The Bet

-Brant- "Dude, pay up. I won the bet." Emmett says. "Yeah, yeah." Wyatt growls. "Man, why don't you ever participate in any bet?" David asks me while we watch the bickering session between Emmett and Wyatt. "Betting doesn't interest me." I say with a shrug and carry on munching my fries. "Oh yeah?" David asks. "Mhmm." I respond. "Then I think you should bet on something." Wyatt says grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I just said I don't like betting, have you gone deaf or something?" I question him. "Oh come on, dude! It'll be fun!" Wyatt says giving me the puppy dog eyes. "Goddamit man, like the way you behave I seriously doubt if you're actually a girl on the inside." I say with a sigh. "So does that mean that you'll bet on something?" David asks in somewhat excitement. "Yes, I mean, no! Just...no! Why're you so adamant on making me bet anyway?" I ask exasperatedly. "We just want you to get out of your comfort zone! Is that bad?" Wyatt says. I look over at Emmett. "Why aren't you saying anything?" "Because they're right. You're the girliest of us all. Heck, even your name has the word 'bra' in it!" He laughs and so do the rest. I glare at all of them, making them shut up. "Jokes apart, we really think you should do something...badass." David says. "I'm enough badass as it is. I don't want to be more." I respond. "Now you're acting really girly, bud. I suggest you show some manliness before we start calling you by a girl's name." Wyatt grins. "Please Brant! It'd be fun. I swear if you won't have fun you can call off the bet." David pleads. "But what do I get if I win the bet? I don't want money. I have enough of it." I say. "If you win you'd get whatever you want from me and David." Wyatt says. "Whatever?" I smirk. "Whatever." He smirks back. "Fine then. Let's bet. I hope you know that I'm doing this only because you guys have amazing persuasion skills." I sigh. "But you never asked what you'd have to do if you lose." Emmett says. "It doesn't matter." I carelessly respond. "Oh, it does actually. If you lose you'll have to make yet another bet." David smirks. "That's why it doesn't matter. I won't lose. I never lose." I say cockily. "We'll see." Wyatt smiles. I think something is fishy. "What do you want to bet on?" I ask. "We bet you would not be able to stalk a girl for a month." David responds. What the f**k? "What the f**k?" I repeat my thoughts. "That's the plan." David says. "Are you guys out of your mind? You want me to do something illegal." I reply, in a tone that shouts 'WTF'. "When were you scared to do something illegal, Brant?" David smirks. Dammit! He's right. "I'm leaving." I announce and start to leave. "Oh come on! You've got to be kidding me! You just said a few minutes ago that you're ready to bet and now you're backing off? Not cool, man." Wyatt says. "It was all okay until you asked me to stalk a girl. You said it'd be fun but I don't understand how following an innocent girl 24/7 would be fun." I sigh exasperatedly. David sighs, "Perhaps you're right but why not take a chance? Who knows, maybe you'll actually have your firs--" "Look! A good girl! We want you to stalk her!" Wyatt exclaims. I look at him in confusion. "How do you know she's a good girl?" "Even a blind man can see what a big good girl she is. Her body language screams 'good girl'." Wyatt shrugs. I raise my eyebrow in suspicion. "Fine. She's in my Physics class. She is the top student, our physics teacher loves her and etc etc." He responds. "Her name?" I question. "Emerald Fleming." He answers. "Okay." I say nodding my head in understanding. I look at where he was pointing. He was pointing at a petite brunette, with a short height. Must be around 5'2" or 5'3". She's pretty, I have to give her that. But she is not my type. Not that I have a type. "Fine, when do you want me to start?" I ask. "Today." David nods. "Are there any rules?" I ask. David shrugs, "Just give us two-to-three reports a day and she shouldn't come to know about our bet. If she does, you lose. However, if you want to get close to her, you're free to do that." I scoff. "We're serious, here. Who knows, maybe you'll actually fall for her." Wyatt says, wiping an imaginary tear from his right eye. I snort, "This is not some cliché high-schools book where the bad boy falls for the good girl. This is real life." "Don't be so sure of the future, buddy." Emmett says. "I am one hundred percent sure that I won't fall for her." I respond. "We'll see. So the bet is on?" David raises his right hand to seal the 'deal'. "It's on." I shake his hand and look where the girl was. She isn't in the place she was before. I look around and notice that she is walking at a fast pace towards the exit of the cafeteria. Must be in a hurry. Suddenly she stops and turns around to look at me. I catch her eye and smirk in response. Her eyes widen. She turns around immediately and starts walking again. The bet may actually be fun with this girl. -----------------
