Chapter Twenty Five - Wolf Test Stage One

2016 Words
❤Colin “Wake up wolves!” the annoying voice screamed, and I rolled onto my back and sighed. What now? “I said, wake up wolves!” the voice screamed out once again and I sat up. Looking around the cell, it was clear that everyone was just as disorientated as I was. However, it was early. I guessed it to be around six am. As I looked over, I could see Keanu standing on the other side of the bars with Tina. It was good to see her again and I quickly jumped down from the top bunker. She smiled at me and I took a quick look at her. She looked healthy, happy even and I returned her smile with one of my own. I couldn’t believe that the time had flown by so fast, but I was happy she was back. “Hurry up and get dressed,” Keanu ordered, and I frowned. Why did we have to get dressed? I wasn’t sure but I hurried into the bathroom with the others to get finished. It didn’t take us long, especially with Keanu constantly telling us to hurry up. The second he opened the cell; I rushed over to Tina and hugged my sister. “Are you ok?” I asked her with concern.  “Yes,” she whispered and I could hear she was telling me the truth in her voice. I nodded as I squeezed her shoulder affectionately.  “Ok, that’s enough, let’s go,” Keanu said as he unlocked and opened the door. I wanted to question him but at this point, I knew not too. Keanu wasn’t very friendly, not even on a good day. We followed him past the dining hall to another big building. Upon entering, I immediately knew what was going to happen. I could see the two evil ones standing on the other side of the exceptionally large cage. “Welcome!” Aria said loudly as we filed next to each other in front of her. “Now, before you get the wrong idea, let me explain. We want to see just how wolves shift, what their strengths are, and just how weak they can be. Once you in the cage, you will shift, and we will run a serious of tests. You will shift back into human form before the cage opens again. Do you all understand?” I nodded slowly. I was surprised, I thought we would be fighting each other. However, I was wrong, and I was relieved. “Alright, let’s begin with…” she looked down at the clipboard she held in her hand. “Colin Kahn,” she looked up and straight at me and I shivered. She knew too much. Keanu nodded towards the cage and as much as I didn’t want to do this, I knew I had no choice. I stepped inside and almost immediately; Keanu locked it behind me. I took off my shirt and shorts and took a deep breath. Shifting was so natural to me and by now I felt no pain. It took seconds for me to completely shift and I welcomed the feeling as my wolf took over. I could feel his anger but we were caged. He knew that as well as me. “Magnificent,” I heard Killian say and I could feel that rage building up. Did they know this was a bad idea? “Can you run around in circles? We would love to see your speed,” it was then that I noticed all the equipment set up around the cage. Cameras and who knows what else. I had no idea what all this fancy technology was, but I knew it would record everything. I started to run. The space wasn’t small, but it wasn’t like being outside in the forest. It wasn’t the same. Yet the competitive side of me wanted to be the best and so I pushed myself. My wolf pushed even harder. “Enough!” Aria yelled out and I slowed. I was panting heavily. I was also very curious to know just how fast I had been going. I watched as she noted something down. “Alright, let us see how strong your bite is,” she said as she pointed towards another device. I slowly made my way over to it. Again, the technology was lost to me, but I knew one thing. I opened my mouth and bit down on the thick wooden plank as hard as I could. The counter was faced towards them and I saw Killian nod. I had no idea what that meant as Aria noted it down. Once again, I was curious. “Thank you, Colin, now, how is your fighting skill?” she asked, and this shocked me. My original thought had been right, and I started to panic. Was she going to make me fight against one of my cellmates or one of the other species? I saw a tall male walk into the room and I immediately knew he was a wolf. I had questions but there was no time as Keanu opened the gate just long enough for the male to enter. “My name is Adrian and I will be your opponent,” the male announced, and I felt the competitive edge kick in once again. Adrian shifted into a glorious dark brown wolf and I sighed. I hope he didn’t kill me. “Fight!” Killian shouted out and I took my stand as I faced Adrian. I was scared but I let my wolf take over completely. Adrian was sizing me up, I could tell but I was doing the same thing. He was much larger than I, stronger too but he was older and that made him weaker in some ways. His steps were slow and calculated. He made the first move and that was his biggest mistake. As he charged towards me, I kept still, waiting. When he was just about to attack and strike me with his large paw, I dodged him and turned back around so fast and used my head to knock him off balance. He fell against the cold concert and I pounced. Using my weight to my advantage, I pinned him down and growled loudly. Adrian wasn’t