Two years ago The wind blew my hair while I was walking to my boyfriend's apartment. It was our second anniversary today and I was planning to surprise him by giving this cake. And I baked it for Chase. I was smiling the whole time when I got there. I rang the doorbell but no one answered. While waiting, I suddenly remembered that Chase had given me an extra key. He told me that I can visit here anytime I want. "Happy An..." I didn't finish my words when I saw no one. I checked the surroundings but there was no sign of him. "Chase?" I called. My feet walked towards his bedroom but suddenly I stopped when I heard a familiar noise. My heartbeat starts beating loudly when I hear moans and groans from the inside. My hands were trembling when I decided to knock. This couldn't be happening, right? Tears fell from my eyes but I immediately wiped them. The moan of a girl became louder like a wild animal and that's when I decided to open the door. The cake I was holding fell and it made a noise. They suddenly looked at me. The girl was above him and she suddenly shrieked when she saw me. Chase was also shocked when he saw me and immediately pushed the girl away. "K-Kendra..." he frozed. They immediately got up. I watched the cake lying on the floor. The cake that I've been working for hours is now broken deformed as how my life has been turned upside down. I was trembling. "Kendra..." he got closer to held my hand but before he could do that, I slapped him. "You're a cheater!" I shouted. "Kendra, let me explain," "Explain what Chase?!" I yelled at him. He tried to hold my hand but I pushed it away. The happiness I felt suddenly disappeared like a bubble! "I was drunk... I'm sorry Ken," He tried to close our space again but I pushed him away. "You're disgusting! I can't believe you cheated on me and seriously? With this girl?" She looks like a little puppy. I glared at her. "I-I'm sorry..." he held my hand but I slapped it. Like any other man, he is exactly the same! I want to slap him so damn hard again but I realized I can't do anything anymore. "Ken..." "Stop calling me that!" I screamed. He looked shocked at my sudden scream. "You're worse than I thought, Chase," I said coldly. He shook his head again. "I-I was dr-" "You cheated on me on our anniversary!" I painfully said. Tears fell from my eyes again but this time I didn't wipe them. I was hurting! It hurts like hell! The joy I felt celebrating our anniversary suddenly disappeared and was replaced by bitterness and pain. I saw him gulp and looked away. Am I not enough for him? Damn it! I never thought that he would do that. He was the perfect man for me, but boy, I was wrong! I slowly retreated out of his room. I promise I won't come back here. No matter what happens. "Kendra!" he called and grabbed my hand. I slapped it away, feeling disgusted. "We're done Chase," I said coldly. "N-No... K-Kendra please give me another chance!" He suddenly grabbed my arms but I pushed him away. "Don't freakin' touch me! You're disgusting!" I screamed. "K-Kendra..." he was already crying. "I hate you to death," I whispered. He stopped when he heard that. He looked at me with pleading eyes but my heart was really hurting. The wind blew my hair again while I was walking away. This time, I finally realized that men are trash. On this day, I decided to finally walk away. Away from the past. "Are you listening, Kendra?" Caryl snapped at me. I blinked twice and looked at her. "W-What?" I asked. "Gosh! Are you okay? You're a bit stressed," she said and touched my forehead. "I'm fine," She sighed. "You should relax and take a break." I smiled. "It's okay Caryl, I don't need any of that and, besides, I still have pending work to do." She rolled her eyes. "We should go clubbing." "That is not a good idea, you know o-" "But it's cool! Just for today, please?" she insisted. I shook my head. "Pretty please?" she smiled cutely. "Caryl," "You will not reject me this time, Kendra," she said with finality. I bit my lips. I know I've been very busy designing clothes lately. Caryl has been bugging me these past few days to go clubbing but I always rejected her. I'm a workaholic woman for god's sake! I looked at her and she was about to cry! Her eyes were full of hope. What the hell? But I sighed. "You know I can't say no to you, right?" I said with a small smile. "Yipey!" she almost jumped off in excitement while I shook my head. I can't help but smile at her reaction. I guess I should relax and take a chill for a moment, huh? The evening came and we decided to go. We picked the middle-class bar here in Santa Ana. Caryl told me to wait inside because her fling was also going to join us. I looked around and saw the beauty of the inside. A lot of people were cheering for something. That's when I decided to go on a bartender to order something. "One tequila," The bartender nodded at me. While waiting for my order, I caught someone staring at me. His eyes were dark and dangerous. I looked away. Is he looking at me though? I tried to look at him again but the bartender handed me the drink. "Thanks!" I immediately drank the tequila. I bit my lips and ordered again. While waiting for my other tequila, I felt someone sitting beside me. He was the man who stared at me earlier! Boy, he's so handsome. He was like a Greek god from mythology. His eyes looked hard and dangerous. I could almost hear my heartbeat and now he's so close to me. I almost gasped when he moved closer. Before he could say anything, someone grabbed my freaking arms! I almost screamed but when I saw who it was. "We're looking for you everywhere, Kendra!" she exhaustedly said. I rolled my freaking god damn eyes and looked back at the man I was looking at earlier. He's gone? He was just here! Right in front of me! Where did he go? I sighed heavily and closed my eyes. Is this even real? How did he disappear so quickly? Is he Flash? I've already drunk one tequila but I think my head is spinning! "Kendra! Hello!" Caryl snapped at me. I looked at her and she was with someone. I think it's her fling. "Did you see a man next to me earlier?" I asked. She frowned at her brows. "What? I can't hear you!" she shouted. I shook my head and held my forehead. "Never mind," I murmured. Did I really see him? Or is it just an illusion? "Let's dance! C'mon," she happily said. Before I could protest, she already grabbed my arms towards the dancefloor. The music was bop and Caryl started dancing. I haven't moved on from the man who sat beside me earlier. The music got louder and louder. That's when I decided to dance. I swayed my body through the music and closed my eyes. I didn't know this felt good! It feels like heaven. While dancing, I felt someone behind my back. I didn't pay attention to that and just continued dancing until I felt him getting closer behind me. I opened my eyes and looked at the person behind. His eyes were glimmering. He licked his lips while looking at me and suddenly the music became romantic. "You look amazing," I heard him whisper. I thought I would never see him again. I even thought he was just an illusion! "May I have this dance, milady?" I don't know what went through my mind, but I nodded slowly. It felt like electricity ran through my body when he grabbed my waist. "You're beautiful," he complimented. I blushed when he said that. "T-Thank you," I can't believe I'm stuttering! Damn it! Kendra, he's just a boy. Remember what happened in the past! The romantic music is now playing slowly. I was nervous when he was looking at me intently. I can't believe what I'm feeling right now! "Do you mind if I get your number?" he whispered sexily. I nodded slowly. He smiled genuinely and gave me his phone. I typed my number and saved it. I returned the phone to him. Three years of being single, I can't believe I'm feeling this tension again! I had many suitors back then, but this man feels new to me. My eyes widened when he suddenly caressed my cheeks. His eyes were fixed on my lips and I saw his adams apple move. I quickly looked away and removed myself from him. I heard him call me but I just shook my head. I sighed and looked for Caryl. She's just behind me earlier! I looked again but the crowd was too full! My head was literally spinning and that man earlier... Damn it! I can't fall in love but he's so handsome. I continued to look for Caryl but I never saw her. Where the hell did she go? I sighed heavily and decided to go home. My head is spinning. I can't even look for Caryl. I will really choke you tomorrow Caryl!
