Chapter Twenty Six - Confronting The Council

1993 Words
❤Felicity Felicity wasn’t going to wait around for her siblings and after the conversation she had with Cassandra, she felt more determined to do something. Felicity headed straight for their vehicle and only stopped when she stood by the driver’s side. “Felicity, what are you doing?” Warren asked her as he joined her. “I am going to the council, are you coming with me?” she asked him angrily. It wasn’t that she was angry at him, it was the whole situation that had her upset. Her child was missing, her nephews and niece were missing, and the council had failed to uphold their end by not warning any of them about the shifter children that had started going missing. It made her feel powerless and she hated that. “Of course,” Warren responded. “Let me just make arrangements,” he added before rushing off towards the house. Felicity sighed as she went around to the passenger side and climbed in. It wouldn’t do her any good to make any kind of arrangements with her siblings. They would try to stop her or something and she didn’t want that. After so many years of being apart, Felicity realized that she barely knew her family anymore. Her sisters, Emily and Sasha looked like strangers and Stephan looked too much like her father. It pained her to look at him and be reminded of the father she lost many years ago. She shook her head to clear her thoughts as she watched Warren return with Stephan and Ayden. She didn’t even want to know what they had to say, but she found herself listening in on their conversation as they made their way to the truck. “No, of course, we all understand,” Ayden was saying. “We will do what we can from here, but please, just keep us informed,” Stephan added. “We will,” Warren said as he stopped by the truck. Felicity hung her head and pretended not to be listening. “Take care and have a safe journey,” Stephan said. “Don’t let her get too upset,” Felicity heard Ayden whisper with a small chuckle. She rolled her eyes but sighed. This was her family and regardless of the lost time, she still loved them. Felicity vowed that when this was all over and everyone had their children back, that she would make more time for them. She heard them say goodbye and then Warren got into the driver’s seat. “I know you can hear me,” Felicity heard Stephan say and she looked up to see him looking directly at her through the front window. “Please take care and do what you need to do in order to restore our families,” “I promise,” Felicity said. “I love you, sis,” Stephan before Warren started the truck. “I love you too, Stephan,” they waved at each other, and then Warren pulled out of the driveway and headed towards the main road. The council wasn’t too far away but Felicity couldn’t shake the anxiousness she was feeling. How dare the council keep this from her? How dare Cassandra not give her the heads up! “Calm down, you can rant and rave face to face with them all,” Warren commented, and Felicity sighed yet again. He was right. It wouldn’t help for her to be upset throughout their trip. She relaxed in her seat and rested her head back against the headrest. She closed her eyes and thought about Warrity. Her son. Her firstborn. ❤Warren He glanced over at his sleeping mate and smiled. She looked calm and peaceful. However, his smile quickly faded as he thought about the fact that their son was missing. He blamed himself for not being a better father. He had continued to push Warrity into becoming the next Alpha, instead of supporting his dreams. If he had just been supportive, then Warrity wouldn’t have felt it was necessary to run away from home. They could’ve been there with him, traveled with him, but they hadn’t. he hadn’t. he had pushed and had ended up pushing his son away. It would have been one thing to learn that his son was out there, living his life and pursuing his dreams but instead, they knew that their son had been kidnapped. Who was behind it? Warren didn’t even want to think about the fact that others had been taken. How many in total and for what reason? Who would do such a cruel thing? Warren shook his head as he saw the large Victorian house come into view. They had arrived and although he hated to wake up his sleeping wife, he knew she would be angry if he didn’t. “Felicity, we are here,” he said softly as he parked the truck in the parking lot in front of the large council. “We are?” Felicity asked as she stretched out her legs and yawned loudly. “That was fast,” she added, and he chuckled as he unbuckled his seatbelt. “Everything happens fast while you are sleeping,” he joked, and she smiled as she pushed open the door and hopped out. Warren followed and soon the two of them stood in the reception area of the council. The receptionist that sat behind her desk quickly stood up to greet them. “Good afternoon,” she said with a small smile and Warren took a step forward before Felicity could say anything. “We don’t have an appointment with the council, but we need to talk to them urgently,” Warren hurried to explain. The female nodded and then turned away. “You can tell them that Felicity Ryker is here to see them,” Felicity informed her, and the female smiled at her before hurrying to her desk. They both watched as she called Dimitry. Warren turned away, giving her privacy, and faced his wife. “Relax babe,” he whispered. “I am relaxed,” she argued, and he couldn’t help but just smile at her. After being married to her for eighteen years, he knew better than that. Felicity glanced up at her husband and he smiled warmly at her. “Relax babe,” he repeated, and he watched as Felicity visibly