{Queen's pov clinic part 2}
I bumped right into nurse Jackie on my way out she looked panicked but not because we collided. She took off down the hall and into exam room #4 hauling some gauzes and sutures under her arm. So by instinct, I had followed behind her to see what the problem was. and thank goddess I did. When we reached the room I could hear Dr.bob swearing at the on-call nurse Linda and her sobs could be heard from the halls.
"Why the F#%k did you let me do this! You F%#cking incompetent b#%ch! Why wouldn't you stop me!" he yelled out.
Pushing past nurse Jackie to get a better look I noticed the patient an older male laid out on the bed with his stomach cut open down the middle with the skin peeled back, blood all over the floor. It was a scene straight out of one of those horror films. The patient laid there deceased and cold. I grabbed up the chart at the end of the metal tray covered in bloody utensils, at first glance I noticed the name, Albert Stevenson. My father's old friend. It said he was only here for a simple case of kidney stones. Seems like old jack the ripper over there decided to manually remove them himself. Apparently, I can't let him out of my sight for even a moment before he goes all psycho killer on one of his poor innocent patients.
"Well, what do we do now?" Dr. Bob asked me still covered in the patient's blood.
"Tell his wife Halloween came early," nurse Jackie replied with a snicker.
"You killed him. What do you think we need to do i***t" I replied causing everyone to turn to me.
The frantic nurse Linda started wailing louder taking off into the hallway leaving the three of us alone with the dead man's corpse.
"Well what do you want to do about it?" nurse Jackie asked.
"Call the alpha, there's nothing I can do here" I replied. as I took my leave.
Heading out into the hallway I passed the poor traumatized nurse Linda curled up in the fetal position on the hallway floor. Muttering something under her breath.
"He just wouldn't stop, it wasn't my fault" she cried out behind me.
"I know Linda .. just take a few minutes then go take a long lunch" I replied to her.
"How can I eat after all that blood" she cried.
I felt for her I really did but the amount of damage control I would be doing for the rest of the day was way too much for me to be babysitting her hurt feelings. We are wolves after all. I get it she's not an aggressive wolf just another lowly omega wolf, like the rest of us hospital staffers but come on, grow up Linda. I've seen wolves come in here in worse shape than that. Try working on a teenage cadaver in your first year of med school. Shell be okay. If not then maybe she can be a kitchen help or something more suitable for her needs. Till then I'm gonna need to do something about Dr. Bob once and for all. Before another innocent life is ended too soon.
Nurse Jackie finished the clean-up of the exam room while I phoned the packhouse awaiting the alphas visit so he could figure out just what to do about "Edward scissor hands" over here. As Dr.bob sat in the staff lounge in an adult time out of sorts. I honestly didn't know what else to do with him. And keeping him far away from patients was the only thing I could do right now, couldn't even look at him after what he did. And to think that could have been gabby if I hadn't come in on time to stop him. If only I could have been there to help Albert too. Nurse Jackie checked in on Dr. Bob in the staff room then came back over to the front desk to sit with me in awkward silence as we both waited for the alpha to show up. There wasn't much to be said after all that happened in exam room 4. And we both knew it. this was the first time I had ever seen her speechless and honestly, it was a good look on her compared to her usual who cares attitude and smart remarks. Guess there wasn't much to joke about today when you know you just might lose your job too.
We waited almost an hour before the front door burst open and in came, The Greenland Pack Beta Emmanuel, and Alpha rowen rushing in. Finally, help had arrived. I hopped up almost immediately and began to fill them in the best I could to what had been happening the past few months and what went down in exam room 4 while I was with my own patient. Being that I didn't really see it but only the aftermath of it, I needed to let nurse Jackie explain the gruesome details along with nurse Linda. Alpha rowen just sat there staring intensely at me as the 2 nurses filled him in. His beta Emmanuel went to investigate the crime scene in the back for himself as we talked to the alpha. Afterward, he came back 5 minutes later smelling of stale blood with this look of disgust on his face. He gave the alpha this look that I could only assume meant "Yeah he's dead.. It's bad" the alpha looked him in the eye sternly like they were having an intense conversation in a mind link that no one else could hear. It was times like this I wish I could hear the thoughts of others. This conversation looked so intense. The alpha and his beta finally ended their link then turned to us and asked where is the Doctor now. The nurses, of course, were hesitant to reply immediately so I went over to the staff lounge and motioned them over to follow me in. Once we got through the door we found him sound asleep on the staff table looking as if he was having the most peaceful sleep of his life. The beta Emmanuel walked right up to Dr. Bob and yoked him off the table and onto his feet. He woke almost as fast as he was in the air, his eyes looking around in full panic he shouted "unhand me sir" but the beta was in no mood. Dr. Bob noticed just whose arms he was in and he knew he stood no chance. His struggle soon stopped and the beta let go dropping him to the floor. The doctor looked up at the alpha standing behind me and his eyes grew wide. he looked me dead in the face pale as ever and asked "How could you" as if I did something wrong when he was the one who destroyed this clinic's reputation and worse of all he might just have started a huge lawsuit for us.
