Anna rang the door chime, but no one answered. That didn’t bode well for the plan. She had spoken to Desa before turning in last night, and they both agreed that the only way to get help for her world was to show the Council just how dangerous Field Binding really was. It was mid-morning now, and Desa should have joined her in the mess hall over an hour ago. She tried the chime again and received only silence for her trouble.
Bracing one hand against the wall, Anna leaned forward to speak into the intercom. “Desa?” she prodded. “Are you in there?”
No answer.
“I’m sorry to bother you, but we’ll be arriving at Leyria within the hour, and we really should get you prepared.”
