CHAPTER SIX

In fancy writing is the following letter:

My dearest Josiphena,

It is with my heaviest heart that I wish to tell you how very sorrowful I was to hear of your beloved grandmother Betsy Ann’s passing from this barbarous world. She was always thought of fondly. Imagine my astonishment to learn of your new location, and from a witch nonetheless! I can only imagine that you are there, because you did not know that you had any other family to go too. My dear you do have family, and I would love nothing more than to finally encounter the beauty that I am sure that you have, as radiant as your mother and your grandmother were.

Ps. Your new neighbors will not take kindly to your relations on this side, so for your safety keep this letter private. Please go to see Witch Marie one more time on your own. She will be waiting on you.

Who the f**k is Gustav Ion Dodson? That’s all I need is more family. More people to offer me more money, to make up for not being there in my life.

Damn. The witch obviously contacted him after my scenting. But why? How did she know to contact him?

Well I think I need to know. So that means a trip to see the witch, on my own. Great. Am I even allowed to leave this town, even for the day?

I put the letter up, in a cubby hole. Then go get dressed. I head into town. Lunch at the diner sounds great!

Hey Sarah!

Josie! Hey! Have a seat I’ll get your water!

She comes back with my bottle of water and some stew.

Beef stew. It’s good. I can’t keep my boy out of it today. Good thing you came in early! The way he keeps eating it, I'll run out early!

Thanks! I’m going out of town for a couple of days. I’ll be missing this!

Oh yeah where are you going?

I have to go back to my old town. I want to take care of the things with that lawyer as soon as I can.

Oh really? What’s the rush? Did something come up?

No, not really, I just did not trust him much so thought I would be there as soon as I turned eighteen to close off all deals with him.

What? You're not going to be here for your birthday? I had a party planned already!

We can have it as soon as I get back! I won’t be gone long. I am only going to take a few days.

As soon as I'm done eating, I head back to pack my bag.

I wonder why I am not surprised when Dennis is waiting at my gate as I pull in.

I heard you will not be here for your birthday. I think you need to wait. The Alpha likes to meet his members on the day of their eighteenth birthday.

He can wait a day.

How about I come with you?

I drove by myself here. I think I can make it back to my old town, and back again by myself.

Sarah had a party planned. It is a little rude.

It is not rude if I knew nothing about the party.

Dennis just let me go. Do not make everything so damn hard. I will be back in a few days. I would promise to call as soon as I was back, but you know as well as I do that the road block will call you with that information.

I drove past him and through my gate.

As soon as I was in the house I headed down to my den and grabbed my bag. I throw some clothes in the bag.

I grab the no scent spray. I wonder if she gave this to me, knowing what it would be like to get away from this damn mountain. I stuff it in my bag.

On the way out, I stopped by the bank and get some travel money. After several people asking me where I was going, and why, I finally got back in my Jeep.

As I start to pass the diner Sarah runs out with a bag in her hand.

Here, I fixed you some food. You do not need to eat a bunch of fast food!

Thank you, Sarah! I put the food on the passenger side floor.

When I get to the roadblock, I wave at Greg.

Hey, did you get the food from Sarah?

Yeah! I got it!

Ok, well hurry back!

I will!

He opens the block and I head out.

Finally! I am free! I know why people do not leave much, it is just easier to stay!

I really do need to go to that lawyer, but only after I go see what this witch has to say.

As soon as I can not see the guard shack any more, I pull over and soray the no scent spray on me. One at the head, and one down toward the waist. Just like the witch said.

A few hours later, I pulled in front of her house. I walk up and knock. Fran answered.

Well that was fast! She looks around me, come on in. This time she does not yank me in, she just stands aside. So I walk-in.

She’s in the same room. Just go on back. I am sure there are a few things you would like to talk about.

I go on down the hall and through the curtain.

Josie! Come sit with me! You came faster than I expected, but as I said before you are always welcome here!

I went and sat in a chair across from her. Fran brought in some tea, and sat it down, then left.

Without asking she poured both of us a cup.

Josie, I did tell you a lot when you were here, but I did not tell you everything. I had to talk to someone else before I did that. Now I know I can. It is time you knew everything.

You are not only a wolf and a human. When you were here I got another scent. Now do not worry, only a witch can pick this up at this time because you have never opened that side of yourself yet.

My birthmark is a sign of the wolf.

Who told you that? No, your mark is only carried by the descendants of Dodson Ion Gustav.

Your grandmother was one of the wives of Dodson. She was from Romania. In America she changed her name from Dodson Beatrix Andrada to Betsy Ann Dodson. She came here to give birth to her daughter Tamie Laurie Dodson.

But I do not understand. My mother was human. Wait, how do you know all this?

Your mother was half human and half vampire. Vampire hybrids do not have to feed. If a hybrid does not feed then they never awaken their vampire side. She likely never knew of her heritage.

