Leaving the classroom as school ended, I accidentally bumped into someone. I felt something electric flowing through my body like sparks, it was so unfamiliar, I had this feeling that it was my mate because this wasn’t natural.
“Mate” Artella growled in my head, I looked up almost getting lost in those brown eyes but his shout brought me back from wherever my mind had drifted off to, then I realized that Chase is my mate
“What the hell?” He shouted as he saw me
“What?” I asked looking confused, I guess he didn’t like this pairing but I just couldn’t help but feel hopeful.
“Meet me at the near the oak tree” he said sternly then walked away immediately, with his face scrunched up in an angry frown, like he couldn’t be seen talking to me and that hurt a bit
“You are lucky the forest is just by the school” I murmured to myself but still walked towards his direction intending to really meet him there, I couldn’t help but feel this sense of dread but I brushed it off. I kept walking down to where he said we should meet then I heard his voice, he was literally growling and snarling.
“why the f*****g hell did the moon goddess pair me wih someone like you… You are nothing but an ugly, pathetic human and you are not even strong enough to beat the young cubs not talk of an adult wolf. I need a strong Luna not a slave” he spat and that stung deeply more than all the beatings I have ever received that I had to fight the strong urge to break down.
“Someone like me” I murmured to myself before speaking out loud, “but mates are supposed to love each other no matter what I mean you can’t fight the mate bond right?” Tears unknowingly fell down from my cheeks as I asked but before I knew it or could even say anything else, that is when I heard it for the first time in my life.
“ Pfft… Yeah right” he scoffed “I Chase Rainer, future Alpha of the blood moon pack rejects you Hayley Carter as my mate and future Luna”. Immediately he finished he stormed off, not even waiting for me to accept the rejection but oh man did it hurt, I almost felt like the world was spinning in front of me, it hurt like a real b***h and that is when I made up my mind.
“Kacey” I tried to mindlink my best friend but her walls were put up, I bore the pain and ran as fas as I could towards the pack house with tears streaming down my face, I was thankful that no one was around at this time as I would have been an entertaining spectacle for them to enjoy.
I got to the pack house, without wasting time I ran straight to my room that is if you can even call it that, I packed what little clothes I had, picked up every penny I had kept over the years , when I finished I sat on the small bed thinking of what I should do then the thought of writing a letter came and that’s what I decided to do, I picked up a notepad, a pen and I began the first letter.
To my parents
“Dear mother and father
Am I really going to miss you? I mean you did treat me badly when you found out I didn’t turn but I guess there is nothing like family right? I used to miss those times we were one happy family but not anymore. Well that’s all I can say goodbye”
To my brothers
Lucas – Big brother, you have always been there for me at all times, even when you couldn’t, you would always find a way to come through for me which I am very grateful for. Please after you see this which I am guessing you will be the first to see it, don’t try to look for me because I know you would but I don‘t want to be found, I would rather go rogue than remain in this hell where I don’t belong. I love you so much brother more than anything.
Luke - Luke my brother, I have always loved you even when you treated me like a way to vent your anger, you and Chase, but I can’t just seem to hate you, goodbye brother, I know you would be more than happy now I am gone.
To my ex-mate - Chase
I never knew mates could reject each other until you rejected me, I am finally out of your life you don’t even know how relieved I feel, pained but relieved. Chase you caused me more pain than every other person in the pack and in many ways and I finally have a chance to leave. Goodbye.
I finished writing all the letters, I placed them on the bed and ran to Kacey’s room, at least I have my best friend who always had my back, I packed a few things and with both our bags I drove her fathers car down to school and waited for her return at our usual meeting spot.
“Hey girl” Kacey hugged me immediately she saw me but she noticed something was wrong she asked “what’s wrong? You are usually not here by this time, did something happen?”
“Its time K” I said as I opened the passengers door and sat in the car
“Time? Time for what? You are freaking me out”
“It is time for us to leave this place” I whispered
“Oh, you should have said that a long time ago, wait I just need to pack my stuff” She grinned excitedly kicking the engines
“Already did that” I gestured to the bags sitting in the backseat
“Then what are we waiting for lets hit the road baby” she was more excited about this than I was as she has always been looking forward to this day, although I know that she wanted to ask me what brought the change of mind but I can appreciate her not asking right now.
* * *
“Kacey,” I called “its getting late, you get some rest let me take the wheels”
“You sure about that?” She asked worriedly and I nodded “But be careful, okay?”
“Okay” I replied and she stopped the vehicle and come out of car and we switched places.
I drove for a long time now exhausted both body and mind, I had not had time to think about the rejection, I realized when we left the Blood Moon pack territory, we felt our bonds with the pack breaking as we left the pack without the Alpha’s permission, although it was a little bit painful, we didn’t think much of the pain.
While driving I felt lost, I didn’t know where we are in the map anymore, , what I didn’t expect was that we had gone into another packs territory, I turned to see that Kacey was fast asleep and just in that split second, a large wolf ran past me not wanting to hit it, I tried steering the wheel but I diverted out of the road and hit a tree, everything completely blacked out.
