Between Vikings

"Well, that was a heck of a shot, Robert", shouted his friend when Robert was practicing for his upcoming match against Downtown High. He is too concerned about that match because selectors of NFSHSA(National Federation of State High School Associations), and he follows basketball as his future career. Robert lives in the small town of Greenwood, in the Indiana state of the U.S.A, with his mother. His father passed away two months ago in a road accident, and now the only working person in the family is Robert, who works as a delivery guy in a pizza parlour and gets paid enough to let everything important work for him. His family had to cut short a lot to survive after his father's death because his father was the police chief of the city and Robert's salary is nothing compared to his father. He is trying very hard for the upcoming match because getting selected for state basketball team also means a good salary.  After spending the whole afternoon practising, he returned home exhausted, had a short nap and got ready for his job. While leaving for his job, his mother said, "Come home early, Robert. I have to discuss something important with you."  "Please discuss it now, mom, because I don't want to walk in for the job with an occupied head." "It will take a lot of time and you will get late for the job." "But can't you even tell me the topic of the discussion." "It will add on to your tension, honey." "Ok mom, I'll try.", saying this, he walked out, slamming the door behind him. Martha, Robert's mother, sat on a couch, sinking her head into her arms crying. She can't understand how to tell her son about her pregnancy, adding the burden of a newborn on his pocket with which they can barely manage their usual chores.
