Prologue
The pitter-patter of her frantic feet left an impression like of rain on the cold hard tarred road. Her breathes made little smoke-like puffs like that from a train. She was cold. This train was out of control, a raving lunatic at the least. She looked behind her but her vision was blurry. They’re coming, was all she could hear. Hurry before they catch you. Run, In... Something had stopped her. It’s grip on her shoulders was firm and strong and although it tightened even more when she struggled, she couldn’t be caught. “Let go of me,” she seemed to scream. The words weren’t coming out, only the rapid breathes. The boy holding her by the shoulders looked at her, the girl he had bumped into. She was a black girl with beautiful kinky hair but her rapid breathes were alarming. She was having a panic attack, he realized. “Hey!” he shook her. “Hey!” he shook her again. For a split moment her eyes calmed down and instead of a pure look of madness, her eyes had focused a bit. But it was only for a moment because a moment later the fragile girl began to panic again. He took his inhaler out of his jean pocket and forced it through her teeth. “Breathe. Take a deep breath.”he gently commanded her. At first she struggled as she was fighting the panic attack which only succeeded in making her panic even more. Maybe this was her first panic attack. “Hush. Hush. It’s going to be okay. I have got you. Don’t worry.” Her breathes started to slow down. She was having more success in controlling her breathes. After a while she had calmed down. She tiredly pressed herself against him and gripped his shirt in handfuls. For a moment he though she was having another panic attack until he realized that she was softly sobbing. He hugged her shaking body. Who was she? And why had she been running? And one thing was for sure, a girl all alone in this part of the park woods meant trouble.