relaxed. He nodded before turning his attention back to the receptionist. “And?” Felicity pushed and he sighed. So much for her being relaxed. He could hear the attitude in that single word. “And the council will gather to see you in just a few minutes, please take a seat while they get ready,” she said politely, and Warren heard the loud sigh come from Felicity. “Come on, let’s go outside for some fresh air,” he said as he led her outside. “I am not a child!” she pointed out, but Warren laughed as he forced her to walk along the path in the front garden. “I never said you were,” “Then stop treating me like one!” she continued to argue but he could feel her tense body relax and he wondered how she managed not to suffer from cramps of any sort. He thought back to the week before when he had been at the gym with Axel and how tense he had been. He had suffered for days with cramps, aches, and pains. “Relax babe,” Warren said as they started making their way back to the entrance. He held onto her hand as they walked, and he knew that the only way to calm her down was to let her unleash her anger. Warren wasn’t a fool. He knew that Cassandra was the object of Felicity’s anger. “Welcome,” he looked up to see Dimitry standing by the double doors. “Sorry to have kept you waiting, we are ready to see you,” he said before turning away and heading inside. Felicity grumbled out something Warren didn’t catch as they hurried after Dimitry. ❤Felicity Being back in the council chamber felt odd and familiar. Felicity looked at the council members and found herself smiling. It had been too long since she had last seen them. They smiled back at her warmly and she followed behind Warren until they stood before them all. “Did you have a safe trip?” June asked. “Yes, we did, thank you,” Felicity responded. “We are assuming that you are both here because of the conversation you had with Cass?” Dimitry asked. The anger that had been slowly subsiding came back in full force. “Conversation? That’s just the half of it! My firstborn is missing!” she yelled out. “Why didn’t you let your kind know those shifter children where being kidnapped?” she demanded. “At that point, we hadn’t been made aware that any wolf shifters had been taken. You where the first to inform us,” Cass explained. “So? A simple warning goes a long way!” Felicity argued. Silence filled the room, but she wasn’t having any of that. She took a step forward and pointed her finger in their general direction. “This could have been avoided. My son, my nephews, and my niece are missing! What are you planning on doing about it?” she demanded to know. “We’ve been in touch with the other higher members,” Dimitry started. “The dragon factions are just as upset as we are. The lions, panthers, and jungle cats are determined to find their own. They aren’t responding to any of our calls and each has sent back our warriors,” “That doesn’t sound like a plan to get my boy back!” Felicity screamed out. The desperation at the situation was getting out of hand. “You old farts are doing nothing constructive! Find my boy!” “Felicity!” Dimitry yelled out, using his ultimate supreme Alpha voice but it fell on deaf ears as Felicity took another threatening step forward. “Prove to your own kind that you are worthy to be called council members! Find our stolen children and do it fast!” Felicity spun around on her heels and stormed out of the council chamber. She was furious. They had done nothing but contact the other shifter groups. How pathetic. They should be tracking down leads and getting their teams together to find their children but instead, they sat upon their throne, doing absolutely nothing. ❤Warren He stared after her and then sighed as she banged the door. “I’m sorry about that,” Warren said as he faced the council members. “She is quite upset about Warrity being taken,” he added. “We do understand, Warren, however, at this stage there isn’t much we can do,” Dimitry said softly. Warren frowned as he looked up at the male he had always respected. “There isn’t much you can do?” he repeated. “Yes, we are waiting for the others to give us feedback, we are doing the best we can do. It may not sound like much but for now, it is all we can do,” Theodore stepped in and spoke up. Warren turned to him and growled. “You want me to accept that?” he hissed out. “For now, yes,” Cass said softly. “Felicity is right! You old farts are doing nothing constructive and you don’t deserve to be sitting up there. Yet, I know if it was your children, the situation would be quite different!” he turned around, ready to leave but decided to take it one step further. “Today you fail. Everything you’ve worked for is pointless because today you fail. The council stands for nothing when the members do nothing. Waiting around for information while our children are out there. They could be in grave danger, but you are waiting for information. Pathetic. You should all retire and let someone else run the show. Maybe our children wouldn’t have been taken in the first place!” when Warren was done, he stormed out just as Felicity had. He found her sitting in the truck crying. When she spotted him, she reached out for him, showing him, she needed comfort. Warren hurried to her of the truck and pulled open the door. She leaped into his arms and he held his mate close to him. “They won’t help us,” she whispered between sobs. “You are right, they won’t, so it is up to us,” he said as he kissed her forehead. They would head back to Ayden’s pack and they would have to regroup and come up with a viable plan to save their children. The days of relying on the council are over.
