The car moved gently from street to street. The car reached its destination and Dickson stopped the car. The gangsters alighted from the car and they walked to the hotel. They stood in front of the main entrance. The door had already been padlocked before they arrived. The gangsters couldn’t do anything, they walked back to where their car was parked. They entered the car and wound up the glasses. The gangsters slept off inside the car after removing their masks. The next morning, Dickson woke up first. He quickly woke the other guys. “Hello! Guys! Wake up!” Dickson said. The gangsters woke up and moved to the entrance door, but the padlock has not been removed. “What do we do now?” Logan said. “We just have to wait for the workers to come. It is 7:20 am already; before 8:00 am, they should be here,” Jeremy said. The gangsters walked back to where they parked their car, they entered the car and sat down. “Guys, we had an ordeal yesterday. The mall f****d up,” Dickson said. “Yeah, the mall f****d up,” Logan and Jeremy said. “It's alright, guys. We shall go back there today," Charles said. “In this daytime? I hope we won’t be caught?” Jeremy said. “We can’t be caught. We shall go there when the services are going on smoothly,” Charles said. “Then it should be 12:00 pm onwards,” Dickson said. “You are right, Dickson. Let’s prepare our minds for that,” Charles said. “Alright, boss,” the gangsters said. “I am famished already; where are these hotel workers?” Charles said rhetorically. “We are also famished, boss. We didn’t eat anything last night,” Jeremy said. “Boss, I don’t think the workers will come here anytime soon, because they left here very late yesterday,” Logan said. “Logan is right. What do we do now?” Dickson said. “Logan, go and check the back door to see whether it is locked too,” Charles said. “Alright, boss,” Logan said. Logan alighted from the car. He walked to the back of the hotel and moved closer to the back door. He saw a big padlock dancing on the door. Logan walked back to where the car was parked. “Open this door?” Logan said. Jeremy opened the door of the car and Logan entered inside the car. “Boss, the back door was locked too,” Logan said. “That’s bad! We have to wait for these workers to come,” Charles said. The gangsters waited for the hotel workers to arrive. It was exactly 8:10 am, two workers, Remi and Iris, walked to the main entrance door of the hotel. The gangsters saw them and alighted from the vehicle. “Hi! Babes,” Dickson said. “Good morning, sirs,” Remi and Iris said. “How was the night?” Charles said. “It was wonderful,” Remi and Iris said. “We slept in the car yesterday night,” Dickson said. “Oh! We are sorry, sirs. We just had to go yesterday,” Remi said. “The attendant walked to your room to give you your dinner, but couldn’t find you. Where were you guys?” Iris said. “Oh! We went for a seminar,” Charles said. “A seminar?!” Remi and Iris said. “Yes; a night session,” Charles said. “Alright,” Remi and Iris said. “These girls are beautiful; their skins are smooth like fish's scales” Jeremy whispered into Logan’s right ear. Logan raised his eyebrows in affirmation. “Babes, we are famished now and need to munch,” Charles said. “We are sorry, sir. Let me check what is on the menu. I will personally bring the food to your room,” Iris said. “Thank you,” Dickson and Charles said. “Welcome, sirs,” Remi and Iris said. Iris opened the padlock, she removed it from the door and opened the door. The workers and the gangsters walked into the hotel. The workers opened the windows and soon the hotel became functional again. About 30 minutes later, all the workers had resumed the day’s work. The cleaners tidied up the rooms and the surroundings. Iris checked the menu and saw bread and tea on the list. She called one of the cooks. “Piper!! Come!” Iris said. “Alright, ma,” Piper said and walked up to meet Iris. “Have you checked what is on the menu?” Iris said. “Yes, ma. Tea and bread. I have placed kettles of water on the fire,” Piper said. “Okay. Did you add Lipton to the water?” Iris said. “Yes, ma,” Piper said. “Correct. Now go back into the kitchen. When the water is hot, come and tell me; understood?” Iris said. “Yes, ma,” Piper said. Piper walked to the kitchen, she opened the covers of the kettles and saw that the contents were getting hot gradually. After waiting for about 4 minutes, the water got hot. Piper walked back to meet Iris. “Madam, the water is hot now,” Piper