Alpha Dean

I wish I could just ignore this ceremony and postpone it like it did the last two times, but I know my mother would kill me if I didn't show up to this one. I don't have an excuse or reason this time. Also, it looks bad on me for not showing up for my pack.     It isn't that I don't want to be the Alpha or that I am scared, because that is far from the truth. I was born for this position, it was my destiny from day one and I have always felt so in my blood. I was the strongest, I was the biggest and I could take on any one or anything that tried to get in my way. I just f*****g hate parties.     I am trying to straighten my tie when I hear a knock at the door. Greeeat. "Come in."     I glance at the door as my mother strolls in, she looks beautiful and graceful as always. She is wearing a deep dark purple evening gown with a black shawl. Her long blonde hair is actually up in a tight bun for once and she holds a smile on her face as she approaches me.      She take the tie from out of my hands and completely unravels it before starting over.     "So, are we going to talk about Melanie?"     I squint my eyes curiously, my mother wouldn't ever mean harm on my mate, but I wasn't completely sure what she was talking about, "What about Melanie?"     She sighs while looping the tie and glances up at me before looking straight ahead at my tie she was so delicately fixing, "Well, I did happen to notice she isn't affected by us. ANY of us."     I nod my head, "Well, I did mark her."     She sighs again while finishing up her work and straightening out the tie to perfect measure, "And you think that was a wise choice? I am not sure about every human implication, but I will say that there is something very strange about your mate Dean."     I know she can tell I am getting upset by her words because she continues on, "I really do like her Dean, but Lieutenant Rivers and his daughter are a very noble family and come from a long lineage-"     "Do you really want to see the dumb b***h Chelsea as a Luna?!"     She sighs, "I don't like the idea Dean, but their family has a lot of ties that can help strengthen this pack. While Melanie..does not."     I don't know why I ever gave a pinch of attention towards Chelsea, she was just there and I wanted some fun. I cared for her as I do anybody in my pack, but nothing more than that.     "Mother.."     She signs and nods slowly, "I know, I know. I am not here to ask you to reject your mate Dean. I just want you to be smart. Today marks your first day officially as Alpha of this pack and you need to take it with every shred of responsibility, you understand me son?"     I nod my head and embrace my mother before kissing her cheek, "I love you Mom, but I also love my mate. Whether she loves me, or doesn't. Whether she is human or not. I can't help who the moon Goddess pairs me with. And I damn sure am not going to reject her for Chelsea and her families weak alliances!"     I hear a shocked gasp from the door, "Our weak alliances? I had not idea that the White Eclipse and the Crescent Pack were so weak?"     s**t, what the hell is this women doing here. I try to contain my wolf with my mother in the room, but I let out a low growl, "You aren't supposed to be in here Chelsea."     She laughs sarcastically, "Well, that's a first."     My wolf growls yet again, but this time my mother intervenes, "Dean, why don't you two kids just talk? Listen to what she has to say."     What? I love my mother, but is she insane. I try not to look angry at her as she walks out of my room, leaving me with this woman. She knows what she is doing, but why is she all of a sudden on Chelsea's side?     Chelsea smiles flirtatiously at me before stepping closer, erasing the space between up. She lays her hand on my right forearm,  "Oh Alpha Dean, whatever will I do?!"     She fakes looking upset, I can see she has something up her sleeve, "Just spit it out Chelsea, what do you want? I need to get down to the ceremony and meet Melanie."     She scoffs at my words, "Oh yeah, our weak little Luna, or is she? I mean is she really the right fit for the position Dean?"     "What are you talking about?"     She gives me a sly smile before letting her head fall off my arm and raises it up to my chest, where I moves it away swiftly, "Get on with it Chelsea!"     She jolts abruptly, "Fine, fine! You know, I never wanted all this angry...tension between us. We were always so good together before she came in the picture an you know it!"        I sigh and look down before joining her gaze, "Chelsea, I care about you I really do, but I don't have any feelings for you whatsoever. I belong to my mate now."     