Spiritual Transmigration?

2121 Words
Casimir stepped out from behind the pillar he had hidden behind. Matilda came screaming down the hallway. At first, he could not understand what she meant. They had taken his mom’s body? What? “What do you mean they have taken my mom’s body?” Matilda leaned over with her hands on her legs, she explained that his mother’s body had been taken. Everyone met in the main hall. Where the hole had been blown looked normal, in fact, Casimir had no idea that anything of the sort had even taken place. Magic was a wonderful thing when used properly. Everyone sat at the table with serious expressions. “What could they want her body for?” Casimir listened intently. Matilda had her face in a book while the others wracked their brains trying to figure out what they were up to. Matilda exclaimed happily. “They plan on placing another being or soul in the body.” Everyone looked at her incredulously. Such magic was extremely dangerous and powerful. Very few people even dared to try such things. Casimir was paying remarkably close attention. An empty body could be taken over? He could hide. He could use the same sort of magic to transmigrate his soul to a dead body and no one would know where he was, including his own family, which would put them in some danger, but they were better prepared for this than he was. He had already chosen to follow his Christian path more than this. This spell would be his final one. The guilt of being a witch was tearing him apart. He excused himself to the bathroom, and while no one was looking he picked up the book that Matilda had been reading as he headed to the said bathroom. The book was explicit. If a soul were still in the body or it was too fresh it could cause problems. Both souls and minds would fight for the body until one became dominant and the other became dormant. It was a risk he was willing to take. So, he looked over the incantation and doing his best mumbled through the words. Moments later his body fell motionless, and in a swirl of darkness then light his soul was off on its own. Meanwhile… Abigail had gone to bed finally. The sense of foreboding had lifted. Whatever was coming had her on edge, but she knew she was as prepared as she could be. Her wards were up, and she had Sheba to warn her if she did not notice something. Suddenly she was in a dream, and a powerful demon was eating fae. She sat straight up. Was the grove in danger? She could not feel anything, but she could feel a sense of urgency. Something was happening, something powerful, and it felt wrong. In the General Hospital morgue… Vladimir was a new custodian, and he had only been working a week. He had no problem cleaning any area of the hospital except the morgue. He was very superstitious, and all those dead people really bothered him. So, on this night, he was carefully sweeping the room. One body lay on the table covered. He listened to his music as he swept, and in the reflection of the cabinet before him, he noticed movement. He smiled to himself. “Now, I saw nothing.” Trying to tell himself he had seen nothing he went back to work. Moments later he heard a noise behind him. He screamed like a little girl now that the body on the table was standing behind him when he turned around. He screamed loud enough that the entire small hospital heard the scream. Doctor Puce came running assuming someone had injured themselves. When he turned the corner into the morgue and was confronted with a now living corpse his jaw dropped. “What the hell!?” Liam who was 13 years old looked at them both. “I could ask you this same thing. Where are my clothes, it's cold in here?” Liam was in shock, and he felt odd. In his mind, there was a presence. Something felt off to him. He could not shake the feeling he was being watched and not alone. Doctor Puce led him to an exam room where extensive tests began. His parents were called, and he sat wondering what all the problem was. “Would someone please tell me what's going on?” Doctor Puce turned to him with a wide-eyed expression. “Well, about an hour ago you were dead.” Liam’s jaw dropped to the floor with this revelation. It had not occurred to him he had woke up in the morgue because his mind was still not working right. A few moments later his overly joyous parents rushed him with hugs and kisses. Then his mother turned to the doc. “How can this be?” Puce looked profoundly serious. “Every once in a while, a body will slow its breathing and heartbeat so much it's undetectable. I think that must be what happened here. We believed he was dead, but he was in a stasis of sorts.” Ms. Elder gasped. The very concept of such a thing was foreign to her. All she knew though was that her son was back, and it was a miracle. She smiled as she looked at her son. She turned again. “When can we take him home?” “Well, I want to keep him overnight for observation, but as soon as that is done you are free to take him.” Liam was taken to a room where he would be staying the night. They hooked him up to the telemetry, and off to bed he was. He felt incredibly tired. The reason being was that a huge amount of energy had entered his body when Casimir used the spell to transmigrate. Now the two souls and minds were in a battle for the body and mind. Casimir not being trained for such things was not winning and he was not losing. He was however frustrated as hell at being in the body of a 13-year-old. For