She agreed to supply us with sophisticated toiletries after we paid her a sum of 10, 000 USD. After that, we traveled back to Delaware and had been waiting for her supplies. Unfortunately, we haven’t contacted her since. So, my friend and I myself planned to come over to California, and here we are in California. We were at her former residence last week and someone told us about her ordeal and how she had relocated,” Charles said. “That’s serious. She had never told me in the past that she was a dealer in toiletries. Notwithstanding, she is pregnant; so, she went to the clinic for antenatal care. She should be back by 10:00 am at most,” Silas said. “We don’t have any option, Mr. Easton, do we?” Charles said. “No, we don’t; we just have to wait for her return,” Logan said. “Alright, I guess you won’t be bored?” Silas said. “Bored? No, we won’t be bored, Mr. Easton is here to keep me company,” Charles said. “Yeah…,” Logan said. “It’s alright,” Silas said. “What’s your vacation, sir?” Charles said. “Me? Well, I am a banker; I took leave from my workplace because of my wife’s pregnancy,” Silas said. “That’s a nice profession,” Charles said, and Silas laughed. After several discussions in the form of murmurs, Adalyn knocked at the door. “Hold on, I am coming!” Silas said and walked towards the entryway. He opened the door and saw Adalyn standing in front of him. She was clutching a black bag. “Welcome, Adalyn,” Silas said with a smile, and collected Adalyn’s bag. “Thank you, Silas man,” Adalyn said teasingly. Silas closed the door and the twosome sauntered towards the couches. “Good morning, Adalyn,” Logan and Charles chorused. Adalyn was taken aback at the mention of her name. “Have I seen these men before? I don’t think I have seen them before. Who could these men be? How did they come in here? I guess we are safe?” all these thoughts ran through Adalyn’s mind. “Adalyn, are you alright?” Silas said as he tapped Adalyn on the back. “Sorry, I am fine,” Adalyn said, and sat beside Silas on the couch. “Adalyn, do you know these faces?” Silas said with a gesture. “No, I don’t know them,” Adalyn said as she gazed at Charles and Logan's faces. “Young men, but you said you had a business deal with this young lady sitting here,” Silas said. “A business deal?” Adalyn screamed. “Adalyn, why are you denying ever knowing us? Have you forgotten Mr. Aegeus and Mr. Easton so soon?” Charles said. “I beg your pardon!” Adalyn said. Adalyn and Silas stood up from their couches simultaneously as if they had planned it. “How about the 10, 000 USD we gave you to supply us with toiletries?” Charles said. “Oh, my God. Silas, this is mud-slinging,” Adalyn said with a quavering voice. “It’s alright, Adalyn,” Silas said and held Adalyn’s right hand. “You now want to shed crocodile tears, right?” Logan said. “Silas, please, take this man away; I don’t want to see them again,” Adalyn said. “You have to exercise a little patience, Adalyn. Mr. Aegeus and Mr. Easton, are you sure of everything you just said?” Silas said as he gazed at Charles and Logan. “Sure! You don’t expect us to be here in the name of slander,” Charles said. “Silas, you need to be ill-mannered. These men's words are slanderous; take them away,” Adalyn said and tears dropped down Adalyn’s face. “Gentlemen, please, go; my wife is in a bad state now. She is pregnant and I wouldn’t want her to lose her baby. You can come back some other time,” Silas said, and moved closer to Logan and Charles. Logan whispered into Charles' ear and Charles said, “Alright, we will go; expect us sooner or later. Logan, let’s go.” As Silas, Logan and Charles walked towards the entryway, Charles turned backwards and pointed a g*n to Silas' forehead. At this point, Silas and Adalyn knew they were in a serious problem. “Now, move!!” Charles said. Logan, Charles and Silas walked towards Adalyn’s direction. Adalyn couldn’t believe her eyes. Her only wish at this point was for the floor to open and swallow her. “Now, sit down and let’s have mature conversations,” Charles said, and took his g*n off Silas. Charles and Logan sat down close to each other, while Adalyn and Silas glued their asses to a couch. “You look scared; c'mon, you don’t have to be scared,” Logan said. “Alright…, sir,” Silas and Adalyn said. “Now, Mrs. Adalyn, do you know us?” Charles said and gazed at Adalyn’s face. “Yes…, yes…,” Adalyn said frightfully. Deep down in her heart, she knew she hadn’t seen Charles and Logan before. Logan and Charles smiled at each other as if they had planned it. “You are gradually coming around. Now, you will follow us; we have something for you,” Charles said. “You want to take my wife away? Please, let her stay with me,” Silas said with a quavering voice. “You are old enough to take care of yourself in your wife’s absence; so, cheer up,” Charles said. “She is all I have now; please, let her stay with me. “Look here, young man; I am a man of small words. Adalyn, stand up and follow us,” Charles said. “Adalyn shall we?” Logan said with a gesture.
