Ramona stood by the window, tapping her foot repeatedly on the floor as she kept on staring into the woods, waiting for news. She hadn't heard anything from her sons since they left and she didn't want to take the risk of calling them. She sighed as she began fiddling with the glass in her hands. She knew something was up. The thought of her plan not fully working crossed her mind. ‘He must have figured it out' She thought to herself. If she hadn't seen or heard from her sons by now, it only means they are being held by their father. He was a smart man who knew her too well but she wanted to try all she could so as to not resort to her last option. She emptied the content of her glass, dropped it on the table beside her and walked away toward the door. She didn't want to wait anymore. These games between her and the Alpha would only be time consuming. She had to stand for what she believed in and now it doesn't matter if the consequences she was afraid of happens. She grabbed her things and began heading back home to face whatever was waiting for her. *** “Welcome back. How was your holiday weekend?" Mayor King asked, staring at the Deputy Mayor who was sitting across from him in his office. “Not as relaxing as I thought it would be. Work went with me” Deputy Mayor Allison replied, smiling. “But I guess I came at the right time. I got a visit last night from a man. Victor Morgan...” She started and instantly noticed the Mayor's expression darkened. “I take it he visited you too" She added “Yeah. Family of hunters. He came to threaten me into joining his cause" The Mayor replied “His visit to me didn't seem like a threat. It seems to me like a way out” She stated “What do you mean a way out?" The Mayor sat out, narrowing his eyes toward her. “Look at our town Thomas. The wolves have taken over. They are the ones running the town and if we are not careful or if we don't act fast, they'll run us out of our own town" She pointed out “What are you saying?" “What I am trying to say is that, if these hunters can take care of our wolf problem, we should assist them with everything we've got" Allison explained. “Are you serious right now?" The Mayor asked in disbelief. “When have we had a wolf problem? It has fallen to our families for generations to keep the peace and balance between the two species. And now that it is our turn, you want to s*******r them all? I mean...you are talking about killing innocent people, women and children" He stated “They are not people! They are ANIMALS!!" She protested. “Since we've had four different packs of those animals, the death rate in Mooncreek had increased and it's getting worse. They've divided our town, creating territories, treating us humans as though we are Inferior to them" She complained. “You and I both know none of these is going to stop there. This is an opportunity for us to get rid of them once and for all. We don't have to get our hands dirty. We let the hunters do the work" Staring at the deputy Mayor with his mouth slightly agape, Mayor King could not believe what she was spewing out of her mouth. He couldn't believe she would be so eager to support the killing of those innocent people. “I can't believe you would even consider doing this. I'm sorry but I can't support that. I just can't" He shook his head in disapproval. Allison stood up angrily, her eyes fixed on the Mayor as she glared at him. “You are not the only one with morals Thomas. You should get a better sense of what is good and what is right. Sometimes the end does justify the means" She concluded and walked away, leaving him there with his thoughts. He sank deeper into his seat, trying to grasp the situation that was beginning to unfold in front of him. At the moment all he understood clearly was that with or without his approval things are going to get messy and it was his duty to try and avoid it. *** Alpha Michael placed his hand on the table for support, leaning towards it. “So what do you think?" He asked, staring Intently at the map spread out on the table. “If we are to go to war with the Lichen Pack, then we are giving the greenlight for an all-out war. We have to think about this carefully before making a decision. Perhaps there might be a way we could get what we want without losing any of our men" Gray suggested “Do any of you have any ideas?" Alpha Michael asked, shifting his gaze from Gray to Maya who was leaning against the door. “I might have an idea that could help with both problems....but...it involves Maya" Gray said, glancing at her. Maya sighed and moved closer to them. “What can I do?" She asked “We don't have enough manpower to go against the Lichen Pack head to head but I think we have an advantage. I don't think Alpha Harris approved of what Edward did. From what I have gathered, there's a kind of a disagreement between the father and son. So I think Edward was acting on his own" He explained “So how does that help us?" Alpha Michael questioned “There's a way we could use that disagreement to our favor. I need you to trust me on this and leave it for me to handle. All you need to do is make a truce with Alpha Harris...” “Have you lost your mind? Make a truce with the same man who made a move to end us.." He protested “Dad! I think you should hear him out first" Maya cut in “It's just a temporary truce. Till the plan is in motion. All I need is for you to give me some time to set everything in order and if it doesn't work, we can go to war" Gray paused, staring at the Alpha and waiting for his decision. Alpha Michael thought about it. He felt the two pairs of eyes staring him and waiting for his reply. This was a whole lot different from what he had planned and he wasn't that sure this plan was gonna work but there was no harm in trial. “Alright then. Do what you have to and you better not fail” “Of course" Gray nodded. “Now concerning the mission of finding the prisoner Alpha Carter is hiding, I was thinking there's a way we could get an ear closer to their mouths. Someone who could be close to pick up on any mistake" He explained “And I'm guessing that someone is me” Said Maya “I don't think that's gonna work. There's no way he's going to let Maya close enough. He doesn't trust anyone who's not from his pack" Alpha Michael stated “Yeah but she might get close enough if she goes in through his son, Craig. He doesn't have a mate yet so he's open to new relationships and friendships. Maya is a charming girl. She can work it out" “How do you feel about this Maya?" The Alpha shifted his gaze to her She crossed her arms “I think it's worth trying if it'll stop any more unnecessary killing and torture" “Alright it's settled then" Alpha Michael concluded and walked away towards the bar. *** “Hey!" Cara called out, as she got into her room and was surprised to see Craig sitting there on her bed. “Missed you this morning, where were you?" “Just out. Needed to clear my head. You know, with everything that's been going on, I just needed to drive around and clear my mind. What about you? Where have you been?" He asked as she sat next to him. “Same. I needed to clear my head and to think. I also met with Damon and his ex girlfriend who just came into town. She's quite the character. We all hung out, had a chat and....yeah! That's about it" She explained “Nice" Craig nodded and they fell into silence, wondering what was going on in each others head. The silence that filled the room was quickly making the atmosphere an awkward one. “You know you can talk to me right?" Craig broke the silence Cara looked at him and quickly avoided his eyes as he stared back. “Of course" She replied “About anything... anything troubling you. You can trust me with it. I'm always here to help" She took his hand in hers and forced a smile at him “Yeah I know. You've always been there for me. So yeah I know" She said still maintaining the smile “Alright... alright good” He whispered, nodding his head. *** Gray tucked his phone in his jacket pocket on spotting Taylor approaching through the side mirror. “You are late" He pointed out as she got into the car. “Sorry. Couldn't ditch that whining boy in time. I'm here now. So what's the news?" Taylor asked “I have gotten the Alpha to put me in charge and now it's in my hands. We have only one chance at this and a little time to do it as well. So I need you to start making all the necessary plans and arrangements." Gray instructed “Alright. That wouldn't be too hard. With the father and son causing instability in the pack it won't be hard to get through to them. But I'm gonna need a little more time. I don't want to rush and screw this up or start raising suspicions" “Do what you have to, but we stick to the timeline. Right all we have is the hope that the other two packs keep their cool till we pull this off" He said. “You should get going so you wouldn't be missed" he added “Keep me posted" She concluded and exited the vehicle.
