I tried my hardest not to react or blink. It was surprising how I managed to stay calm in this kind of situation where my beliefs in real, and unreal was tested. Yes, there’s a lot of things that happened and surprisingly exist. Although I still need more words from him.
We were just starting.
A vampire hunter... They are a family who hunts vampires. And still, how? How can a vampire existed in this world? Are there any theories? A cursed? Or what?
“It started on year 1984, wherein a virus called Vampire’s Blood Transfusion was found in a body that was long dead for hundred years. There were four scientists who discovered the virus,” he looked at me directly. “My mom’s father, her sister, even Emory’s father, and our mom’s ex-partner.”
My forehead creased. I got it, but it sort of confusing. I didn’t need to ask as he immediately opens his mouth when he see my face, baffled.
“Emory and I shared the same mother, so technically, we’re half-siblings. Her father was one of those scientists who found the virus, and was dying for cancer. While my father...” He coughed. “The man I have told you about, Azarius Saint Laurent, he’s my older brother at father side, Lia. And also, my grandfather and my father were the one who totally created this chaos... Who invented the vampires by experimenting the blood they have found from the dead.”
I was just intently listening at him, unable to think of a response.
“My Auntie ran before they could even complete the process of creating the virus, while the other three continued on experimenting. When the virus was completed, they have tried it to Azar’s mother, who became the first vampire in history. Well, second after that dead body. Once injected, they’ll be a victim of their wickedness who turned humans to vampires,” he paused. “Then, after Emory was born, they injected it to her father... The reason why he’s still alive until now.”
I tried to process everything but it was too much for me.
“Azar’s father was my mom’s ex-partner. He turned his mother, and himself after my sister’s father, then they procreate... Resulting Azar to be a full vampire. After that, my mother got pregnant by him. She’s a human, my father was not. That resulted me, being a half vampire, Lia.”
Unknowingly, my head started to shook. I don’t know if it was for disagreement, or maybe I wanted him to stop already but still, he continued.
“My father and grandfather run after the success of the experiment. They hide, and still now, and continued to spread the race through blood. We have been hunting monsters, Lia. Among us, it was just me who turned out to be a vampire... And my sister happened to hate them after her friend, Charles was accidentally killed by my brother...”
I gasped.
“My sister does not know about it, Lia...” I could feel the weariness in his voice. “She has been joining us to kill vampires and that worry us. We can’t stop her... She was too determined to find the vampire who killed Charles.”
I bit the insides of my cheek to stop myself from letting out another batch of gasps. I was stunned, yes. I can’t imagine her pain now.
Once she found out, I know she will feel like she was betrayed.
“I know those words were not enough to proves me right but I could show you something, Lia.”
I blinked twice. I know where this thing would lead us to whatever the results are, I’d be willing to sort my feelings and decide after this. Although it would just come down to one thing... And that was to still love and accept him as he is.
This part of him is still Simeon. We were together for just months, and we’re still on the process of knowing each other’s sides.
“Like fangs?” I asked, almost a whisper. “Sinking your fangs into me, then by sipping my blood, too? Is that it, Simeon? That’s how you can prove your existence.”
He shook his head. “I know you’re not ready for that, Lia. Not ready for that kind of pain...”
“Then what?” I pushed. “What ways can you prove your existence, Simeon? If not sucking my neck, what else?”
“My wound heals,” he insisted. “I could do it, Lia.”
Shaking my head, I stood up and took a deep breaths. My insides were having a discussion again, my mind was unclear, and my heart was beating so fast I felt scared that he might hear it. It was mixed emotions...
Scared, in turmoil... Bewildered and named it! I couldn’t even understand what I feel right now.
“How about your bloodlust?” I asked. “Do you drink blood? Were you just pretending to be asleep at night? Do you burn under the sun? Allergies in garlic? How about silvers, Simeon?”
I was pacing back and forth in front of him. While he was just looking at me, unable to talk. My hand was on my waist and on the side of my head, thinking, panicking for some reason.
For the past months that we have been together, I never saw anything unusual. He ate garlic bread, even went to the beach with me without burning his skin despite the heat, and he wore silver watches.
He prefers silvers than gold.
Also, I never saw him drink blood. Of course, he wouldn’t let me see it!
“Answer me, Simeon!” I snapped that made him flinched on his seat. “How many times in a month do you drink blood? Have you ever bit anyone for blood, Simeon?”
I stopped walking when I realized my question.
I squints my eyes. “Have you?”
He immediately shook his head, he even wave his hands!
“I have never drink from anyone, Lia!” he shouted, looking defensive. “I swear, I never.”
“Then, do you drink blood?”
Slowly, he nodded. “Of course...”
My brows shot up at his confidence.
“I’m not done with you yet,” I said firmly. “I still don’t believe your words, Simeon. Tell me more, and show me more if you wants me to believe in you.”
We stared for almost a minute. I didn’t back down and just meet his eyes that were slowly turning...
“F uck...” I whispered under my breath.
My legs got wobbly that I had to sat down on the sofa. Was I f ucking dreaming? Or hallucination? How can one eyes changes color from black to a bloody red one?
I gathered myself, swallowing hard.
“This is not real...” I kept whispering to myself. “I am dreaming, Simeon. This can’t be real... You can’t be real!”
A tear fell on my cheek. Now that I have witnessed something, I couldn’t still bring myself to believe in him.
Because I’m scared! He could live for hundreds years while I will not probably last for a hundred years! That means he will be left alone... I’ll leave him first and the idea scares me.
I don’t want to leave him... When I do, I’m sure he could still find someone to love after me and even though it was the right thing to, I can’t help but be selfish.
He’ll continue to live while I’m gone... And that he could find someone else after he moves on from me.
I am selfish, I know. But by just thinking of it, my heart sunk. I’m hurt...
“Lia...” He stood up and attended to me. “Baby, please. Talk. Tell me what you feel, love...”
I shook my head and clutched his shirt, leaning my head on his chest.
“I’m frightened...” I said truthfully, my lips shivering in fear. “I know I shouldn’t but, still... I’m afraid, Simeon.”
“Of what, baby?” his voice was weak. “Afraid of me? Baby, I wouldn’t hurt you. Please, don’t be scared.
I bit my lower lip to stop myself from sobbing real hard. My tears were nonstop and as if it has no plans on stopping, and I just let it... My tears streaming down my cheeks. Each fall has its emotions.
Pain. Scared. And a lot more.
“Lia, I love you. Hurting you is not my intention, okay? Please, stop crying. You’re making my heart drops in sadness, baby.”
I felt his arms around me, hugging me tight as if telling me that he’s here, and that he will not let go of me.
Yet despite the assurance, I can’t still stop myself from crying.
“I’m worried, too...” I sobs. “You will have the chance to live in the next generations, a hundred years later, you’re still here in the world while I...”
I felt him kissed my hair. He didn’t talk... He was just hugging me and giving me all the attention I needed for now. Simeon was constantly comforting me with his back rubs, little kisses on my hair, while whispering how much he loves me.
How I mean the world to him... And that I matter above all else.
“While I will probably be gone without even reaching hundred years of age, and you’ll be left alone...”
“So, you believe in me...” It was not a question. “When that happens, baby... I’m probably busy guiding our children, supporting them in fields they have choose. And growing old with them together.”
I shook my head. “Your eyes turned red... Vampires has red eyes... How can I not believe in what I saw?”
And children... He wanted to have a children with me. He wanted me to be the mother of his future sons and daughters, and that he’s willing to make me his wife.
“Can you just turn me, too, so we could be together for a long time, Simeon?”
