Chapter 1 POV: Aiden “Is this how my life is going to end? I hate being unaccompanied. I have no friends. "My classmates always make fun of me and now you dad…” I sobbed. “You’re always on your system working can’t you make time for me is that too much to ask dad” he kept silent as I stared at him shaking uncomfortably “I thought as much, I wish my mum was here she would have held me around her arm and let me feel the warmth of her body” I talked, my voice full of frustration and anger. I turned and left to my room as I fell on my bed and searched for my phone and my headphone, eyes closed. I played sad songs cooled tears running down my cheeks. I heard my maid calling out my name and knocking on the door. I answered “yes” as I cleared my eyes and finally realized it was morning. I had no idea when I slept. She walked into my room and said “Good morning Sir Aiden”. “Morning” I answered, stretching my body. She said, “Sir Aiden, you will be late for school”. I glanced at my table alarm and realized I forgot to set it. “I am running late”, I said, rushing into the toilet. “Should I add more?” Chef Adam asked. “No, it’s okay”, I said, shaking my head in disapproval as I glanced at Elli, my elderly maid cleaning the sitting room. “Aunty where is dad” I asked as she turned and said “he left early to work” “has he eaten” I asked again “no he left, hastily answering a call” oh what was I thinking because of what happen yesterday will make him change “huhh” I gasped as I lowered my head digging in my plate. I went to school quite late. I walked into the class. I found no teacher. I thought he would not become, I sat on my chair. I tried to say hello to my classmate on my left. He turned as our eyes met the bully at the last seat standing at his desk, mocking me “our always withdrawn scholarship poor AS student had arrived to school late”. I gasped and wore my headphones. That’s all dad’s fault. He always removes me from school, even the country, even if I am starting to make new friends all in the name of work huh though he promised this will be the last. A girl from behind walk up to me and said “hi” I replied “h…h… hi” my words stumbling it’s been 3 weeks I resume to this school no one ever said hi to me because the bully instructed them not to I heard a rumor that his father is richer that anyone else father in this school he abhors me because I beat him in a basket ball game in play center before I got admitted to this school so he had been jealous of me, all I want was to make friends that’s what took me there “don’t mind Bruce lean he’s a nuisance” I smirk “I agree besides he has done this to me couple of times, so I don’t mind” “oh” she said smiling she added “am Kate Williams” “and am” “Aiden Ethan” she cut in “I know you have introduced your name in front of everyone when you got here” I was puzzled, so she noticed me “oh I remember doing that, actually I was forced to” we both chortle all attention was on us Bruce walked to us clapping less loud “good Kate, good great job, had I not asked you not to talk to him” Kate turn to him “so when did you start choosing who I should talk to, and I shouldn’t” she turned to me, I was sited saying nothing and there were both standing on me and all class attention was on us “wow Kate where did you get that guts from” “ugh” she said loudly he smirks and said “you know I can make your life miserable in this school” she turned to him “you wouldn’t dare my father is also influential in case you forgot” Bruce gaze at me and said “you little AS watch your back” and he returned to his sit Kate turn to me and said “hey you need to stand up for yourself” I nodded my head, and she returned to her sit as our substitution teacher walked in. After all the exhausting time in class, finally it's lunchtime. I grabbed a plate and poured whatever I wanted. The school is meant for wealthy kids, so it serve yourself. I sat on an empty seat as usual. I knew no one would let me sit with him. I had someone standing on my head. I looked up, and it was Bruce Lane, Brock Harlan and Zane Madison, the bullies of the school and the most spoiled brat and children from an affluent home there are known for their wealth, and you can even read about them on every website. “Would you like us to join you”. Zane asked. I was quiet for a little, thoughts scampering on my mind. “Will you like us to sit with you” he repeated himself this time loudly every attention turned to us. “Ye…ye…yes” I said my words stumbling there all sat down with their plates and juices “will you like some orange juice in your steak meat and white rice” Brock asked “huh” I gasped “we will take this gasp, as yes carry on” Bruce said looking at Brock “n...n...n…no please” I said my words stumbling “to late” broke said purring the juice to my plate the hall erupted with gasped laughing “oooh” every one saying they stood up and left, Kate walked to me carrying her plate “am sorry for what happened can I sit” I stare at her “if you don’t mind” I made a surprising face eyes widen mouth a little open “huh” I said under my breath she said “hello” she waved her hand on my face I quickly said “ye… yes sit” my world stumbling, she sat “why does your words always stumbles” she asked I looked at her and said “well when am shocked” “so you were shocked seeing me” “yes no one had ever sat with me” she chuckled and said “fair enough so don’t get shocked anymore by seeing me because you will always see me, am sorry for what happen please don’t take it to hearth” “this is not the first time” I said avoiding her gaze she pushed her plate towards me “we can share mine” she said taking my spoon from the wet food, giving me “no please eat your food I will eat when I get home” I said avoiding her gaze “you will eat when you get home…” she repeats “it's like a deadly more hours before the school close for the day” I stayed silent “please” she said giving me the spoon I collected we both start eating “so how old are you” she asked I raise my head and look at her then said “17 and you” she said “16” I smiled and said “great am older that you well if not because of my father always withdrawing me from school I would have graduated from high school last year” she paused then said “oh but will be graduating in this year so don’t worry, but why