She nodded, then moved past him to stand by the window. The glass and steel towers of downtown L.A. were warmed by the light of the setting sun, gleaming like golden spires. The warm light caught in Bailey’s fair hair, turning it nearly gold as well. Without looking at him, she said, “I’m sorry about before.” “‘Sorry’?” he echoed, not sure what she meant. “My little nervous breakdown at lunch.” “Ah.” Nasim came closer but made sure not to get too close.
