He carried his briefcase and walked to his house entrance door. “Hello! Ayla!” professor MacPherson said. “Hold on, dad; I am coming,” Ayla said moodily. Ayla walked to the door and opened it, she walked back to her seat. Professor MacPherson closed the door and staggered into the sitting room. “Ayla, you didn’t greet me,” professor MacPherson said. He put his briefcase beside the table and sat down beside Ayla. “I am sorry, dad; welcome,” Ayla said. “Thank you. You look dull. What happened?” professor MacPherson said and touched Ayla’s chin. “Nothing, dad,” Ayla said silently. “C’mon! You can’t deceive me. Are you famished?” professor MacPherson said. “Yes, dad,” Ayla said. “Where is Evelyn? She didn’t bring lunch for you?” professor MacPherson said and looked in the direction of the door. “She didn’t. Dad, Mrs. Evelyn is in the hospital,” Ayla said. “What?! What happened? Talk to me!” professor MacPherson said. “Mrs. Evelyn's husband sustained a domestic injury to his head,” Ayla said. “Oh! My God! How?!” professor MacPherson said. “I don’t know, dad. Mrs. Evelyn sent her son here in the morning. She wanted you to take her husband to the hospital for treatment. However, she resolved to call Mrs. Anthony. As I am speaking now, the trio are in the hospital,” Ayla said. “I am sorry for Mason and his wife. Do you know the hospital where they took Mason to?” professor MacPherson said. “I don’t know, dad. You can call Mrs. Evelyn via your mobile phone to ask,” Ayla said. “Alright. Cheer up, Ayla; they will be fine,” professor MacPherson said. “Alright, dad,” Ayla said. “You need to eat now. Bring my briefcase,” professor MacPherson said. “Alright, dad,” Ayla said. Ayla moved to the table, she carried the briefcase resting on it and walked to Professor MacPherson; she handed the briefcase to him. “Here is it dad,” Ayla said. “Take this 10 USD, go to the canteen and buy whatever you want,” professor Macpherson said. “Please dad, take me to the canteen,” Ayla said after collecting the money from her dad. “No, I can’t; I am drunk and I don’t want something bad to happen,” professor MacPherson said and closed one of his eyes. “Alright, dad. Take care of yourself while I am away, Ayla said. “I will,” professor MacPherson said. Ayla walked to the door, she opened it and walked away. Professor MacPherson carried his briefcase and dragged his legs to his room. He placed his briefcase on the table and removed his pair of shoes. He removed his tie, long sleeve shirt and his trousers. He walked to the wardrobe, put the clothes inside wardrobe hangers and then hung the hangers inside the wardrobe. He removed his night coat from the wardrobe, dusted it and wore it. He wore a pair of slippers and walked back to the sitting room. “Where is my mobile phone?” professor MacPherson sighed. Professor MacPherson walked back to his room. He couldn’t recollect where he kept his mobile phone. However, after searching everywhere, he carried his briefcase and opened it. He saw the mobile phone lying lifelessly inside the briefcase. He picked up the mobile phone, dropped the briefcase on the table and walked back to the sitting room. He sat on the couch and searched for Evelyn’s phone number. He tried all his best to contact Evelyn through the mobile phone, but the network was very bad, he had no option than to compromise. About 4 minutes later, Ayla walked into the sitting room. “Dad, you didn’t lock the door and you know it’s dark out there already,” Ayla said. “I am sorry, Ayla. I hope you are satisfied?” professor MacPherson said. “Yes, dad,” Ayla said and sat down. “I tried Evelyn’s phone number, but her mobile phone was not reachable,” professor MacPherson said. “Oh! That’s bad. Maybe you can try some other time,” Ayla said and yawned. “Alright. You look tired. I guess you have to go to bed now,” professor MacPherson said. “Alright, dad. Goodnight!” Ayla said and stood up. “Goodnight! No nightmare,” professor MacPherson said. Ayla left the sitting room for her room. Professor MacPherson picked his mobile phone from the table and walked to his room. It was a bright morning, Mrs. Anthony drove gently to Evelyn’s house. She parked the car and alighted from it. Mrs. Anthony walked to the door, she knocked repeatedly. “Landon, open this door!” Mrs. Anthony said. “Hold on! I am coming!” Landon said. He left the film he was watching and walked in the direction of the door. He opened the door and saw Mrs. Anthony standing. “Good morning, ma,” Landon said. “Morning, Landon. I had been knocking for seconds and you didn’t open the door. What's going on?” Mrs. Anthony said. “I am sorry, ma. I was engrossed in the film I was watching. Do come in, ma,” Landon said. “You started watching a film early this morning? That’s very bad,” Mrs. Anthony said as she walked to the sitting room. “It’s unusual of me, ma. The house is so boring, so I needed something to keep me company,” Landon said grimly. “That’s not an excuse. There are a lot of books you can read. I want you to switch off the television now,” Mrs. Anthony said and sat down. “Okay, ma,” Landon said. “Watching films very early in the morning is frivolous; now switch off the television,” Mrs. Anthony said. Landon walked in the direction of the television, he switched it off alongside other electronics. “Good. Now, come and sit down beside me,” Mrs. Anthony said. Landon walked to Mrs. Evelyn and sat down beside her. He gazed at the dark screen of the television. “I hope you ate the food I brought here for you yesterday?” Mrs. Anthony said. “Yes, ma, it was delicious. Thank you for the food,” Landon said. “Don’t mention it. Get me the plate now,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Alright, ma; just a minute,” Landon said. He stood up from the couch and walked to the kitchen. He hurriedly took the plate, washed it and rinsed it with the water from the sink. He put the plate inside the basket and walked back to the sitting room. “What kept you so long?” Mrs. Anthony said. “I quickly washed it, ma. Here is it, ma,” Landon said. Landon dropped the basket beside the couch and sat down. “Landon, I hope you are not missing your parents?” Mrs. Anthony said. “I am missing them, ma. Though, I miss mum more,” Landon said. “Mum’s pet. Well, your parents should be here sooner or later,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Alright, ma,” Landon said. “Have you swept the floor? Everywhere looks dirty and untidied,” Mrs. Anthony said. “I haven’t swept the floor,” Landon said. “You should cover your face in shame. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Now, look for a broom and tidy up the whole place,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Alright, ma,” Landon said and stood up. “Before you do that, I want to go to the hospital,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Alright, ma. Send my regards to my parents. I really miss them,” Landon said. “Alright, I will. Make sure you tidy up the whole place,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Okay, ma,” Landon said. Mrs. Anthony removed her purse, she removed the whole money inside the purse and separated 12 USD notes. “I didn’t cook anything for breakfast, but take this 12 USD; buy whatever you want to buy,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Thank you, ma,” Landon said euphorically, and collected the money from Mrs. Anthony. “You are welcome. Do have a nice day. I want to go to the hospital now,” Mrs. Anthony said and stood up. “Goodbye, ma,” Landon said. Mrs. Anthony walked to the direction of the door, she opened it and walked out of the house. When she got out, the sun was already shining as if it was midday. Mrs. Anthony walked to where she parked her car, she opened one of the doors of the car and entered the car. She started the car, put on the seat belt, controlled the steering wheel and disappeared into the thin air at a low speed. Landon walked to the store, he carried a broom, a scrubbing brush, a bucket of soapy water and some other cleansing agents. He walked to the sitting room and cleaned it simultaneously. He cleaned other parts of the house afterwards.
