The Dream
"Run!!!!! You can't stop!!! We are about to cross the border he will feel us leave the pack lands!" Hestia is screaming at me in my head as I run.
"Please, Hestia, I am exhausted I don't think I can run any longer."
My legs are burning, I can't feel my body from the freezing temperatures outside and my vision is blurring. I don't know how long I've been running but it feels like days. I know I have to keep going if I don't leave now I'll never see my 18th birthday which is just 3 months away.
"Hestia, why can't we shift?! I can't do this!" I plead with my wolf.
"River you shouldn't even have me yet I don't know why the Moon Goddess gave me to you early all I know is we have to run we have to get as far away from this horrific pack as we can"
I push harder, trying my best to run as fast as I can. I know the border between our land and the human world is only about a mile away now, and once I cross it, I'll be declared a rogue, and a bounty will be placed on my head as a traitor.
"We are about to cross the border, I can't save you from the pain you will feel by declaring us rogues but I hope that because you are half human and have never shifted the pain won't be as bad, but River no matter how terrible the pain is you can't stop running!"
I take a deep breath and run like I've never ran before. I knew the instant I hit the border, the pain was like nothing I had ever felt before.
"HESTIA HELP ME"
I scream as I jolt awake, I am in my closet again, wrapped in a ball. I stretch and crawl from my closet.
"It's embarrassing that we spend 600$ more a month just for a closet that you can hide in." Hestia rolls her eye in the back of our mind and huffs at me for waking her up over another one of my "silly" nightmares.
" Well I am so sorry my nightmares interrupted your sleep, I'll try to keep my trauma to a minimum next time" I snap back. I love Hestia but we are total opposites. Sometimes I think the Moon Goddess made a mistake making us as one soul.
"I'd rather it be that dream then the other ones..." my wolf curls back up in the back of our mind and slowly falls back to sleep.
"Yeah, at least it wasn't the other ones" I say to myself I head to the kitchen for some water.
It's been almost 4 years to the day since I finally left my pack and declared myself a rogue. These last 4 years have been anything but happy, but some how, I did find happiness along the way.
I come from the Eclipse Pack, my dad is the Beta of the pack and has been best friends with the Alpha since they were children. Everyone in my pack thinks the Alpha is a perfect man. The scars that cover my body know differently.
I try to shake the thoughts and push the feelings back down. Today is supposed to be a perfect day. Today I graduate college with my 2 majors and I start my internship at my first choice law firm.
When I left my pack I knew I'd need money and a new identity, luckily I had made contacts in the human world who was able to get me the things I needed to start a new life. I got a job as a high end waitress, and put myself through college majoring in law and criminal justice. I would be a district attorney some day and nothing would stop me.
