Threats

On getting into the house, Ramona stood still by the door when she saw Alpha Harris sitting on his favourite arm chair situated by the corner of the living room with a glass of whiskey in his hand and the twins standing on both sides of him. “Welcome back" He said staring into an empty space. His eyes filled with anger. “My sons told me their mother was abducted. My luna...abducted. I was overcomed with anger and my mind was coming up with different ways to approach the situation...” He paused and took a sip from his drink. “And then it hit me. Alpha Carter isn't one who does something as rash as that. Now imagine my surprise when I had my boys followed and there you were, in our cabin" He explained with anger, grinding his teeth. “I did what I had to do...” “YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING!!!" The Alpha growled, springing up to his feet, startling them. “I AM THE ALPHA!!! Not you” He stated, walking closer to her. She shifted closer to the wall, shutting her eyes. “If you want a death wish or something, go for it...but, don't you ever...try to turn my sons against me” He warned. He turned to look at the twins who had their heads bowed in fear and then walked away. Ramona uttered a sigh of relief as she opened her eyes. She glanced over at the twins who were staring at her with apologetic eyes. “It's okay. I'm not giving up just yet" She muttered. *** Taylor pushed the door to the room open only to find Edward sitting down on the chair next to the bed with a bottle of gin in his hand. He looked rough and shabby. “Don't tell me you are still sulking like a child who got screamed at by her mother” She quarrelled, walking hastily to the windows and Pathing the curtains open. “You were there Taylor. He humiliated me in front of everyone. How am I suppose to show my face out there again? I'm sure the little respect they had for me has been smeared in the mid by the stunt my so called father pulled" He complained “On the contrary, quite the opposite" She took the bottle from him and sat on the bed “What do you mean?" “What I mean is, the wolves didn't lose their respect for you. They actually support what you did. Most of them support your belief that we should show the other packs that we are not weak and we are not to be messed with. They think the Alpha is losing his touch. He used to be fearless and ruthless. Now he's just sitting on his ass, letting other packs walk on us and cutting losses. Some members are ready to stand behind whatever plans you have" Taylor explained Edward sat up, staring Intently at her. “Are you sure about this or you are just trying to cheer me up?" He questioned with disbelief in his voice “I'm not here to cheer you up Edward....I'm here to help you become the man you are supposed to be, the man that everyone would come to fear and cower at his sight" She said with a grin. “Alright then. I guess we better come up with a plan" Edward Smiled “What do you have in mind?" *** “What do you mean threatened?" Damon asked, sitting across from his father in his office. “What does it have to do with us?" He questioned with a worried look on his face. “We control the sheriff's department and the sheriff's department standing with us when it comes to the wolves. He knows if we don't stand with him, then he's going to have a problem with the cops standing in his way. So he's trying to sway us to side with him" Mayor King explained “But we won't. I mean, we can't allow hunters to hunt them down. There are kids, women, innocent people" “Of course not. We won't allow it...but it's not going to be as easy as it sounds. They have the deputy Mayor by their side. I can tell you, if they aren't able to make us join them, they might resolve to drastic measures" said the Mayor. “Can't we do something about it? Like arrest him or something?" Damon asked “Under what charges? We can't charge him with anything without spewing the secret we are suppose to keep. We just have to find a way to drive them out of town or to beat them at their game. I'm meeting with the sheriff soon. I need to fill him in. I want cops to be on patrol around town every night till we find a way to stop them" He explained “In the meantime, you should be careful, always on alert. We wouldn't want to give them something to use against us. You should probably find a way to keep your friend safe" He added “Alright. Maybe it's best she returns to the city" Damon sighed *** “I know why you are here and before you start, let me tell you I had no part in it. I was furious when I found out and I wanna try to resolve this as peacefully as we possibly can" Alpha Walker explained, sitting on the couch and gesturing for Alpha Michael to sit. “Yeah I know you had no idea. I heard it was your son. I admit I was furious, very furious...but like you said I wanna resolve this too. We both know the truth and there's no need for bloodshed if it all can be resolved peacefully. So that's why I'm here. Let's establish a truce" Alpha Michael said smiling Alpha Walker stared at him with disbelief. He couldn't believe his ears. Certainly, this wasn't the Michael he knew. The Michael he knew would be gearing up for war right about now. “I'm sorry what?" He asked trying to confirm what he heard. “A truce. If the southside packs were to start a war with each other, then we are giving easy access to the north side. So I personally think this is no time for war. So what do you say?" Alpha Walker chuckled softly. “A truce sounds about right. I am happy you see it like I do." He stood and extended an handshake “To peace in the southside" Alpha Michael stood up, accepting the handshake, smiling warmly at him. *** Craig dropped his fork on his plate as he began chewing down the salad in his mouth. He looked out the window of Moonlight Diner, his gaze falling on a couple who were liplocked by their car, fondling each other. A small smile escaped his lips. A smile which faded as quickly as it appeared. He hadn't had that in a long time. His thoughts immediately went to Cara. The deal they made was a reasonable one but it was definitely not easy. “You and the salad had a fight?" A voice snapped him out of his thoughts. “Hey!" He said looking up, surprised at who he was seeing. “Maya" he called out still surprised “Been a while Craig" She said smiling. “Mind if I join you?" She asked “Uh no...please sit" he gestured “What gat you deep in thoughts?" Maya asked, sitting opposite him in the booth “Ummm, nothing, just some old memories" He shrugged “Nice. You look good. What have you been up to?" “Nothing new or exciting. Just been hanging in. What about you? You've been keeping to the southside mostly lately" “Yeah. Nothing for me here in the northside. Plus you northsiders don't want anything to do with us southsiders" She smiled “That's not true. You southsiders are the ones always making it seem that way. I mean it wasn't always like this" Craig pointed out “Yeah. It wasn't always like this. Maybe it's time to reconnect" She smiled “Yeah maybe it is" he nodded smiling. *** “Crystal!" She heard her name being called behind her but she was too furious to pay attention to who it was. She headed out from the storehouse into the streets with her arms crossed and anger visible on her face. Ignoring her name being called repeatedly by her brother. “Hey Crystal!" He grabbed her arm as he caught up with her. “Let go of me!" She protested, wriggling her hand free of his. “Just listen to him. He doesn't want to do something drastic. Just to scare them into siding with us" Drake explained “Do you hear yourself?" She questioned “Dad is pushing the boundaries everyday and you are following him like a loyal lapdog. This isn't what we do. We hunt werewolves to protect humans. Not whatever the hell he's planning in there. There has to be a line we do not cross. Crossing that line will make us nothing less of an animal” She quarrelled “I understand, but you should understand what he is going through. What happened messed his head up and he needs us by his side to keep him in line. Trust me, nothing is gonna get out of hand. Especially with us both present there. Without us he might do something drastic but if we are there we can keep him in line. So please let's go back inside" Crystal glanced at both sides of the street, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She knew there was some truth to what her brother said. “Alright then. Let's go" She gave in. If she didn't want her father to do something he would regret, she had to be there to stop him, she thought. She just hope she doesn't lose herself in the process.
