scattered away and, hopefully, one of them could still manage to escape. Both of them throw a smoke bomb onto the ground to confuse the constable team so they can get away. Obviously, they were quite skillful martial artists. After throwing the smoke bomb, they quickly use the lightness skill to jump onto the roof, one by one. Some of the constables saw it, so they quickly chased the masked men by using the lightness skill as well. The masked men were also well prepared, carrying not only a smoke bomb but also some flying daggers. So the masked men throw some daggers at the constables' side to slow them down. On the other hand, the remaining constables who can't use the lightness skill are also chased off the road. They tried to surround the masked men again, hoping to catch them alive. In short, one of the masked men managed to escape, but the other one didn't, as he had already died. However, he didn’t die in the constable's hand, but in fact, he was suicidal as he knew he could get away. He threw away the kid that he had held in his hand earlier, in hopes that the constables were busy catching the kid, and he could escape. However, he was wrong. One of the constables who had expertise in shooting arrows shot his leg. That's why he fell from the roof. Afterward, before the constable laid their hands on him, the injured masked man immediately pulled out a dagger from his pocket and slit his own throat.
