Chapter 9: The 57th Expedition Beyond The Walls

The day of the expedition had arrived. After the news about Marco's death, all of you had decided to move forward and live on for his sake. Marco was an admirable friend that didn't deserve to meet his end. Everyone knew he had a bright future ahead but sadly, his play had finished too soon. After Eren finally met with the others, the journey to the forest of giant trees began.

**(Y/N) POV**

A green flare fired into the azure sky. Upon getting the signal, you and the others headed east, where the towering trees engulfed you as you went deeper.

"Captain... Levi! CAPTAIN " Eren called out for Levi.

"What is it?" He answered in an annoyed tone.

"Well, we're in the middle of the forest...we don't even know when a titan will appear. And it will be hard for us to attack it."Eren gulped.

"Tch. Look around, Eren. All these big-ass trees. Its the perfect environment for using the 3D maneuver gear."

"A black smoke!" Eld looked behind him.

"It's directly behind us!" Gunther shouted.

"Its whatever was coming towards us on the right."

"Draw your blades." Levi instructed not making any facial expression.

"If we see it, it'll only be for a second." Levi drew out his blades.

Time went still as the thumping of a footstep drew closer and closer.

Eren was perspiring profusely and your heart was beating rapidly. As the footstep drew closer, we caught a glimpse of a huge titan, on the right.

"GO!" Levi ordered.

The titan then jumped towards Eren but with the help of the horse, he managed to dodge it quickly. The titan was now behind him.

'What..is that? A female titan?' You thought as you squint your eyes staring at it.

The female titan sprint towards you and the others. But strangely, it wasn't looking at you or the rest. It was looking at.....Eren. You frowned still staring at the titan.

'Could it be?...By any chance, is it,, coming after Eren?'

"Heicho! Let's switch to Maneuver Gear!" Petra panicked but Levi ignored her.

Your eyes widen as you saw the soldier that was in charge of the rear, charging towards the Female Titan recklessly. The female titan grabbed the wire of the Maneuver gear and squashed him. His blood burst out and his body was destroyed. The bones were shattered into pieces.

"She's intelligent. Hm, so she's like me and Eren huh? A human with the ability to transform into a titan."

"CAPTAIN! YOUR ORDERS!!!!"Petra cried.

"LETS GO FOR IT! Its dangerous! WE SHOULD KILL IT!"Oluo shouted.

"I'll rip you apart!" Eld drew out his blades.

"CAPTAIN PLEASE!" Petra shouted so loudly that her voice cracked a little.

"Give us your orders! At this rate, It'll capture us!" Gunther hollered.

"HEICHOU! ANSWER US! LEVI HEICHOU!" Eren yelled.

You didn't say anything at all because you trust Levi. You put in so much faith in him.

"ALESSA! WHY AREN'T YOU SAYING ANYTHING?! DO YOU WANT US TO GET KILLED?!? CONVINCE HEICHO TO CHANGE TO MANEUVER GEAR." Oluo yelled at you. The situation was so chaotic that it began to annoy you. The screaming and shouting....argh!

"SHUT THE f**k UP!!"You raged.

"CAN'T YOU GUYS JUST TRUST LEVI HEICHO INSTEAD OF YELLING ALL ABOUT?!?" Everyone then went silent.

You faced forward and realised that Levi was looking at you. You made eye contact with him but only for a few seconds before he shifted his eyes and looked at the others.

"Cover your ears." Levi ordered as he took out a flare gun and fire it.

"A noise grenade?" Eren asked as he cover his ears.

"Our job is to protect Eren. Don't let that b***h titan lay a finger on him.We'll keep going on our horses. Do you understand?" Levi told the rest.

You nod and tighten the grip on the rein. In the corner of your eye, you could see Eren staring at you in disbelief. He couldn't believe that you agreed on Levi's order.

"Keep going? For how long? Besides, its right on top of us--" Eren stopped his words as he saw another solider charging at the Female Titan. Without hesitating, the female titan slammed the soldier into one of the tree trunks with its fist. There was an explosion of the red blood as you gaze in terror.

"Another one is dead!!" Eren panicked.

"There's another one still fighting! Lets--"

"Eren! Eyes on the road. Look forward!" Petra scolded.

"Are you telling me to look away and abandon them?!"

"THATS RIGHT! Just obey heicho's orders!"

Eren didn't continue the argument. He put back his blades and stared at his hand.

'He couldn't be planning to transform into a titan right?"

"JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" You stopped Eren that was about to bite his hand.

"You're only allowed to do that if your life is in danger! You promised us."Petra reminded him.

"You aren't wrong. If you want to do it, then do it. I can tell. He's a real monster. And it has nothing to do with his titan power. No matter what power you use to supress him, no matter what cage you put him in, he will never submit to anyone. Eren, the difference between your decision and ours, is experience. But you don't have to rely on that. Choose. Believe in yourself or believe in the Survey Corps and me. I don't know... I never have believe in my abilities or the choice of companions I trust. So choose yourself whatever decision you regret the least." Levi said to Eren in a calm tone.

A few minutes had passed and Eren still hasn't made his decision.

