Chapter 33: Quiet TimeBy the time Jace returned to the A-frame with some of his things, everyone had left but Cody and Rusty.
“Hello,” Jace said when he entered the home. “Where is everyone?”
Rusty carefully came down the stairs, and Jace put down his things and petted his head.
“Hi there,” Cody said from the top of the stairs, where he stood wearing only a towel around his waist.
“Where should I put my stuff?” Jace said.
“Rusty’s bed is here,” Cody said, “Come on up.”
Jace picked up his things, then went upstairs.
“Honey, I’m home,” Jace said, then smiled and gave Cody a quick kiss on the lips. “Were you using my shower?”
“Yes. There is a bed in the guestroom downstairs but it doesn’t have sheets on it. Also there are no towels or other supplies in the downstairs bathroom.”
