The guards were worried about this kind of seldom call up. “Greetings to the royal family!” the guards chorused. “Greetings to you all. How has been your day?” King Rehoboth said. “It has been fine, our king,” the guard said humbly. “I love that. Gavin, you can go now,” King Rehoboth said. “Alright, my king,” Gavin said and walked away. “I summoned you all here for some reason. You are undoubtedly aware of what transpired at the palace last night, am I right?” King Rehoboth said. “Yes, my king,” the guards said. “Good. We were at the scene where the incident took place; there is nothing to write about,” King Rehoboth said. “We are sorry, our king,” Dean said. “The corpses have been conveyed to the hospital now,” King Rehoboth said. “This is bad...,” Leo said. “Leo, call Adalyn for me,” king Rehoboth said. “Alright, my king,” Leo said and walked away. “Greetings to the royal family! You summoned my presence, king,” Adalyn said when she got to the inner chamber. “Yes, I did. Do you know professor Mark…, or whatever house?” king Rehoboth said. “Professor MacPherson! Yes, I know his house,” Adalyn said. “Good. You will take these guards to his house; I need to see him,” King Rehoboth said. “He is a lecturer and must be in the institution now,” Adalyn said. “How about his wife?” King Rehoboth said. “She will be at home; she is a full-time housewife,” Adalyn said. “Dean, go and call Gavin for me,” King Rehoboth said. “Alright, my king,” Dean said and walked out. “You summoned my presence, king,” Gavin said when he was closer to the throne. “Yes, I did. You will drive these guards and Adalyn to Professor MacPherson's house,” King Rehoboth said. “Alright, my king,” Gavin said. “Guards, make sure you come back with either professor MacPherson or his wife,” King Rehoboth said. “Alright, king Rehoboth,” the guards chorused. “You can go now!” King Rehoboth said. “Hello!! Who is at home?!” Dean said. “Hold on, I am coming!” Professor Macpherson’s wife, Charlotte, said, and opened the door. “How are you, young lady?” Dean said. “I am fine, gentlemen. How may I help you?” Charlotte said. “We have something to tell you,” Dean said. “Okay, please, come in,” Charlotte said. “Thank you, woman, but this place is better,” Dean said. “If you insist. Hope everything is fine? Because I can recognize you as the palace guards,” Charlotte said. “Where is your husband?” Dean said. “He has gone to his place of work,” Charlotte said. “We guessed as much. Actually, the king needs professor MacPherson’s presence at the palace,” Dean said. “Oh, my God! I hope he has not done anything wrong?” Charlotte said grimly. “No!! He has not,” Adalyn chipped in. “Alright, I am somewhat relieved,” Charlotte said. “Since your husband is not at home, you will have to represent him at the palace,” Dean said. “Represent him?! What has he done?! Please, tell me something!!” Charlotte said with a quavering voice. “Woman!! Stop questioning us!! Move to the car now!!” Leo said belligerently. “I am not going anywhere,” Charlotte said. “Don’t waste our previous time!!” Leo said. “Drag her into the car!!” Dean said. As the guards were dragging Charlotte into the car, a kind-hearted neighbor, Evelyn, ran to meet the guards. “What’s going on here? What has my friend done?” Evelyn said. “She has done nothing?” Leo said sarcastically. “Then why are you dragging her?” Evelyn said. “How does that concern you?!” Cameron said. “Get off our way!!” Axel said and Evelyn fell down. “I am sorry, Evelyn..., I will be fine. Take care of Ayla for me,” Charlotte said. “Alright, Charlotte,” Evelyn said and tears rolled down her face. Evelyn trailed the car as the guards drove Charlotte away. She couldn’t console herself. “I pray my friend is safe,” Evelyn muttered, and walked to her house.
