“Rochelle will love attending the Accelerated Education Institute.” Audrie sat next to me in the back seat of Alexander’s truck as he drove us from the train station to the house. As much as Kinley had tried to discourage her from coming back to Maibe, Audrie had been adamant about discussing our situation as an entire family. “All of the students there have gone through a thorough screening process and passed rigorous tests to get in.” Lunch had been civil.
