This is my story

Lyra POV

It was the final day at school for the senior class. All the seniors plan to go to the beach after we leave the rundown of graduation. My best friend Axel picked me up so we could go to rehearsal together, so I planned to leave with him. If you are wondering who I am.... My name is Lyra. I am the oldest daughter of Athena and Adam, Alpha and Luna of the Redwood Pack. I have 2 other siblings I love, and we have all grown very close, especially since mom's death.

Even though I look forward to graduating & going to college, I still love my family, and plan to stay in my hometown area and so does Axel. Knowing this made me feel more at ease that I was not alone in my choice to stay close to home. Tonight was something to celebrate, not just for the graduation that was happening tonight. I was on the final countdown to my 18th birthday one week after my graduation tonight. I kissed my dad on the cheek as I ran out the door in my swimsuit with a bag of extra clothes & a towel on the other hand. I could hear my dad mumble Where are you going? So, of course, I went back into the house and kissed him on the cheek again.

I am going to the beach, the whole senior class is, and I'll meet you at my graduation ceremony, Axel's taking me to the beach and graduation. I kissed the top of my dad's head and walked out the door smiling at him as he shook his head and smiled and went back to the bill's calculations for the month. I got in the car & Axel was just staring at me. I looked at him & waited for him to tell me. All he did was shake his head before he began driving to his house. We reached his parkland and I always waited to get sick when I would come on his packland.

Only it would never happen. My mother had a theory that if you went on someone else's land without getting sick, you were their mate, or you were a part of that pack in a past life, or you were stolen from that pack. No one has ever been able to prove it. I waited in the car for him to grab his things. Soaking up the sun with the top of the car down while I waited for Axel, I had my eyes closed when I heard the door shut. When I opened my eyes & saw it was none other than Gary.

I didn't care for him at all. He was always hitting on me, and not to mention when we did date he cheated on me. What the hell do you want, Gary? You better get out of Axel's car? I'm lucky he allows me to get in this specific car every once in a while. "Oh, why should I?

Besides, you know that we belong together. We should never have separated," said Gary. Look, get out of Axel's car now, I dated you because I thought you would be the one. Then I found out you were not. I had so many reasons to leave you, as for the main reason why I left you, it was because you cheated on me with 7 different girls in the 3 months that we dated. That right there was enough to end the relationship.

Let's be honest, I am honestly in love with someone else. I don't want to admit it, but I love Axel. He has been there for me through everything. He was there when I found out I had endometriosis and helped take care of me when I was sick. He was there for me when mom died and at the funeral. He has done way more for me than you ever did, so leave me alone and get out of Axel's car.

You're nothing to me but a gross pig. Out of nowhere I heard, "Gary get the F*** out of my car and leaves Lyra alone." said Axel in a very stern tone. I turned bright red, wondering how much he heard. I hoped he hadn't heard anything as far as me liking him. I have never seen Gary run so fast. He just wanted to be with me because he figured out that my sister Alaina & I have special gifts, that could make him go from Omega to Alpha if we were to mate.

Gary was an Omega in Axel's pack. Typically, when you are in the Alpha range, the lowest you ever mate is with a Gamma. On extremely rare occasions, you can mate with an Omega, but it is more typical for an Alpha when he/she mates with a mate that it's with someone who is no lower than a gamma rank. The more I thought about things the more I hoped he didn't hear what I had said to Gary. Once Axel got in the car, we headed off to the beach. I looked forward to the beach.

I can't swim, so I, of course, stay where I can touch & Axel goes into the water with me. I use floaties If I go any deeper, but I usually stay where I can touch the bottom. I have been taking swimming lessons so I have gotten a little better, but I am still afraid to go too deep. My favorite part of the beach day was when the water balloon fight started. My wolf, Misty, loved it. She shined through a few times, and only very few knew about her.

