A reach for the stars

 It was a blissful morning in the central of commerce, the northern part of Nigeria.     In a corridor of a spotless Wight painted house, in front of a brown wooden door, Alina, a beautiful teenage girl with a beautiful face, bright eyes, red lips, and jade-like skin who wore a red dress filled with flower patterns was already set for her trip to Abuja the nation's capital. She was only waiting for her parents to come out of their room.     Not quite long, the door to her parent's room which she has been steering at was now widened, Mrs khan, a beautiful woman in her late twenties wearing traditional clothing who appeared like the older version of Alina suddenly came out of the room...    Alina knelt on both her knees to greet her mum. "good morning ma."   "morning my darling."   "how's your night Alina,"     Mrs khan replied to her daughter’s greeting with a wide smile on her face then she proceeded to ask about Alina's night.      " it was fine ma, thanks be to the almighty".  Alina answered respectfully   "That sounds great",     Mrs khan asserted as they both giggled.      “By the way mum, where's dad?”       “hope he didn't forget that am traveling for the scholarship exams today and it will take about five days for me to finish the exams and return..."    Alina said hurriedly and excitedly, the thought of writing the scholarship exams made all her blood boil.   "Ohh yeah, my dear, your father didn't forget any of this ....."     "He has even offered to take you to the train station himself. ...”    “Just be patient, he will soon be back. he went to check on the grains he left at the farm last night".   Mrs khan smilingly assured Alina.     "Ma, you shouldn't have allowed him to stress himself, I can manage on my own.”    “Dad has been going through a lot lately just to make sure we don't lack anything".    Alina stated in deep concern for her dad  "besides mum, am even going with Leo so there's nothing for you to worry about."  Alina further emphasized.  “wait a sec, is Leo also going for the exams?.”   Mrs khan asked surprisingly.   “of course mum, OMG!, nowadays you and dad tend to forget things easily”.   "Don't blame us, it's old age. once u start having your own family, you will realize that it's not easy to raise one or two kids...”    “By the way little madam, what's the meaning of that OMG! word that you and your siblings are using to sing.”   Mrs khan asked curiously “Hahaha”.      Alina burst into laughter.    “ mum, you mean you don't know the meaning of OMG after all these years of teaching?”.  Alina was still in laughter     " c'mon, will you stop laughing like a jackal and tell me what it means.”    Mrs khan got annoyed.  “Ma, it means oh my God...”    Mrs. Khan was amazed.   “oh, children of the century will not kill me with meaningless abbreviations.”    She said in lamentation.   Alina burst into laughter once again upon seeing her action and blurted with reasoning.   “It was your curiosity that pushed you to ask me the question …”   "Remember, it's said, "he who asks, never lose”.   “exactly, you are absolutely right my little lady.”   Mrs khan agreed then Alina winked at Mrs khan.  Shortly, they both burst into laughter...   In the happy moment, Mrs khan gave Alina a warm hug which soothed her feelings.    Alina was about to say something, but Mrs khan shut her up...   "Shhh, I hear some footsteps, I guess that must be your father...   Alina peeped through the window to see who it was, after hearing her mother's statement...  she jumped up out of excitement shortly after, when she saw who it was.  “yea mum it's dad... The long wait has finally come to an end, my boss is back” said Alina in a mischievous way.   Mrs khan looked at and her laugh silently.    “naughty girl, you will never change ...”  At this time, Alina raised her shoulders and makes some dance steps out of joy.   “Finally, here comes your dad”.  Mrs khan said as she welcomed her husband home, with a warm smile when he opened the door and entered.       Mir khan, a man in his early thirties in the prime of his life, who had a gentle nature was wearing native attire and a round farm hat as he walks into the house while smiling at Mrs khan.