just the briefest moment Liam felt ridiculous about being thirteen. When the feeling passed, he thought to himself. What was that feeling? Back at the Mansion… Casimir had gone to the bathroom, but no one had seen him since. Assuming he was exploring to clear his mind they all took a casual stroll to locate him. Why no one thought to look at the bathroom he used was uncertain, but when Audrey finally concluded she should, the blood-curdling scream rocked the house. Casimir’s lifeless body lay on the bathroom floor cold as ice. Everyone came running. Jason bursting into tears as he looked upon his son’s pale body. Andre picked up the book of magic. Still open to the page his jaw dropped. “Oh s**t!” “What!?” “He used a soul migration spell… he could be anyone anywhere, and he could not even know he is not that person!” Jason stood up. “What the hell was he thinking?” “I have no idea, but he made a choice that I would not have made. The most logical place to look is the hospital since it would be a dead body he would go into.” “We can’t just walk in and ask about recently resurrected bodies.” Everyone began to ponder how to locate him, while they were thinking the Devil’s kiss faded from his arm. Duke pointed. “Look his mark is disappearing. What does that mean?” Matilda looked. “Probably that it followed him. It is part of his soul. He can try and hide all he likes, but he is who he is. You cannot run from who you are, destiny chooses who it chooses.” The Next Morning… Liam’s sleep was full of odd and disturbing dreams, but they were not normal dreams, they were like memories, but they certainly were not his, and they made no sense. IN the first dream he was running through the woods while someone or something chasing him. Then all he could see was some woman being struck in the chest by electricity, which was horrifying, but he felt a deep sense of loss at the woman's demise. He could not understand why because he did not know her, and yet she was familiar. He chose to not tell anyone about the dreams because they were a result of being dead for a while. He got dressed and his parents arrived. They walked outside and it was a beautiful day, there was but one dark cloud in the whole sky, and for some reason, it was slowly rotating. They all thought it odd, but not knowing better they got in the car and went home. Liam walked into his house, and though he recognized everything like always, the whole place felt new and different. He felt like he was an alien in his own home. He could not explain what he was feeling only that this whole thing had him freaking out and not sure what to think. All that day Liam felt like he was being watched. As much as his parents wanted to spend time with him, they could not miss work unless it was dire, so against their wishes they left Liam at home to go to work. Liam was jumpy the full day. Once when he walked in front of the mirror it was not his reflection looking back at him. He shook his head and walked into his room. He was tired, and all of this was fatigue. Yes, that was it. He knelt and prayed then climbed into bed, and still exhausted he fell asleep. In Liam’s Dreams... There was a beautiful woman with long white hair and pale fair skin. She wore a robe that looked black, but on the surface were swirling galaxies and flashing stars. Liam walked forward a little bit. The woman was playing a harp and singing, and the most beautiful music and voice he had ever heard issued forth from her harp and mouth. She smiled and looked at him as he approached. She reached for him. “Who are you?” “I am LaShienDei, you can call me a special friend.” “What are you?” “Well unlike most people think, God is a woman.” Liam’s eyes widened at this revelation. Suddenly everything shifted. He found himself in a stone cairn like a stone henge, but it was not the same. In the center was an altar, and next to the altar was a Native American shaman working with smudge. He turned to Liam and smiled. He motioned to the altar covered in crystals and feathers and all manner of things. Liam looked and ran his fingers over things. He then looked at the man. “What is all this?” “This is for you Liam. You are incredibly special. Destiny had woven a change of fate for you. Now you must choose who and what you are going to be. This is your chance to be a warrior or be a normal boy. But balance must be restored. A soul for a soul, only one can remain in the body.” Liam woke up. What the holy hell did all that mean. Now Liam was not superstitious about most things, but he did believe in God and spiritual things. Was it all just a very crazy dream or was that God? Could everyone be wrong, could they all have gotten wrong this whole time and God was a woman. And what did they mean by only one soul could remain? Liam looked out the window about this time, and what looked like a storm was brewing over the park now. What was going on with the weather. Meanwhile… Abigail looked at the window. She could see the swirling clouds over the grove. Someone was trying to open a portal using the natural energies of the grove. Who would be doing such a thing? She quickly grabbed her sword and ran from the house. Sheba is on her heels. Moments later they were in the grove, and to her surprise, there was a group of fae in the grove. They all looked concerned. Among them was King Avery himself of the Fae. She gasped, if he had come here, it was profoundly serious.