said. “Alright. Go and arrange food for four men and bring the food to me,” Iris said. “Okay, ma,” Piper said. Piper walked to the kitchen. She carried a jug and poured hot water inside it. She carried four spoons and four cups, she carried butter, sliced bread and beverages. She carried everything in a tray and walked back to meet Iris. “This is it, ma,” Piper said, and placed the tray and its contents on a small table. “Alright. Now, go and arrange other people’s food,” Iris said. “Alright, ma,” Piper said and walked back to the kitchen. Iris carried the tray and its contents and walked in the direction of the gangsters' room. “Hello! Please, open this door,” Iris said. “Hold on! I am coming!” Jeremy said. Jeremy walked to the direction of the door and opened the door. Iris walked into the room and placed the tray on a table beside the bed. “Guys! I am sorry for the delay. Your food is here,” Iris said. “Alright; thank you,” Dickson said. “I want to go now,” Iris said with a smile. As Iris walked out of the room, the gangsters trailed at her body parts “I like this babe's figure,” Charles said. “Boss, you are too promiscuous. Do you want all the ladies? Remember we are here too,” Logan and everyone laughed. “You can take the other babes. As for me, I will go with that one that left the room just now,” Charles said. “Enough guys. I am famished and need to munch now,” Jeremy said. Dickson emptied the beverages into the cups; he gave everyone pieces of sliced bread and the gangsters consumed the food. In a jiffy, they have consumed everything. “Logan, go and bring the microwave ovens inside,” Charles said. “I almost forgot,” Logan said. Logan went outside and offloaded the microwave ovens from the boot of the car. He carried them in randomly. Mason walked to the sitting room, he switched on the television, took a remote and sat down. He scrolled down the channels to his favorite channel, BBC news. He quickly dropped the remote on the table and began to listen to trending news. He was so engrossed in what he was doing, as if he was going to win prizes and jackpots for doing that. “China is at it again! They think they have the world power! The United States of America is rising very soon,” Mason muttered. Evelyn walked to the sitting room. She took some books away from the couch and sat down. For about 30 seconds, she gazed at her husband. Mason was so engrossed in the news that he didn’t know when Evelyn walked into the sitting room. “Hi! Mason!” Evelyn said. Mason managed to look at Evelyn’s face, he shook his head like an agama lizard and faced the television back. “Mason, what's your problem. It has reached the point that you don’t notice me again, right?” Evelyn said and grimaced. “Hey! I am busy; you can come over some other time,” Mason said, still gazing at the television. “What kind of man is this? What did he want to get from this news?” all these thoughts ran through Evelyn’s mind. Evelyn walked to the wall socket and switched it off. Mason looked at her with disdain. “Are you mad? What’s your problem?” Mason said angrily. “You are the one with problems, big ones for that” Evelyn said. She hissed and sat down. “Anytime you try this again with me, I will kill you,” Mason said with his tongue inside his cheeks. “That’s a dead threat because you can’t do such. Your mates are out there working, you are here listening to fake news, being engaged in frivolous things,” Evelyn said. “You are insane! Get out of here and let me be,” Mason said. “I won’t. When will you be wise? Stop this foolhardiness,” Evelyn said. “How could you have the temerity to talk to me anyhow?” Mason said. “How? Look here, gentle man, you are indolent and uncaring,” Evelyn said. “Are you talking to me?” Mason said. He stood up and gave Evelyn multiple slaps. “You slapped me?” Evelyn said with a teary voice and retaliated. Mason became angrier. A combat began between Mason and Evelyn. Evelyn couldn’t hold her tears, she cried and shouted as Mason gave her blows on her cheeks. Landon could hear Evelyn’s voice and Mason’s yells. He ran to the sitting room and saw the scattered state of the sitting room. “Dad, it’s okay! Leave mum alone!” Landon said. Landon begged Mason several times, but Mason refused. Landon couldn’t hold his tears. He could see his mum grasping for breath. He took a glass cup from the table and hit it on his father’s head. Mason shouted and fell down. Evelyn hurriedly stood up. Mother and child became