Morning light streamed inside the room, the light breeze seeping through the window making the curtains billow gently. A lethargic laziness caught up with Ella as she felt unable to open her eyes to the daylight. It took her a moment to figure out where she was, and when she did, her eyes popped open in alarm. In sheer panic, she groped for the place beside her on the bed and was gratified to feel the presence of another being. Samael was still here – he hadn’t left her alone like she had envisaged. Would he regret last night again? Propping herself on her elbow, she watched him sleep openly without any qualms of being judged.
