Chapter 1

Kim's POV I stood with my mouth agape as I stared in awe at the mansion that stood in front of me. This is nothing like the hotels you see in movies, this is ten times better. The estate has sleek, automated gates that open to a dark stone driveway leading to a modern mansion. The landscaping is clean, with neat flower beds, zen rock gardens, and a koi pond with a small bridge. The mansion is mostly glass and steel, with large windows and flat roofs. The design is simple but striking, with clean lines and sections that jut out. The main entrance has sliding glass doors that open to the inside. I walked towards the pond in the garden to look at the fish. The koi pond was calm and clear, sparkling in the sunlight. Colorful koi fish—bright orange, white, and gold—swam smoothly in the water. Water lilies floated on top, with pink and white flowers. A small bridge crossed the pond, perfect for watching the fish. The gentle sound of water from a nearby fountain made it even more peaceful, creating a relaxing spot in the garden. If I lived here, I'd spend every minute of my free time in this garden. Cos damn, it's simply amazing. “What are you doing?” a deep and smooth voice asked from behind me. I whipped my head around and oh my f*****g God. Henry and Drew have never been more wrong before. Fuck they all lied to me. Henry, Drew, every f*****g person on the internet lied to me. That all f*****g lied. How could they do that to me? They said he is handsome, but f**k no! They lied. He's a f*****g god. Standing at an impressive 6'3", he has the physique of a Greek god, with broad shoulders, a sculpted chest, and a chiseled jawline. His striking blue eyes, the color of a clear summer sky, are both captivating and intense, able to pierce through a person with a single glance. His dark hair is thick and wavy, perfectly complementing his strong facial features. His skin is tanned and flawless, hinting at an active, outdoor lifestyle. His voice is deep and resonant, with a smooth, rich tone that commands attention. “They f*****g lied to me” I muttered slowly, but loud enough for him to hear. “What?” He asked, squinting his eyes in confusion. I noticed his brows creased forming wrinkle lines between them. God, He's handsome. He snapped his fingers at my face three times. “I asked you a question missy. What are you doing here?” Okay, that was rude. Is he rude? I thought. “What?” He asked. f**k I didn't think it, I said it out loud. I called him rude out loud. Talk about Typical Kim. Gathering my thoughts and composure, I said: “Never mind that. I'm here to apply for the position you advertised online.” “Huh? You what? And you couldn't fill the application form online and wait to be reached out to?” He asked after a few seconds of silence. I think he was bewildered or something. “No.” I simply said. “What?” he asked. Is that the only word he knows? Gosh, I'm tired of hearing him repeat it over and over. “I said no. I couldn't just sit back and hope to be reached out to. Matter of fact, I didn't even fill out the form. What are the odds of being picked out of 1537 applicants? So I came here instead.” I clarified with my signature wide grin. The one that hunts Mr. Adams's dreams. Lol. I noticed his features change as I explained why I was in his house. It went from confusion to shock, to surprise, and finally stopped at exasperation. He opened his mouth to say something, and I interrupted him. “Please don't say ‘what’.” “What?” he asked. Didn't I just say not to say that word? What is wrong with this man? I facepalmed. “Did you not hear a word I said?” I was going to repeat myself when he interrupted me. “I heard you, I heard you don't repeat yourself. So you came all the way here just to apply for a job you saw online?” “Correct,” I replied. He still looked surprised. What is it with him? People go for job interviews in person, why's this different? And why is he acting like there's fire on my head? “Who let you in?” He asked. I grinned. “I did.” “You did? How?” “I guessed the combinations, and got it right,” I said with a proud smile. He looked amused. What's with him? What's funny? “Okay. I guess we have a real genius here. Do you have your CV?” He stretched out his perfectly manicured hands and motioned for me to give him my CV. I unzipped my backpack, took out my CV, and gave it to him. He skimmed through it and asked what position I'd like to apply for. “Any position that'd let me see you every day,” I said. My eyes still savoring the mouth-watering sight in front of me. At this point, I might jump on him and devour him. “Wha… I mean why?” I'm glad he caught himself because I'm so f*****g tired of repeating myself. ‘Because I have a bet to win, and seeing you every day would hasten up the process’. Don't worry, I didn't say that out loud this time. Lol. Instead, I said, “Because you are one fine piece of art." "Pick yourself up. Close your mouth too, you don't want flies feasting in there. Can you cook?" I didn't know I left my mouth open this whole time. I immediately closed my mouth in a robotic motion. And did he just ask if I can cook? Of course, I can. "Yes, yes I can cook," I found myself saying. "Okay, Perfect. You have the job. I have a senior chef already, you'll work with her, so this won't be too hard on you." Oh my God. I got the job.