does he keep always changing you school” she asked curiously I said “all in the name of work” then gasped she said “oh” I smirk and said “finally someone is talking to me did you know how lonely I always have been” she smirks and said “I know that’s why am I keeping you accompany you have to thank me” we chuckled, and I said “thank you” she said “I got you”. After some exhausting time, school has finally closed for the day. I went home. I sat for my dinner. I knew my dad wouldn’t be joining me. He always eats out and comes home late while I am far asleep. Who cares. I ate and walked to my room and collapsed on my bed. “Huhh first time at King’s College Bahamas, my day was lit.” As I closed my eyes, a flashback of the reason for my smile today started running into my mind. Her brown widened sexy eyes staring at mine, her black neat straight hair brushing my shoulder as we talked. “God damn, she is so beautiful. "I would like to be her friend so that I can be around her,” I said to myself. Suddenly, I realized I had been blushing. “What’s happening to me?” I sat up. “I guess its growth”. Chater 2 Pov: Aiden I decided to visit my driver’s house, Uncle Jay, because today is Saturday, I have no school and am bored staying at home. i ducked into Uncle Jay’s small but warm home, his usual refuge from the coldness of his own mansion. Ariana, the little one, ran up immediately, tugging his sleeve. “Adien! Play blocks with me!” i smiled, kneeling down to her level. “Alright, but only if I get the blue ones.” As I stacked wooden towers with Ariana, he noticed Adriana sitting quietly by the window, books open in front of her but eyes miles away. Her pencil tapped against the page without writing a word. “Adriana?” I called softly. You’ve been frowning at that same page for ten minutes. What’s up?” She shifted uncomfortably. “It’s… nothing.” I raised an eyebrow, calm but steady. “You know, I don’t buy that. Tell me.” Her cheeks flushed. She glanced at Ariana, who was too busy with her tower to listen. Then she lowered her voice. “It’s just… this boy at school. He said he likes me. Like… likes me.” I leaned back slightly, processing, then gave a faint chuckle. “Ah. So that’s what’s been stumbling you.” Her eyes widened. “I… I don’t know what to do. Should I… like him back?” My expression softened, but my voice carried a quiet authority. “Adriana, listen. You’re smart. You’ve got a future most kids would fight for. And I’ll tell you something nobody else probably will—love, especially at this age. It feels exciting, but it’s not the right time. It can distract you and knock you off balance. And if you lose focus now… you risk everything you’ve worked for. Your grades, your scholarship, your chance to be more than this place.” She bit her lip, frowning. “But… he’s nice.” I gave a small, knowing smile. “Nice doesn’t mean right. If he really cares about you, he’ll respect your dreams and wait. If he can’t do that, then he’s not worth the trouble.” Adriana stared at me, surprised by my calm, steady words. Ariana, oblivious to the seriousness, cheered suddenly as her block tower toppled. “Adien! It fell!” I chuckled, patting her head. “See? That’s what love at your age is like. Fun, but fragile. One wrong move and it all crashes down. Better to wait until you’ve built something strong first.” Adriana’s frown eased into a small smile. “You always know what to say.” I shrugged, cool and collected, turning back to help Ariana rebuild her tower. “That’s because I’ve already seen how easy it is to lose things. I won’t let you make the same mistake. The class was already deep in the morning lesson when I opened the door. I slipped inside, bag slung over one shoulder, hair slightly disheveled from rushing. I muttered, “Sorry, ma’am,” and headed toward my seat. The teacher narrowed her eyes. “Aiden, you’re late. Care to explain why?” Before I could answer, Bruce leaned back in his chair, smirking. “Maybe he had to help his parents scrape rent money together.” Laughter rippled through the room. My throat tightened. Of course. One mistake, and they pounce. Like wolves smelling blood. Zane, with his fake voice of sympathy, added, “Come on, don’t be harsh. Some people actually have to walk all the way to school, you know. Not everyone has a driver.” The teacher pressed her lips together, caught off guard. I forced my steps to remain steady. Ignore it. Just get to your seat. Don’t give them the satisfaction. Then Brock chimed in, his voice dripping with cruelty. “Or maybe he was arguing with his brother over who gets to brush their teeth first… with the same toothbrush.” The class roared. My jaw locked so hard it hurt. Breathe. If you snap, they win. Just breathe. Zane gave a mocking sigh, pretending to be merciful. “Guys, let him be. Being underprivileged isn’t easy.” The laughter grew louder, echoing off the classroom walls. . Something less. Suddenly, a chair scraped against the floor. Kate stood, arms crossed, eyes blazing. “You don’t owe anyone an explanation,” she snapped, her glare slicing through Bruce, Brock, and Zane one by one. “Especially not him.” The room quieted just a little as she added sharply, “Funny how the loudest ones are always the emptiest.” I blinked, stunned. Kate? A small warmth spread in my chest, cutting through the humiliation. She… stood up for me? In front of everyone? The teacher straightened quickly, voice tight. “Kate, sit down.” Reluctantly, she sank back into her seat, still shooting daggers at the boys. I finally made it to my desk. I lowered myself into the chair, shoulders heavy from the mockery. Still… he couldn’t help glancing sideways at Kate. Just for a moment, he let a small smile flicker across his face in silence, thanks. Maybe not everyone here is against me. But my brief relief shattered as a paper ball smacked against my cheek. “Concentrate, poor boy,” Brock sneered from across the room, grinning as laughter erupted again. My hand tightened around the crumpled paper. My knuckles whitened. One day… they’ll see. One day, the joke will be on them. When he turned, Kate was already glaring across the aisle — as if her anger burned even hotter than mine. This makes my pain and pride clearer. I am swallowing my anger, but Kate’s defense gives me a flicker of strength. Top of Form