Your grandmother left and never contacted her husband again. However, he did find her. When he contacted her she ran again. He found them again but did not contact them. He watched your mother grow up. He watched you grow up.

So my birthmark says that I am his granddaughter, that I am part vampire. But the wolves do not know this?

The Alpha will know what that mark means, and when he sees it he will kill you. The wolves and the vampires have been at war for at least a century. He will consider you a spy, which holds a death sentence.

Will he be able to scent my vampire side?

I am not sure. That is why I gave you the no scent spray.

I have never met your Alpha. I do not know his strengths. I do know that he can determine your strength. He will come on your eighteenth birthday to scent you, mainly he is looking for his mate. If you are not his mate but a strong wolf, he will invite you to join his female warriors. If he does not believe you to be a strong wolf then he will just invite you to join his pack, go back up the mountain, and leave you alone. So I know that he does have a strong strength to be able to find his warriors this way.

When he meets you he must not smell your vampire, or your strength. He must believe that you are just a weak hybrid.

If you wish to stay in that pack then you must never show your mark, and you must never kill with your mouth any living thing, as a person or wolf. If you do kill with your mouth rather in this form or your wolf you will awaken your vampire side.

If you awaken your vampire side, you will have to feed right away. If you do not feed right away you will die within twenty four hours.

What happens after I feed?

Because you are a Royal you will only have to feed about once a month at first. But when you feed you will need so much blood that you will drink who you feed from dry. As time goes by you will need less and less.

With your vampire unawakened, your meat that you eat gives just enough blood to keep the red out of your eye.

But once you are awakened you will have a dot of red in each eye that will show when you need blood. If you were a full vampire it would be a full ring in your eye, a half has a half ring.

As for any more information on vampire life you should meet with your grandfather. He has given me this envelope to give to you. As a descendant of the King, you have certain rights and privileges. Rather you open your vampire side or not.

I leave their home and get in Baby Blue. Time to head to my old town to see that lawyer. It is beginning to look like I will need all of my financials straight, right away!

When I pick up my phone to set the gps I see a couple messages left by Dennis.

Hey Dennis! Sorry I missed your calls.

You left without saying anything! Are you ok?

I am fine. I did tell you I was leaving for a few days. I am on my way to my old town. I want to get that lawyer straight as fast as possible.

Our pack lawyer could do that.

I am doing it. I’ll be back in a few days.

But you won’t be here for your birthday!

We already went through all of this Dennis, at my gate remember?

No, I will not be there but I’ll be back soon. I did not know that I was locked down in the pack never able to leave!

You're not. It is not like that. We just had planned on you being here. A party was planned and the Alpha was going to meet you.

Well, no one told me about the party, until I talked to Sarah this morning, and the Alpha can meet me anytime. Just like I said before!

I will be back in a few days, Dennis. I hung up the phone.

I drive about five more hours then grab some fast food and find a hotel.

Once in the room I take a shower and curl up on the bed with my latest envelope. Everyone always leaves information in envelopes.

Inside is another letter.

Josiphena,

As my descendant you have things that are rightfully yours. You do not have to awaken your vampire side. But I do hope that you will take the time to get to know me. I do not put much into age so unlike those trust funds the following is yours now.

Included you will find the deed in your name to a beautiful home in a small town called McDonough, Georgia.

This home is special. A witches spell has been put around it to keep any supernatural, magical, presence from entering it except you. To let someone through you just invite them, to stop them once again you uninvite them.

You no longer have to live in a compound behind gates, walls, fences, and locks. You may come and go as you please, at any time of the day.

I put a lot of thought into building this home and it even has a copy of your den that you now have in Sandersville.

I know that the wolves have set you up financially very well. However, I myself have set up a bank account. No lawyers or special banks involved. The account is in your name. No one else can touch it. In this account I have ten million, for you.

A word of advice: move all your funds into this account from other places as soon as possible. If you feel better, set up your own account wherever you like and move all the money, even the money I gave you, into that account. They make it sound great, and that the money is all yours, but they can take it away any time they want.

Also I have included all my contact information. Right now I am in Atlanta Georgia at my home there in hope that you will invite me to your new home, or that you stop by my home in Atlanta.

After I leave the lawyer, I will drive down to the new house. To see it, before going home.

I think I will take grandfather's advice and cash out my trust funds immediately, as well as the account he set up.

I will open my own.

The next day on my eighteenth birthday, I pull into my old town, and at 10:00 am I walk into my lawyers office.

When I leave I have a check in my hand. I immediately set off for McDonough, Georgia.

Once there I go directly to the bank and remove my money. It takes several hours. Then I cross the street and open another account. Depositing sixteen million dollars. Once they are done flaunting over me, I set the gps for my new home.
