Temptations

936 Words
Everyone has their own flaws. No one can be good and only do good all their lives, and likewise, no one can be bad and only do bad their whole lives. Diane has a very strong and dynamic work ethic but a very poor character in romantic relationships. She only believes that trust is enough. To trust and be trusted is sufficient in a relationship. But Mark, on the other hand, is getting tired of understanding and forgiving her only. He wishes to receive as much love or more than he gives. They have been together for years now, and she seems to be farther and out of reach for physical affection, even for emotional affection. It makes him think of what sense of a relationship do they have. During their college days, they were both busy in their respective studies that they only have time to have a few hours date once in a while, and he understood then, they never had the chance to spend any sensual activities because Diane was so reserved, which he admired and respected more about her. They were content in hugging while watching movies at home with other friends in the room during winter or camping with their friends during the summer seasons. Mark didn't insist on doing anything beyond what Diane was willing to do or give. Of course, just like other dating couples, they had kissed. Yet when things get heated, Diane was always the first to stop, and Mark would willingly comply. Diane is a child out of wedlock. Her mother got pregnant when she was still a Uni student, which made her quit her studies to avoid more embarrassment. Her father denied responsibilities, so her mother raised her alone with so much difficulty. Diane's grandparents disowned her mother when she got pregnant without a man to take responsibility. They were so disappointed in her mom that she became a disgrace in their family. Her mom had suffered a lot. Good thing Diane's great-grandma helped them. She watched over Diane when she was just a baby so Diane's mother can find any kind of job to sustain their needs. These are the reasons why Diane strongly rejects premarital s*x. She believes that everyone should act responsibly. The pleasure should be enjoyed when you know the consequences and the equal responsibility it brings. But for Mark, he had waited long enough. He wanted to settle down already, yet Diane seems to just be at the beginning of her career. She still wants to learn and have more experience in the field of medicine. So even when Mark had proposed to her last summer, she requested to have the wedding next summer, for the preparations and her post-graduate plans. Although Mark agreed, temptations had been so strong on his side. His company is a Ship Builder, and one of their client's operational manager took a fancy of him. He has a very outstanding work ethic that impressed the clients. He has quite a good physique because he is also a swimmer, a varsity swimmer during their University days, and a part-time swimming instructor for his past time during the weekends.  "Engineer Mark, how about having a lunch with me so we can discuss some of the rising issues?" asks Candy Jefferson with a slight pout. She has been trying to catch Mark's attention aside from business, but the man has been politely rejecting her. The more he seems to be too difficult to win, the more challenged she gets that she is determined to hook him in her fishing rod. Candy believes that whatever you get in a hard way is more satisfying, and the victory after several tryouts and won them is very much celebratory.  And Mark felt tired of rejecting her that he thought maybe if he gave her this one time, she would stop and leave him in peace. "I have a busy schedule today that having a meeting at lunch would be tough to fit with my timetable, so how about a dinner instead?" Mark suggested. "Whenever you're available, I will vacate my time for you," Candy demurely answered. Deep inside her mind, she is rejoicing. He just doesn't know what crazy ideas are already playing in her mind now that he agreed to have dinner with her. It is much better for her plans to be executed then than during the very limited lunchtime. "Hah! Just you wait and see, Engineer Mark!" she thought. "I'll send you the details of our dinner later," Candy said in her professional tone. Suppressing the excitement in her voice. "Yeah, I have to go now. Got to finish all my tasks to make it for dinner", replied Mark casually. Oblivious of Candy's true motives. And since she is a client, he can only interact with her respectfully and professionally. "See ya later, then," bid Mark goodbye.  Mark is very serious when it comes to his job. His principle is pure and simple. You should learn to value the things that provide the needs of your life's necessity. You have to love your work because honesty brings peace to you and your family. His parents had taught him and his siblings the good manner of honesty and hard work. His family has a small business that employs twenty of their relatives. They are reminded every day of the importance of dedication to their respective tasks. If one fails, everyone will be affected, and the whole business will suffer so as the everyone working there. Never did he thought a simple business dinner meeting would turn his world around.