"EREN! You're taking too long!"

Eren gulped and shut his eyes tightly.

"I-- I-- I WILL LOOK FORWARD!"

Everyone smiled in relief while you and Levi just stared at him. You knew that that was a bad decision.

"Thank you, Eren." Petra smiled but then it faded away when she heard the soldier begging the female titan to let him go. But it was too late. The female titan dragged him against the trunks and threw him to the ground stomping on him.

After galloping at a high speed, you could hear someone shouted.

"FIREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" A loud bang appeared. You look behind and discovered the titan being stabbed by these wires that wont allow it to move. You heard a sigh of relief escaped from Oluo's mouth.

'No,, I believe this is not the end!' You thought to yourself worrying.

"Advance a bit further, tether the horse and switch to maneuver gear. You guys will be off in your own for a while. Eld, lead the squad. Once you're a good distance away from the the titan. Hide Eren. Take my horse." He said and with that, he jumped off his horse and launched his anchor to one of the tress gliding away.

Everyone was relieved while you were still frowning.

"This.....this isnt the end.." You muttered under your breath and stared at the ground.

"What is it?" Eren looked at you.

"This...THIS ISNT THE END. How can you possibly think its that easy to capture a titan that is just like Eren."You then switched to maneuver gear and landed on the tree as well as the others after tying the horses nearby.

The others were bragging about how great Levi is when suddenly you heard a loud cry.

After a few moments, a blue flared was fired.

"Back to your horses! Prepare to retreat." Gunther ordered.

Gliding from trees to trees, Gunther saw a green flare.

"That must be Levi's signal. We'll rendezvous with the Captain."Gunther landed on a tree to fire the signal.

As we were gliding, you saw a suspicious person wearing the cape of Wings Of Freedom. The person covered the face so we couldn't see properly.

"Who are you?!" Gunther asked before you could even ask. The next thing you know, Gunther was stabbed and he banged to a tree trunk and collapsed. Blood flowed out from his forehead and stomach.

"s**t!" Oluo's eyes widen.

"GUNTHER!" Petra called out his name.

Then with a flash, a lightning bolt appeared.

"It's coming!"

"It's THE FEMALE TITAN!"

"ARGH! I WILL KILL YOU." Eren clutched his hand.

"Don't! The three of us will kill the female titan. Alessa, protect Eren!" Eld looked at you and Eren with a serious face. You nodded and dragged Eren away from them as the three of them began fighting.

"LET ME GO! I must help them! No, WE must help them! We have the ability to turn into Titans. So lets go and help them!!" Eren struggled to escape from your grasp. Annoyed, you landed on a tree and pushed him against the tree trunk.

"LISTEN HEAR EREN! You're not capable of handling your titan power. So even if you help them, the result will just end up the same. EVERYONE WILL DIE. They're buying us time to escape. Their risking their lives for us! No, for you!! So just shut the hell up."

"How about you? Maybe I'm not capable of handling my titan power but how about you? Are you strong enough to kill the Female Titan? Are you capable enough? If you are, I beg you, please, HELP THEM! I don't want anyone else to die!" Eren pleaded. Your eyes went wide and you stood there speechless. When suddenly an explosion of blood could be heard. You turned around and saw Eld, Oluo & Petra ...dead.

".......no....no way...NONONONONONONO THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!! NOO!" Eren was about to fly over to them when you stopped him.

"Let go of me! I...will kill..THE FEMALE TITAN!" With that, he jumped off the tree and bite his hand. A bolt of lightning struck as Eren's titan form appeared.

Eren's fist flew to the female titan's face. The female titan crouched down, dodging the attack and kicked him hard on the stomach. Eren then pushed her to the tree. Her head banged to the tree so hard. Eren then pushed her to ground and punched her in the face. She then kicked him away, and run. Eren chased after her and you stood there in disbelief not because of the fight...its because of the Female Titan. She looks familiar now that you are near it. You were deep in thoughts when suddenly,,

"BAMMMMMMM!!"

"Eren?" You dashed towards where the sound came from and discovered only Eren's body. You watched as Eren was being swallowed by the Female Titan.

"EREENN!" From the corner of your eyes, you could see Mikasa & Levi not far away from you. The female titan then ran off.

"YOU BASTARDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!" You raged. You werent even thinking properly at that point of time and bite your right hand. The next thing you know, you became a titan.

**Levi's POV**

I watched as Alessa turned into a titan. My eyes widen with shock and I was speechless. Just..what is going on? She's......a titan too?Since when?!

Alessa run at full speed towards the female titan, she caught up with her and threw her to the ground. Ripping her arms and her left eye away. She punched the female titan several times on the face.

"Eren! EREN IS STILL IN THERE! Be careful!" Mikasa warned her.

But she didn't listen. She was about to rip the female titan's head off when she pushed Alessa away with her strength and continued running. Her eye & arms were still regenerating. Alessa chased after her and grabbed her by the hair, swinging the female titan towards one of the trees. She then fell. Before Alessa could make the next move, I interrupted their fight and started slashing the female titan in a different direction. The female titan's hand that was covering the neck soon fell. Mikasa was about to cut the nape of her neck when the female titan's hand swung towards Mikasa. I pushed Mikasa away and then launch my anchor on the titan's face. I cut the side of the mouth so that the mouth will be open.