I wasn't supposed to get her till my 18th birthday but she came on my 16th birthday. Mom got to see her before she passed. None of the other pack members except family knew about her, because I have the same gifts as my mom, so we had to be careful about who we told. My little sister had recently got her wolf on her 16th birthday. She was upset that mom wasn't here for her when she got her wolf. My little sister was set to graduate in 2 years, & then my brother a year after her.

I knew once I hit my birthday it was going to be hard because I would also find my mate & leave the pack eventually. I didn't want to leave my family & pack, but I hoped that if that time came we would somehow still get to be close to each other. I knew my little sister needed me now more than ever, especially since she broke up with her boyfriend because he was hurting her. He was an omega in our pack & the choice was either his parents punished him or my dad would. If our dad punished him, because my sister is potentially another Luna and a Lycan princess just like me, it would be the death penalty. No 1 hurts a future Luna/ princess.

Today will be a day for fun though and that's the way I wanted it to stay. I will remember my mother when celebrating my birthday in a week from today. A few hours later, I realized Axel & I had to get back at my house to get ready. My little sister was curling my hair & doing my make-up, while Axel was getting dressed. After we were done, I went to put my blue summer dress & light blue heels on. I didn't care to dress up like this very often, but today was a special occasion.

Since our pack owned a huge farm & we all worked hard taking care of the animals & the fruit & vegetable garden that my mom had started many years ago. It was fun for us kids because we got to dig, then plant seeds, & watch them grow. Something I loved was mom & I planted a tree the day she found out she was pregnant with Alaina. When mom passed we buried her under the tree. I already knew dad wanted to be buried there with her too. He loved mom very much & I knew he missed her everyday.

I didn't even realize how deep into my thoughts I was till Alaina told me I was done with my make up and hair. I made my way down the stairs carrying my shoes instead of wearing them down the steps. I figured it would be safer for not just me but anyone surrounding me. Alaina was better at walking in heels than me. I preferred tennis shoes or flats to be honest. Heels were so bad for your feet, I was just glad that Axel was going to walk with me since we got to choose who we wanted to walk with.

I sat down and slipped on my heels, and almost fell when I stood back up. Thank goodness for Axel because he caught me. Besides he was going to help keep me steady since I was in 3 inch heels & going down steps at the graduation. Any higher & he would have to carry me down. When I walked down the stairs outside my little sister, brother, and father were waiting on Axel and I. I had my gown & cap in one hand, & holding onto the hand carved wooden railing that we all took turns carving.

They dropped their jaws as I made my way down the final few steps before I started to wobble. Of course Axel caught me when I began to fall & steadied me. When we got outside Axel had the foot stool pulled out so I could get into his truck. We had switched to his truck before we came home because it was going to be easier than his other car. Plus he did not want his other car to get hit or something at the graduation when everyone left. People were crazy when it came to driving after celebrations like that.

I hated climbing in his truck unless It was in boots or tennis shoes. We all left & made our way to the graduation ceremony. I looked forward to graduation. Time has passed fast & I couldn't wait to be 18. It will be 2 years since mom passed away and today was feeling very bitter-sweet. I really wish she could be here.

I will forever & always miss her. I knew I still had my dad, my brother and sister, but I still wanted my mother too. Axel and I were the first ones to be called. They usually try to do alphabetically, but this time they did it a different way. When we made it to the stares I was so nervous to walk down the steps, Axel just picked me up and carried me down. It freaked me out because he just scooped me up out of nowhere and all I could do was hold on tight to him till we made it to the bottom.

He set me down slowly and held me around my waist till I was steady enough to walk. Even then I still held onto his arm to keep from falling over. We sat back down and waited for the ceremony to be completed. Before we knew it, the ceremony was over and we all threw our caps in the air and shouted class of 2025. It felt so good to graduate from high school and I was going to get to move on to college. I knew over the next year it was going to be harder for Axel because he was taking over Alpha responsibilities soon and going to school, but regardless he was still happy and ready to celebrate tonight.