She frowns and shouts out, "How can she even be your mate?! I can smell it on the two of you! You haven't mated! You know you don't want her, you know you want me!"     "Chelsea! LEAVE!" I lurch my Alpha voice and aura harshly at her. Maybe a little too harshly because she whimpers and leaves with tears in her eyes. Great, just what I need, another argument with her father about me f*****g his daughter and having nothing to do with her. Just great.     I knew that Melanie being human wasn't going to go over well with the rest of the pack, but what was I to do? Reject her for it? Rejecting your mate was said to only curse you from the moon Goddess herself. Also, I saw something in her, there was something to this girl that I couldn't quite land on yet. She looked so familiar, yet I had never met her til that first day at her human job.     She was the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on, she wasn't pretty like every regular pretty girl. She was different and unique, I loved her freckles and her scar on her left thigh. Every imperfection was beautiful to me, even her human said didn't bother me, except for the fact of me trying to not hurt her.      Luckily she hasn't let me or my wolf get physical yet, so I haven't even had a chance to accidentally harm her. I still haven't figured out how to get past that speed bump, but we still have so much to learn about each other in her eyes. While I am sitting here feeling like I have known her forever.     My bedroom door was left ajar after Chelsea's abrupt fleeing. So Rita just walks right in. I love my big sister, but she's really been getting on my nerves lately.     "Why was that w***e just in here?"     I meet her glare with my own, making her fix her expression quickly. My sister was strong, but she was still no match for my Alpha wolf. After all, if I hadn't been born then she would have been Alpha instead of me.     "Did you not see her leave here crying."     She frowns and shakes her head, "Guess I missed that detail, the b***h hides her crocodile tears well."     I roll my eyes, Rita really doesn't like the Rivers family or give a s**t about their family ties as much as I do.     "How many times are you going to come and check me Rita?"     "As many times as I have to to make sure you don't hurt that poor girl out there getting all dolled up for YOUR ceremony tonight."     I nod, "I know Rita."     She nods too and regain her posture and breathes in deeply, "Well, I guess I said all I needed too. By the way, something is up with your girl. I can't put my finger on it quite yet, but I was thinking that maybe-"     I shake my head furiously, "No Rita! She doesn't need to see her! I won't have my mate be touched by any witch, even if she is your friend!"     She frowns and looks at me with her kind big sister eyes, "Brother, I wouldn't be suggesting this if I didn't think we needed her help in the matter."     "She is fine though! What is so strange? Yes she can speak to Alpha wolves without any disregard or fear, yes she can be in the same room as a group of Alphas, but can still manage to speak her mind and leave when she wants? What is so strange about an Alpha's mate having a mind of her own?! If anything that is why Goddess paired me with her!"     Rita nods while putting her hands up, trying to coax my wolf back down, "Dean, I am not saying anything is wrong with her, I am actually wondering quite the opposite."     "What are you saying then Rita?"     She looks around the room quietly thinking before finally landing her eyes on mine an answering me coldly, "I am saying that what you just said is something that no human had ever been able to do! When she sat at the table, everyone expected her to fall out of her seat being around so many strong auras. It can be a lot for a human, but yet she was so comfortable and talked right up to you like nobody else was in the room!     "We have to keep all humans that are working in the pack far away from the Alpha main house because none of them can handle being in here! So why can she come in like it is nothing and the only reason she chooses to stay away is because you can't keep your hands off the pack whores!"     She was right, it was very strange for a human to not feel afraid of even the Omega wolves, let alone my Alpha aura along with the other stronger wolves. I had always thought it was because she was my mate, but she still showed a lot more courage than any other human mate I have ever seen.     Rita shakes her head while looking at me with disgust, "I don't know what your plan is, but you might want to figure out what the hell we got here. You know as well as I do how dangerous this whole situation can be."     I nod my head, "I will make some phone calls."