perturbed as blood oozed out from Mason’s head. “Why did you hit him with a glass?” Evelyn said with a teary voice. “I couldn’t withstand the maltreatments, mum”, Landon said. “You shouldn’t have done that,” Evelyn said. “My head!! My head!! Landon has killed me!! Mason said with pain. Evelyn couldn’t behold the blood oozing out from Mason’s head. She tried her best to stop the blood and finally stopped it. “Landon, go and call professor MacPherson for me!” Evelyn said. “Alright, mum,” Landon said, breathing heavily. Landon ran out of the sitting room. He reached Professor MacPherson’s house and knocked on the door. “Please, open this door!!” Landon said after a series of knocks. “Hold on! I am coming!” Ayla said, holding a basket in her right hand. “Good morning, Landon,” Ayla said after opening the door. “Morning, Ayla. Where is Professor MacPherson?” Landon said. “He has gone to work. What happened? You look perturbed?” Ayla said. “But professor MacPherson left too soon,” Landon said. “It means you haven’t watched his movements very well. I want to go to your house,” Ayla said. “Really? My father is dying in the room,” Landon said. “Oh! My God! What happened?” Ayla said. “I can’t talk now. Let me run back home,” Landon said, and took two steps backwards. “Wait for me; let me close the door,” Ayla said. Before Ayla closed the door, Landon had already disappeared into the thin air. Ayla ran after Landon and they entered the sitting room simultaneously. “Mum, professor MacPherson has gone to work,” Landon said. “Gosh! What do we do now? We need to take your dad to the hospital, but we don’t have a car,” Evelyn said grimly. “Good morning, ma,” Ayla said as she entered the sitting room. “Morning, Ayla. Landon said your father had gone to work,” Evelyn said. “Yes, ma. What happened to Dad?” Ayla said, perturbed. “He sustained a domestic injury. I have given him first aid. I need a car to take him to the hospital for further treatment,” Evelyn said. “I am sorry, dad. Please endure the pain. Mrs. Evelyn, have you told Mr. Anthony? He has a car,” Ayla said. “Oh! I forgot. He must be away by now, but his wife will definitely be at home. Landon, get me my mobile phone,” Evelyn said. “Alright, mum,” Landon said. Landon ran to Evelyn’s room. He checked everywhere for Evelyn’s mobile phone, but couldn’t find it. He walked out of the room. “Mum, I couldn’t find your mobile phone in the bedroom,” Landon said. “Where could it be? Check the furniture!” Evelyn said, pointing to the couches. Landon checked the couches and saw Evelyn's mobile phone under the couch. He picked the mobile phone up and handed it over to Evelyn. Evelyn searched for Mrs. Anthony's phone number; she saw the number and dialed it. “Good morning, Mrs. Anthony,” Evelyn said. “Good morning, ma. How was your night?” Mrs. Anthony said. “It was fine, ma. I guess your husband has left for work?” Evelyn said, looking at Mason’s closed eyes. “Yes, ma. I hope there is no problem?” Mrs. Anthony said. “There is, ma. My husband is lying unconsciously in the sitting room after sustaining an injury to his head,” Evelyn said. “What?! What do we do now?” Mrs. Anthony said, perturbed. “I need a car to take him to the hospital,” Evelyn said. “Alright. I will drive to your house now; just hold on,” Mrs. Anthony said. “Thank you, ma; we are waiting,” Evelyn said and cut the call. “What did she say?” Ayla said. “She is coming,” Evelyn said. “Good. I want to take this basket to the kitchen,” Ayla said. “Alright, Dr,” Evelyn said. Ayla walked to the kitchen, she dropped the basket, removed its contents and placed them on a table beside the electronic stoves. She walked back to the sitting room to meet the perturbed. When Ayla got to the sitting room, she sat down beside Landon. “This man must not die. I can’t watch people call Mrs. Evelyn a widow,” all these thoughts ran through Ayla’s mind. About 5 minutes later, Mrs. Anthony parked her car in front of Evelyn’s house. She walked in to meet the perturbed. “Oh! My God! We need to take him to the hospital now!!” Mrs. Anthony said. Mason was rushed into the car, Evelyn sat beside him and Mrs. Anthony drove the car away. Ayla and Landon trailed the car as it moved away. “I pray dad recovers from this,” Ayla said with a teary voice. “That’s my wish too. Would you stay here or go to your house?” Landon said. “ I will stay here; our house is boring,” Ayla said. “Alright; should we go in?” Landon said. “Sure!” Ayla said.
