I couldn’t help myself. I laughed. “Cow Poo . . . is that a real place?” Louie scratched his head through his hat. “Maybe it was Cow Pie. It don’t set off no bells no more.” Tilly came by for a handout. Zach was right behind, crossing the yard to investigate the lunch offering. He slung his legs over the bench and grabbed a slice of bread with his dirty hands. He wrapped the bread around a bologna slice and gobbled half of it. He dropped the rest on the bench for Tilly. She nabbed it like it was trying to escape. “Who made lunch?” Zach inquired with one cheek bulging out. “I didn’t make it, Zachary. I brought it from the kitchen.” That was explanation enough. Zach took another and assembled it the same way. He pushed it in to fill the opposite cheek. “Thanks for lunch, Sydney,” he said