about to give up, I could feel him struggling. Admittedly I was tired from the run around the cage, but my young age helped. Soon, he gave up the struggle and started to whimper. “Enough!” Aria called out and I stepped away from Adrian. I didn’t take my eyes off him as he moved towards the gate of the cage. Keanu let him out and then relocked the gate. “Well done, Colin, you may shift back,” she said, and I glanced back at my clothing in the middle of the cage. I didn’t want my sister to see me, but I didn’t have to worry about it as Keanu ordered everyone to look away. I shifted back into my human form and got dressed. Keanu let me out and I went back to the others. “Next up, Warrity Ryker,” Killian called out. I watched as War went into the cage and how he shifted. Aria ordered him to run, much the same as I had, and I couldn’t help but admire the speed as to which he moved. He too had to bite down on the wooden plank and then I wondered who he would fight? Surely, they wouldn’t let Adrian fight again. I wasn’t surprised to see a new male come in when it was time for War to fight. This male was slightly younger than Adrian but much older than Warrity. They moved around in circles and Warrity attacked first. The male used this to his advantage but the same way I had, but War had anticipated it and moved just at quickly. The fight was quick, and I was proud that War was victorious. The male left and Keanu instructed everyone to look away as Warrity shifted. Next up was Daniel. I was worried about him, but he proved to be just as victorious. Liam, however, was different. He was young and that made me worry about Bonnie. I watched as Liam ran around the cage. He looked awkward and uncomfortable. He bit down on the plank and then another male came in. he lost the fight, but I hadn’t expected him to win. He was still young and hadn’t gone through much training yet. Kodan was victorious and so was Chandler. Riddick was cocky and failed miserably during his fight. All the males had been tested and I silently prayed that the females would be excused. “Christina Kahn, you are up next,” Aria yelled out and I flinched. So much for wishful thinking. Tina didn’t disappoint despite her lack of acceptance of being a wolf. She ran hard and fast, she bit the plank and when a female joined her in the cage, she held her own. She failed but she did well. Terri was up next, and she did the same as Tina. Bonnie was the last and I wasn’t even sure if she could shift yet. I held my breath as I waited for her to be called up next. “That’s it for today, thank you for your cooperation. Keanu will take you to the dining hall so that you can eat,” Killian said before he left with Aria. We all followed Keanu to the dining hall, and it was clear that we had missed having breakfast with the others. We sat around the table, eating in silence when suddenly Bonnie burst into tears. I glanced over at her as Terri hurried to comfort the young female. She looked pale, terrified and I couldn’t blame her. She had to watch nine of us, shift, run around, and fight. She must have been waiting for her turn and I couldn’t even begin to imagine what she must be feeling. I finished off my bacon and eggs and stood up. This whole thing had left a bitter taste in my mouth and it had nothing to do with the breakfast. How cruel were these people? They made a young child watch violence. Anger coursed through my veins as I rushed outside. I needed the fresh air. “Hey!” I heard Tina call out and I stopped. “Are you ok?” she asked. “No, how could they do that to her?” I screamed out. I spotted Keanu watching us and I stormed towards him. He held out his cattle rod, but I wasn’t scared. “How could they do that to her?” I questioned him. Keanu dropped the rod to his side and shook his head sadly. “I don’t know,” he whispered. “But it was wrong,” “Do you think so?” I asked sarcastically. “I thought they were going to test her too if I had known…” his voice trailed off and I stared at the man in front of me. If he had known, he would have done what? “You are just a guard here, what could you have done?” I hissed out. “I could’ve left her in the cell,” he said softly. He was right. He could’ve. “Will they do that to us again?” I asked curiously. “No, they won’t. Aria and Killian have all the information they need,” he explained. I nodded as I thought about the situation. “What’s next?” I asked. “They will call you in for questioning, to find out more about how you think and so on,” he admitted, and I was grateful for his honesty. “Right, well, make sure they actually talk to Bonnie, that child doesn’t deserve any of this,” I said before I turned away and headed to the building block of our cell. I leaned against the wall as I waited for the others. What a morning! It suddenly dawned on me that Grecia would be going through the same thing. I could only hope that I got to see her before that. I needed to give her the heads up on what Aria and Killian had planned. It disgusted me and I wanted nothing more to do with it. However, I knew I didn’t have a choice. They planned on questioning me, well, I would make sure I was ready. I had some questions of my own and I would get some answers. Even if it kills me.
