DISCUSSION WITH A DEMON
During high summer, the sun never set at Dayo because of its high latitude. Instead, the sun just brushed the mountain tops of the Great Chain to the south and rose again, giving way only to a few of the brightest stars. It was to this twilight display, even though the hour was late, that Lar arrived out at Dayo's palace at the top of the world.
He had to walk a mile or two: no one had died near the palace itself, but the walk allowed Lar to craft the list of questions and possible experiments he wanted to hash out with Dayo. Then he grew too distracted by the music of the place. In a blink, he found himself at the huge crystal doors without remembering the walk before he arrived.