"How could you!" I spat back.
"Why would you continue here when you knew your mind was going Bob? why would you put the lives of your packmates in jeopardy like this?" the betta said.
The alpha finally stepped forward and spoke up at this point. "Man you are lucky your an old friend of my father's or id have your head for this," He said. and he meant it too.
Dr. Bob scooted back on the floor until his back touched the table. He kept making excuses for his behavior but I couldn't bear to hear that crap anymore so I bowed to the hot alpha before taking my leave. Stepped out of the room shutting the door behind me. Looking up I noticed the nurses pretending to do paperwork as they eavesdropped on the alpha's conversation with the doctor. I scuffed as I passed them, heading back to room 3 to check on little gabby and make sure she was doing alright. As I approached her room I could sense she was still in there asleep and unbothered by the noise going on in the lounge at all. Opening the door I found her in the very same spot I left her in. Snug as a bug in a rug. She was curled up in the fetal position with her legs hugged to her chest. She looked peaceful lying there like she hadn't had any sleep in days. I threw another blanket on her then went to check in the next patient. Things were quite slow today with all that was going on the wait was longer than usual. But no one seemed to be complaining. It was only three people waiting to be seen in the lobby so I took the first patient I saw, she was an elderly lady with some silver curls and a bright smile when she laid eyes on me. I think she was just glad I wasn't Dr. Bob coming to see her. I motioned for her to follow me and placed her in exam room 1 gave her a hospital gown to change into as I went to check in the next patient. Exiting her room I headed back over to the lobby and grabbed my next patient she was a teenager about the same age as Ellie, I lead her to exam room 2 and gave her a gown, and told her to put it on as I stepped out and attended to exam room 1. Stepping back into the elderly lady's room she greeted me with a gentle but nervous smile and asked if id be the physician shed be seeing today. I answered her "yes" and she seemed to be relieved. Nurse Linda came in behind me ready to assist.
"So what'll be the problem today Mrs. Goldstein?" I asked as I read the chart in front of me Linda had just passed me.
She complained of pain in her knee but insisted she didn't want any meds to ease her pain. I stood quiet for a minute and thought about the best approach to a solution without medication when my wolf decided to weigh in.
"She needs your healing touch Queen. just like you did before with gabby." Mirna persisted.
She was right but I didn't know how this worked or even where it came from. it was unlike anything I had ever trained for and I want just going to keep doing it. right?. It's crazy. And honestly, it felt like more of a hallucination than facing the reality that something so strange could have happened and came from me at that. It... It's unheard of, To say the least. But she was in pain and I had to try something.
"You can do this Queenie. We will do this together. I'm here for you" Mirna tried to persuade me.
But this was insane. Wasn't it? to think I had anything to do with the healing gabby went through in there. It had to be some sort of wolf healing that took place in there. Some sort of scientific explanation. Because otherwise, it made no sense.
"Keep telling yourself that Queen, if that helps. but we both know at her age she hasn't even come into her wolf yet so she heals like a normal human soo.."
Mirna was really starting to erk my nerves this afternoon and I know she knew this too. Being that we shared the same feelings and all. I couldn't deny what happened was anything short of a miracle but where was the scientific proof! where the hell did that even come from, I've never done anything like that before. It was almost like my body knew what needed to be done and just sprang into action and poof she was healing right before my very eyes. Just listen to me I sound like I should be in the crazy house along with Doctor Bob or something. But if I could just make one person better than they were coming in then maybe it's not that crazy... Maybe it's something I should at least try again. I owe it to her to at least try right?
She looked at me with such hope in her eyes like she just knew I'd be the one to help her, and I didn't want to let her down. I also didn't know what this powerful healing technique would do to her or myself for that matter if I were to keep using it. It would be irresponsible to continue using it if I didn't quite understand it myself. And my Patient lives meant way more to me than to use them as some sort of guinea pigs in a trial run, not knowing the side effects first. I mean what kind of doctor would I be? right. Then again if I knew I had this strange magical power within me that could help people then would I be cruel not using it to save a life or better it in some way if I could. but maybe not in front of nurse Linda, she's had enough scares for today.
The beta and alpha escorted Dr. Bob out the back door but not before letting me know id be covering his shifts tomorrow. After sending my patient home with four oxy's and a follow-up appointment for tomorrow so I could get some rest and possibly a more private one on one session with her without the nosey nurse Linda's observation. I checked in on gabby once more before seeing my last two patients and heading home closing the clinic down early for the night. It was only 8 pm but we all had an eventful day and could all use some rest to start back bright-eyed and bushy-tailed tomorrow. Still wasn't too thrilled to be taking over all of Dr. Bob's patients on my own tomorrow either.
