The Alpha watches me with such intensity. His nostrils flare as he sniffs the air, he reaches his hand out and grabs me by the chin, lifting my head, and forcing me to meet his eyes.

"YOU WILL NEVER BARE YOUR NECK TO ME AGAIN DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?" He states. His voice more closely resembles a demon rather than a man.

"Yes, Alpha Sir, I.. i.. i.. was just showing you my respect." My voice trembles and shakes as I respond to him, trying to move my eyes away from him.

"Who are you? Why are you here, and why do you smell the way you do. You are not my mate, yet I feel the draw to you. TELL ME NOW LITTLE WOLF!" The Alpha growls

"Sir, I've explained, my Name is River Smit...I mean River Lightshade, I am the daughter to the Beta of the Eclipse Pack, I ran away and was declared rogue 4 years ago. I have been hiding in the human town, going to college, and keeping to myself ever since. I want no trouble. I only wish to live as the half human I am. I am not able to shift, and I never have, which maybe that's why I don't smell rogue to you. I do not know, please. I want no trouble just to live a normal human life." I try and get everything out as fast I can, I don't know how long he will give me to speak before he kills me.

As I talk, I see his eyes slowly start to go back to green, his wolf slowly giving him back control.

"I ran because I was afraid you'd kill me the moment you smelled I was a rogue, my plan was to run, throw you off my sent, circle back to my apartment, pack my stuff and get as far away from here as I can before you alerted anyone to my presents."

"So you run straight into my pack lands?" He asks while still staring at me

" I did not realize where I was running, I just ran. My only thought was getting as far away from you as I could... I was only running for a few minutes. There was no way I ran into your pack lands. The nearest pack is 20 miles from town..."

He lifts his eye brow at that, "River, you were running for an hour... and my pack borders are 32 miles from town.."

"WHAT?! THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE! I WAS ONLY RUNNING A FEW MINUTES BEFORE YOU KNOCKED ME ON MY ASS!!"

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone, "River you graduated at around 4:34pm I know because when your name was called I texted my Beta telling him to find out everything he could about a wolf name "River Smith", then you took off, it took another 10 minutes for my name to be called before I could run after you... It's now 5:47 pm... we've been talking for about 10 minutes now... and I think I'd know how far my pack lands are from the human world. "

I look at him dumbfounded, "Hestia, what the hell is going on? Were we really running that fast? I don't understand..."

"River, I am just as confused as you... it felt like a few minutes... maybe a few miles... this isn't possible. "

"EARTH TO RIVER! I am still talking to you, so you really had no idea you were running that fast in human form? Why didn't you shift?"

"No, I had no clue, I even asked my wolf, and she said it felt like a few minutes and a few miles to her as well. It must have been the adrenaline... yeah thats it. I was scared, so my adrenaline kicked in, and I lost track of time!" I felt accomplished for coming up with the reasoning all on my own.

"And why didn't you just shift?"

I roll my eyes at him. " For an Alpha interrogating me, you sure don't listen very well, I...CAN ...NOT ...SHIFT."

The Alpha growls deep and low, releasing his Aura. "DID YOU JUST ROLL YOUR EYES AT AN ALPHA WHILE SPEAKING TO ME LIKE A CHILD?!"

I quickly bow my head and just as I am about to bare my neck I stop myself " I am sorry Alpha I meant no disrespect, it has been a while since I have had to follow pack hierarchy please forgive my miss step."

" I will forgive it this time. You may not be a member of my pack, but you will still show me respect on my lands."

"Yes, Alpha, I understand," I whisper.

"Why did you leave your pack? Why would you allow yourself to be declared rogue with such a high rank in your pack? Why would your Alpha lie about what happened to you? Why can't you shift?" He shots question after question at me.

I hold up my hand to stop him. "Please give me a chance to respond before you ask me more questions. The reasons I left my pack I can't tell anyone. Even if I did, no one would believe me. I don't know why the Alpha would lie, or I guess maybe I do, just in case someone ever found me and believed my story. I don't know why I can't shift, nor does my wolf, we've tried a million times... and it never works. We have a few different ideas... but we don't really know why I can't. Maybe because I am half human?"

The Alpha just looks at me, I can tell he is trying to decide if I am lying or not. "Alpha? Could I maybe ask you a question?"

He laughs. "You sure are a bold wolf, Yes, you may ask me a question."

"What's your name? What pack is this?"

He laughs loud and hard. "You don't know who I am?! I don't know if I should be impressed or appalled, I am Blake White Alpha of the Crystal Lake Pack, Official Guard to the Kings pack." He puffs out his chest as he responds.

I fall backward off the rock I am sitting on, I can't breathe, I can't move... how can this be... next to the Lycan King he is the Alpha of the most powerful pack in North America, how has be spared my life this long, any chance I have of living is gone, he will kill me.
