Chapter One
"Ugh" I groaned, "My head is killing me." As I slowly began to sit up, I felt stones stabbing at my butt, and dust covering me. Curiosity began to grow. "Where am I?".
Standing up, all I could see was darkness but I could hear plenty of noises.
" You alright there?" A voice chirped, scaring me into attack position.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" A feminine voice said. Suddenly a young girls face appeared in front of mine.
"You're all good, just didn't expect that." I responded, sweeping the dust and stones off of mean.
"I'm Jessica, but call me Jess." She smiled.
"I'm Oliver, but I go by Ollie" I replied.
"What an interesting name for a girl" She winked.
"I thought so too." I giggled, hiding my confusion.
"Any idea where we are?" Jess examined.
"Nope. Not a clue." I uttered.
I started processing the area around. There was old buildings, but clearly have been used recently.
"Looks like an old western town, but seems to have been used not to long ago." I stated.
"Total agreement" She spoke.
I turned to her, examining her looks. Waist long brown hair, with blond highlights. Torn jeans soaked in blood. Blood-Stained, yellow striped, crop-top. And the brightest smile to ever been seen in this type of situation.
"What have you been up to?" I blurted.
"Oh uh exploring." She chuckled, " I tripped and skimmed my knee and the blood splatter on to my shirt."
I stared at her expecting more, but I smiled, "Sounds fun".
She grew hee bright smile again.
Minutes later there was screaming.
"More people?" I gasped, I never thought I would enjoy seeing more people.
"Oh yeah. There was people unconscious all over the place." Jess mumbled.
I didn't make a big deal about it because last she knew they were lying on the ground too.
We started walking towards the scream; light slowly began to show.
In no time I was standing only a few feet from what seemed to be a school sized population of people. Ranging from kid to elder.
Then there was a beep. A screeching beep, that gave my ears an extreme zap of sharp pain.
"Hello. Welcome to utter death, the game." A voice domed around us. There was no speaker in sight, but someone was clearly talking from the sky.
I saw a kid curled against her mother. "I don't wanna die mommy." She wailed.
Her mother was trying to comfort her, without making the empty promises.
"Only one shall survive. The rest will die." The voice chuckled. They get entertained from people's pain and struggle to survive.
"Every 5 minutes there will be a beep and if your in the wrong space you'll be zapped and the air will be sucked from your lungs." It explained.
"Well at least we have a heads-up before we die." Jess joked.
"Good luck." It stated, and there was the screeching beep. I felt blood trickle from my ear.