The mouth then opened and there, we saw Eren covered in saliva. Within seconds, I managed to get him out of there and landed on the tree.

"Oi Mikasa! Bring Eren to safe place! I must get Alessa out." Levi literally threw Eren to Mikasa.

"Roger!" Mikasa then glided away, leaving the two titans and me. The Female Titan was still unconscious. Alessa approached her and grab her by the neck. She tighten the grip and then threw her to the ground as hard as she can. She was about to stepped on the titan's head when I cut the nape of Alessa's neck. Its body fell to the ground and Alessa could be seen in the nape of the neck conscious but there's something different about her. As I moved closer to her to get her out, I saw that she wasnt wearing the mask or the eyepatch and what was left was..............her identity.... The face I've been waiting to see.... My heart beated rapidly as I cupped her cheeks.

"Alessa...no...(y/n)......you're.... ALIVE!" I embraced her tightly.

"I thought I've lost you..... Why.... Why didn't you tell me the truth?Ohgod. I miss you so much you i***t!" I removed the strands of hair that covered her beautiful face. I pulled her out and gathered with others. When I reached there, people were so shocked to see (y/n).

"(Y/n)?!? Is that YOU?!?" Hanji couldn't believe her eyes and rushed towards her as I put her in the wagon.

"IT IS YOUUU!" Hanji hugged (y/n) tightly,that was still unconscious.

"But-but how come?"

"She disgused herself as Alessa and she turned into a titan not long ago."

"A titan? *gasp* NOW WE HAVE TWO TITAN SHIFTERS?!? THATS AMAZINGGGGGG!" Hanji's eyes sparkled as she clasped her hands together rubbing it.

"Tch, shut up four eyes." We then proceeded gallop back to the walls when..

"TITANS!" The titan was chasing after two soliders. One of them was carrying a dead body behind his back.

"We can't fight in this open space! There's no trees or buildings." Armin watched in horror as one of them got eaten by the titan. The other guy who was carrying a dead body on its back was caught by the titan. The titan clutched him tightly and opened its mouth preparing to eat him when Mikasa saved him. The rest of the titans were chasing after us.

"They'll catch up soon!" One of the soliders said. My heart felt heavy and I tighten my grip on the rein.

"Just abandon these bodies....."I told them.

"But--"

"Do you want us all to get killed?"

The soldiers were about to threw the dead bodies away when (y/n) shouted.

"DON'T!" She got up and looked at the large number of titans behind us.

"I'll handle this!" She said in determination.

"WHAT?!? ARE YOU CRAZY?! BUT YOU--"Levi's words were cut off.

"I SAID I'LL HANDLE THIS!" She jumped off the wagon and landed on the ground. She looked behind facing me and slightly smile.

"Everything is going to be okay," She mouthed out the words. I could see tears forming in her eyes.

She bite her hand and transformed into a titan. Her titan form was somewhat like the previous Female Titan but its just that the hair colour and the length were different.

My eyes went large as the titans were surrounded her and tried to eat her. But she fight back pushing them away and killing them. But there was still more of them. The number of titans are too big for her to handle! The titans slowly engulfed her.

"NOOO!"

'I can't afford to lose her again. I don't want to separate from her again!I don't want her to leave my side! Don't go.I don't want you to go off before I could even tell you how I feel!'

I jumped off my horse and launched my anchor towards the titan's neck and cut it off. I could see (y/n)'s titan form laying on the ground. She wasn't fully eaten. Her arms and left leg were ripped off. I killed as many titans as I could.

Once the titan decreases a little, I cut off the nape of (y/n)'s titan neck and pulled her out. My horse came for me and we hopped onto it as it galloped at full speed leaving the titans behind.

When we reached the walls, the people there were shouting in anger. But we ignore it. There's nothing we can do. We can't bring the dead back to life.

The expenses and casualties from the expedition were more than enough to discredit the faction that had supported the Survey Corps. As those responsible, including Erwin, were summoned to the capital. It was decided that Eren was to be handed over.

(Y/N)'s POV

Your eyes fluttered open and you realised you're in someone's bedroom. You rubbed your head and sat on the edge of the bed comprehending everything that happened during the expedition.

"How are you feeling?" A familiar voice asked you. You looked up and noticed Levi leaning against the wall with his arms folded.

"Hm,better. How long was I unconscious?" You asked.

"2 days."

"Oh god.." You then ran your fingertips on your eyes and realised you werent wearing an eyepatch and also the mask.

"Levi, I---" You tried to explain to him but Levi approached you and pushed you to a wall. He put both of his hands to the side of you on the wall and leaned over. His eyes locked onto yours, he pulled your waist closer to him.

"Mmm,, Levi." Levi nibbled your ears and trailed kisses from your jawline to your collarbone. He licked your neck before kissing it.

"Levi, what was that all ab--" Levi cut off your sentence with a kiss.

He then moved down and unbuttoned your shirt, slowly removing it.
