Ella's POV
It's been weeks since I saw Adriane. Aside from the casual text messages she sent asking how my day was, she haven't even called me. I don't know why but she's more fond of texting than calling, I mean I won't charge her for a call. She would sent text messages at night but because I was too tired at work, I would often fall asleep while waiting for her reply. Maybe she's busy? I thought, she did mention that she got a part time work at City Hall but her class at the University won't start until January which is like 4 months away. I sat upright on my chair, resting my back and deeply sighing. I miss her, I admitted to my self.
"You look exhausted, want to enjoy the rest of the night?" my best friend and co-worker, Julia said walking towards me. "Yeah, maybe I could use some drink" I agreed. "Finally! Your mom will be thrilled knowing that you'll go out today" she responded excitedly.
We went to the bar where we usually hang out. "Tell me something about her?" Julia asked which caught me off guard. "Sorry, about who?" I answered playing dumb. "I don't know who, I just figured you are crushing on someone. Look, I'm your best friend since college and I haven't seen you in a while acting like this, so spill it out." Julia said while drinking from her glass.
"I work with her nephew and she's just new here in Canada" I started the conversation. I told her that she's a Psychology graduate like us, Julia is just looking at me smiling. "So what does she look like? Is she hot? " she asked. "I'm not answering that, maybe you can just look at her yourself if ever you two meet." I replied avoiding the question. "I'm sure she's good looking, she wouldn't have gotten your attention if she's not. Maybe you can ask her today to come here and join us." Julia said with a twinkle in her eyes. "I don't know about that...maybe?.." my mind is debating whether it's a good idea or not when my thoughts got cut off when I heard Julia cursed.
"Hell no, what is she doing here!" she said, almost spitting her drink. I turned to the direction where she's looking and saw a familiar face walking towards us. It's Amber - my ex-girlfriend.

Julia's POV
I grabbed my purse and Ella's hand to make our way out, I don't want her to spend a minute talking to this b***h. "Leaving already?" I heard a voice behind us. "Yes!" I answered quickly before she can say anything else. "Nice to see you again, Ella" Amber said smiling at my best friend, who's obviously in shock seeing her stupid ex-girlfriend.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, babe." a girl wearing a University jacket and shorts approached us then kissed Amber. What the f**k! I screamed in my head, I looked at Ella and I can't explain the look on her face - anger? sadness? shock? I don't know, I just know I had to get her out of this place. I gripped Ella's hand and pulled it, signalling for us to go. "You know them?" the girl asked Amber. "Yeah, they're my friends." she answered. "Batch mates! I corrected, if you'll excuse us we have other important things to do." I dragged Ella out of the bar and into my car.
"Ella?" I looked at her, still can't figure out what's on her mind. "I'll drive you home" I told her.
